"I'd better go, I don't want mom to get worried," Violet whispered to Fang. Fang whined softly. "It's okay, I bet you'll have a great time! See you this afternoon buddy, okay?" and with that, she walked out the door.

Then Fang got worried. What would he do without Violet? What if he didn't know what to do? "I wish Violet didn't have to leave," Fang mumbled.

"Don't worry Fang," Kati said gently. "You'll be safe with us. Violet will be back this afternoon, just like she said."

But Fang was still a bit worried when the dogs started to introduce themselves.

First, a golden retriever introduced herself. "Hi, my name is Bella." she said kindly. "My owner says that I'm the kindest and gentlest dog she has ever met. But I'm not trying to brag.

As Fang listened to Bella talk, he thought Wow, she sure seems kind. Maybe she would like to be my friend.

When Bella stopped talking, Pumpkin stepped forward. "Hi! I'm Pumpkin! I can talk really fast! My owner says that I have a lot of energy. So I might have to calm down a little bit in order to do my training."

Pumpkin seemed nice too. Even if he does have a lot of energy. Fang thought about what it would be like to be Pumpkin's friend. Well, one thing's for sure. He sure did need help calming down if he wanted to do that for when he was training!

When Pumpkin was done, it was Fang's turn. " Hi. My name is Fang. This is all new to me and I'm super excited! I hope to also make new friends while I'm here.

When everybody was done introducing themselves, then Kati made an announcement.

"Now that everyone has introduced themselves, it's time to work on staying calm around people. That's the first, and most important rule about being a therapy dog. First up, Bella!

Everyone watched as Bella walked calmly up to Kati. She seemed to do it perfectly.

When it was Pumpkin's turn, you could tell he was trying super hard not to run up to Kati. His tail was wagging so hard and fast, it looked like a helicopter. Pumpkin almost made it but at the last second he leaped forward into Kati's lap.

Kati smiled. "Nice try Pumpkin. Now, who's up next? Fang stepped forward. "Okay Fang, give it your best try. Fang started to walk slowly to Kati. This is easy, Fang thought. Fang was sure that he had passed the test, when the disaster happened.
