As the fates would have it you burst into the throne room. His sister and Ephraim himself were in their as you panted while getting your breath back. "Ephraim! You're finally back!"

You never wanted to let go of him, the feeling of your friends arms were like a blessing the gods gave back to you.

You heard footsteps quickly leaving as you knew Eirika gave you two some space. You smiled at the great person and best friend growing up she was too you.

"I'm so glad you're not hurt." Ephraim said pulling back and looking you over, "Did you train with the lance like you said?"

"I did! I feel like I can take you on!"

A small laugh came from him, making your heart flutter. "You've never changed even after the war."

"Ephraim... I would never change. I kept your promise and stayed safe with my family. Did you remember the other promise you made for me?"

"Ahh yes, I have. It's very important now I'm going to be king soon of Renais."

Your heart dropped into your stomach. King... meaning he would have to find a queen soon... and start a family with that queen...

"Yes, there wasn't a day I never forgot of thinking of you and your wellbeing. I've loved you for many years and only needed your agreement into the hardships of are together lives."

"Oh Ephraim... I've always loved you too."

He gave you a warm smile and kisses you gently as his bangs brushed your cheek. The kingdom of Renais was forever happy with its loving king and queen who loved each other dearly, to who death couldn't break their ties.
