Every time I mess up at my house , my parents threaten me that they won't allow me to go out with my friends. This happens every single time OK? But as the days slowly pass they slowly forget about. I asked my mom yesterday if I could go to Emily's, they allowed me but yes, the taunts never stopped. 

"Oh so you phone has battery today ?"

"Should I make dinner for you or will you be ditching dinner again."

I sit at the table alone, waiting for others to come, while I eat my sandwich. Wesley and Amy walk towards the table hand-in-hand , all smiles.

"So Nyra, I have a question", Wesley says.

I nod for him to continue.

"What's the difference between a piano, a tuna and a pot of glue?"

"Please don't start this again.", Amy groans.

"Ummm... I don't know."

"You can tuna a piano, but you can't piano a tuna."

"Ha ha....what about the glue?"

"I knew you'd get stuck there"

I literally groan and bang my head on the table. Obviously Wesley is the only one who laughs.

I can  already feel it is Liam's turn to cringe when he sits at the table next to me.

"Hey Liam, why is a bad soccer team like an old bra?"

"How will I know."

"It has no cups and very little support", Wesley says and bursts into laughter. This time even I accompany him because it is funny, a little. Even Liam is laughing though, and those dimples....damn.

"Andrew my frienddd....why did the soccer ball leave the team?"

"Huh?", Andrew asks confused.

"Why did the soccer ball leave the team?", Wesley  repeats.

Andrew goes into deep thought.

"Oh I know, because it got tired of being kicked around ",  he says with a smug look on his face. 

"Yea yea....you are the smart one.", Wesley says looking deflated.

Amy is talking about how her algebra professor slipped in class today, when my phone buzzes, my mom.

"Hi, bolo(speak)", I speak into the phone.

"Its- its Maya.", my heart begins to race the moment my mom says those words.

"What about Maya. Tell me!", I yell into the phone.

"Please come home."

"No tell me right now!"

Everybody at the table is looking at me with concerned eyes.

"Don't yell Nyra, but please come home. I can't do this over the phone with you.Please. Come home."

She hangs up before I can say another word. My mom sounded very panicked. I try not to think of the worst possible situations.

"What happened? Is everything ok?", Amy asks for everybody.

"I..I don't know. My mum is not telling over the phone"

"I'll come with you. Wesley you gonna drop us in the car?", Amy tells.

"I think I want to do this alone. Thank you though,Amy "

"Call me once you find out please.", Liam says this time.

I nod to him.

"Let me at least drop you till your house, please.", Liam forces.

"You don't have-"

"Please.

"Fine."

I hug them and leave and all of them wish me luck for whatever it is I should be ready to listen. As Liam and I are leaving the cafeteria, Emily and Jake walk in.

"Where are you guys going?", Jake asks.

"Listen we are in a hurry, ask the others and they'll tell you. Sorry", Liam says for me. 

"Sorry", I mutter before rushing towards Liam's car.

My heart is beating really fast,  it seems to be in my throat. I fell Liam's hand on mine but I am too distracted to move my hand. The thought to call Sarah or Jash occurs to me but then I control myself, wanting to hear it first from my mom. I am not even sure if Sarah or Jash know about whatever it is. My mind begins to roam around them. 

Liam stops the car in front of my house. He hugs me tightly, reminding me to call him and others about what it is and also telling me that he is there for me. I thank him one last time before walking out and into the house.  

My mum and dad are both home. I can already tell it is something serious since they are both home.

"Bacha(kid), sit down please.", my dad calmly says.

"No, tell me right now. What about Maya."

I was not ready to hear what I heard. I stumble back from the shock. I can't believe my ears.
