EP.103|There’s A Better Way

“Wait, what happened to Peggy and the grail?” Ben asked eagerly.

Alex opened the curtain to reveal Peggy hooked up to an IV, her body covered with burn marks and large wounds.

“Oh my gods…” Carlos gasped. “How did this happen?” CJ asked in shock.

“Me and Peggy got into a crash when we were delivering the grail to the portal” Cindy sighed “as you can see, Peggy got the bad end of the stick.”

“Ugh...everything hurts…” a soft voice groaned. Alex looked over at Peggy to see she was sitting up.

“Peggy!” Alex cheered, hugging his girlfriend causing her to wince in pain.

“I’m happy to see you too, but can you not hug so tight.” Peggy groaned.

“Oh, sorry.” Alex sheepishly muttered. “How are you feeling?” Alex asked, brushing a strand of Peggy’s hair back. “A little better, the burns hurt less.” Peggy smiled.

“I should've gone with you…” Alex grumbled. “Look at me” Peggy lifted up Alex’s face “i’ll be okay, you know I hate it when you blame yourself.”

“Plus, Swan trusted me to take the grail to the portal. And that’s what I did.” Peggy smiled.

“Yes, but you got hurt.” Alex said. “And I’ll be fine.” Peggy assured him.

“Sorry to interrupt this touching moment but where the hell is the grail?!” Ben asked again. “It’s in the portal.” Peggy replied.

“You said that already! But, where is the grail.” Ben growled. “Once I put it in the portal it transports to the next safe spot Swan set up.” Peggy said.

“And where is the safe spot?” Ben asked, obviously annoyed. “We don't know!” Peggy told him. Ben growled deepened as he grabbed Peggy’s collar.

“Where is the grail?” Ben’s eyes turned a deep blue with tints of gold and green in them. “I told you! We. don't. Know.” Peggy repeated.

Ben let go of her collar and walked out of the bar in an angry huff. “I’ll go talk to him.” Mal said as she followed him.

Lucifer sat in his castle, looking out the window at the sea.

Deep down, Lucifer knew what he was doing wasn’t right, but he needed Swan back.

But there has to be a better way! A better way to get the woman he loved back. The woman he longed for since the moment he saw her.

Why couldn't he get the graceful Swan out of his head? Swan was his rock, her light to his darkness, her heaven to his hell, her sun to his moon, her spring and summer to his fall and winter.

What was it about Swan that made Lucifer so attracted to her? Was it because of her voice?

Her beauty? Her grace? Her kindness? Her warmth she brought to everything around her?

Not only was Swan the girl he loved, Swan was also his best friend.

Swan was the only one who understood Lucifer and accepted him for the way he was.

She didn’t shun him away like the other kids did, she didn’t take pity on him like the others did, she cared for him when nobody else did.

This girl was like no other, she was smart, kind, beautiful, graceful, regal, elegant, poise, humble. She was everything Lucifer ever wanted in a girl and more.

Lucifer knew this wasn’t right, he knew there had to be a better way.

“Stop filling his head with nonsenses!” Araden scolded. “Who are you talking to, Araden?” Lucifer asked. “Nothing, let’s keep working on the plan.” Araden grunted.

“I’ve been meaning to ask you Araden, isn't there a better way to bring Swan back?” Lucifer questioned as Araden groaned in annoyance.

“NO! This is the only way! Stop listening to Miss third eye! She’s feeding you lies!” Araden grumbled. “Miss third eye? Who the hell is that?” Lucifer raised his eyebrow.

“Never mind, just don't listen to her. ‘K?” Araden warned him. “Alright…” Lucifer said.

“There’s a better way…” A mysterious voice in Lucifer’s head said.

“What the hell…” Lucifer muttered, the voice echoing softly in his head.

“There’s a better way…”

Ben sat on top of a mountain, raking his hair back. “Ben? You okay?” Mal asked, sitting beside him.

“Yeah, totally, I’m fine.” Ben brushed off. “You’re lying.” Mal stated. “Am not!” Ben pouted. “Your nose crinkles when you lie.” Mal pointed out.

“Fine, I’m not okay.” Ben sighed, Mal rested her head on his shoulder. “Ever since the wedding, I’ve been slipping.” Mal looked up at her husband. “Slipping?” Mal asked.

“Yeah, I’ve been sensing this danger. I just need to get away, away from causing pain.” Ben looked down at his hands that were shaking.

“I’m losing time...I’m losing control.” Ben shuddered. “Hey look at me, when we fought at the wedding. Did Nirvana ever wear off?” Mal questioned.

“It did, but I think a little part of it’s still there. I think that part is allow me to connect to Lucifer.” Ben said. “Connect?” Mal raised her eyebrow.

“Yeah, like I can feel him in some way, I can feel when he’s in pain and when his magic is low. It’s almost like a lifeline.” Mal placed her hand on top of his.

“So, you can reach Lucifer, like his spirit or him physically?” Mal asked. “Both. He’s hurting a lot Mal. Like he constantly keeps on screaming for someone to help him.”

“I know Lucifer, and this isn't him. He doesn't like doing this, it’s like he’s in a prison of his own sins that he desperately wants to break out of.” Ben laid down on the grass, looking at the night sky filled with stars.

“Me and Lucifer used to look up at the stars like this every night. He used to say that him and his friend from far away would tell him all about the stars and how they were like maps to our ancestors.”

“What do you mean?” Mal asked, laying down next to him. “Think of it like this. We all have a star and each star is connected to a Parent Star, which is our parents star.”

“And that Parent Star are connected to your Grandparents Star, and so on so on till you get to the Infinity Star.” “Infinity star?”

“The Infinity Star are the large two stars right there. Kinda like yin and yang.”

“So, where are our stars?” Mal asked as Ben pointed to the a red star

“That’s CJ’s. The orange star is Carlos’. The blue one is Evie’s. The green one is Jasper’s. The yellow one is Hunter’s.”

“The lavender one is Operetta’s. The periwinkle on is Freddie’s. The dark blue one is Zeref. And the purple one is your’s.”

“Where’s yours at?” Mal inquired, snuggling up to his chest. “The royal blue one.” Ben smiled. “How come there’s a dull one next to yours?” Mal asked. “It’s Dixie’s…” Ben sadly said.

“Oh, I’m sorry I asked.” Mal muttered. “Don't be, Dixie went in peace. She’s in the infinity star where all good-hearted souls go.” Ben assured her.

“That’s it!” Ben quickly sat up. “We need to get back to the bar!” Ben and Mal quickly rushed back to the bar to see everyone lounging around.

“Freddie!” Ben shouted as Freddie fell off the couch. “What?” Freddie groaned.

“Come with me!” Ben and the rest of the group ran up to the hill he was just on.

“Look!” Ben pointed at Freddie’s star. “Okay, that’s my star, what about it?” Freddie questioned.

“Look at the Parent Star.” Ben pointed to the two stars above Freddie.

Freddie’s eyes widened as she covered her mouth in shock. “I don't get, it’s just two stars.” Operetta stated.

“But they’re lit.” Freddie noted.

“What does that mean?” Hunter asked.

“It mean...my parents are still alive.”
