I.
This is the world I live in
Where people talk, walk, and smile
But I do not hear nor see them
All is but black and white

II.
Someone made a joke and laughed
I didn't find it funny, but I smiled
Someone cried and hugged me
I didn't sympathize but I hugged her back

III.
Students and professionals alike claw at each other
Humanity, morality, care, and love forgotten
It's all for acads, for success, and recognition
And the audiences all cheered for competition

IV.
This is the world I live in
Where I caged my emotions and hid my weakness
Where I had to stay above and on top or I drown
And where the hole in my soul was never filled

V.
With a twist of fate and a turn of events
Someone made Himself known to me
"I am the way, the truth, and the life
I am your Father, Maker, and Friend," he said.

VI.
It took me a while, but Jesus was His name
He showed me the beauty of the skies and seas
He taught me to treasure people and love them as me
He revealed to me His love and has died for me

VII.
But He also warned me of the days to come
On how I would be persecuted if I follow Him
On how I would be scorned by the ones I love
On how the enemy would try to drag me back to darkness

VIII.
And I told Him, "Lord how would I handle that?"

He smiled and told me, "I will be with you,
No waters will overflow you, no fire will burn you
Do not be afraid, for I will deliver thee."

IX.
I found peace and joy I have never felt before
And I decided, I will never let this go
And as I looked up to Him and held His hand
I let Him guide me down a narrow land

X.
This is the world I live in,
Where Jesus painted the color of every scene
Where following Him means sweetness and trials
Where my old self died and rose to a new life
