Link and (Y/N) headed toward all the other shrines as the slate unlocked more of its hidden abilities. (Y/N) made fun of Link when he accidentally used Cryonis the wrong way and froze himself. You wouldn't think it was possible, but Link is special that way. What concerned both of them was the strange mechanical device that shoots beams at them.

(Y/N) protected Link at the last second before he was shot in the chest. From then on Link promised to be careful when exploring the shrines. They were walking towards the last shrine the Old Man told them to explore before giving them a paraglider.

(Y/N) walked beside Link, sharpening a rusted old sword along the way with a sharp rock. "Do you think the Old Man was lying to us when he said he'd give us the paraglider?"

Link looked straight ahead the whole way. "I believe him. Something tells me he's trustworthy."

Even though Link said that a nagging feeling was bugging (Y/N). No one, besides themselves and the Old Man, was here in the plains. Not a town or smoke from a house in sight. She didn't know how big Hyrule is, but there had to be some sort of civilization out there.

"Hey, Link," (Y/N) said, "haven't you found it odd that we haven't come across any villages yet?"

"It seems like a small plain. There shouldn't be a village with the number of monsters we've been killing."

Link did have a fair point. The more monsters, the less chance of there being a village. At the mention of a village, ruins came into view. Link jogged closer to them and started to climb the crumbling walls. (Y/N) sighed and started to catch up.

The ruins formed a barrier of some sort, like walls that kept something or, or out.

"Link, you shouldn't be far off without me!"

"I'll be fine!" Link shouted back.

That boy was impossible. Being wild was in his veins, no doubt about it. He always started the adventure ahead of himself and left (Y/N) in the dust. When she started to float up, she heard a beeping sound not too far away. She wondered what could be making that sound until she caught her eyes on the biggest machine she found yet.

It glowed a menacing red as it pointed its beam of light at Link's chest. Link stood there, frozen until the beeping grew rapidly. Link made a dash towards a cutoff point, but he wasn't going to make it in time. (Y/N) dived head down and dashed forward, blocking the projection of the beam. It bounced back towards the machine, but the beam did damage to her. She flew against a wall and smacked her back against it, the wall behind spreading cracks like a spider web. Link dashed forward and bent down on one knee.

He raised her body and lifted her up in his arms. "Are you alright?"

The world was spinning inside her head because she totally caught unaware of what just happened. "I... I think so..."

Link steady on her feet, watching as she stood swaying sideways. He sighed and crushed the foreskin between the bridge of his nose. "This is my fault... I need to be waiting for you instead of diving in head first."

(Y/N) shoved him away and walked in paces towards the last shrine. "You should have... thought of that first..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It took them an hour, but they finally finished the last shrine. It was silent as the walk back to the temple was becoming awkward. Link felt bad but didn't know what to say. She was powerful and didn't need any help, but he was reckless enough to have her rescue him... three times now on their adventure.
Link looked up at the sky above him as he climbed the top of the roof to the temple of time. He didn't know what it was, but he was getting too anxious to be sitting and taking his time. Each time he looks to the castle a sense of dread threatens to case fear inside his heart, but the courage inside was too strong to let it get in the way.
He grabbed the last bar of the ladder as the Old Man was on top, and dusk had finally set. The blue orbs around him caught Link off guard as he stood a little way back. The Old Man laughed and showed a smile on his face.
"Well done there, young one!"
(Y/N) joined in as she looked at the glowing blue aura around her. "Oh no... am I dead?"
The old man looked at her and frowned, creasing his eyebrows. "I do not know who you are, but you did exit out of the cave with Link. You are not dead, but we do share the same glowing aura around ourselves." He glowed a bright light, and as it died down royal clothes were on him. "I am King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule."
Link got the sudden urge to bow to show respect, but he felt too stunned to even move. "King... of Hyrule?"
Rhoam nodded and looked towards the castle. "The castle in the distant is Hyrule castle... it fell one hundred years ago and my daughter, Zelda, is fighting to hold back the calamity to this day. I ask you, Link, to hurry and save not only Hyrule but also my daughter."
"W-Wait," (Y/N) interrupted, "that can't be possible. Someone couldn't be fighting a demon for that long. That's... just not possible."
Rhoam explained the whole story of Hyrule and how all this came to be. He even gave them the paraglider as his promise to them. Link's head was hurting deeply, to the point when Rhoam finished and disappeared, he clasped on the floor. (Y/N) rushed to his side in a panic. "Are you okay?"
Link cringed when a bursting headache was immersing and exploding inside his head. "Everything hurts... I feel... dizzy..."
(Y/N) called out Link's name, but he was soon falling into a deep slumber. (Y/N) struggled to pull him up but decided against it and tried her best to keep him warm. He was starting to have a fever and slowly would start to twitch.
"Link, please be okay..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I headed down the hallway of Hyrule castle, knowing Zelda was waiting for me. The king appointed me as her royal guard, and everyone has their eyes on me. Even Zelda, but it's more in the way that I don't mess up. Everyone was whispering about why Zelda's powers haven't come yet, and how I can stand to be next to her.

It's easy for me to handle Zelda, she reminds me of... and that's how I can support her. Walking out into the courtyard every girl has their eyes on me, and it... makes me extremely shy. The only girl I can handle is (Y/N).

"Link!" A voiced called.

I look up and there is (Y/N), wearing one of Zelda's clothes. It's a blue dress low on the collarbone and creates a V lining near the chest. It's... something else. I wave back as she jumped over the wall. The guards gasp, but she just floats down naturally.

"What do you think? Zelda saw me wearing the same thing every day and wanted to give me this!"

I couldn't look her in the eyes. "You look great," I said, trying not to even glimpse at her.

(Y/N) sighed and sagged her shoulders. "Boys... anyways, are you traveling with Zelda again?"

That sentence caught my attention as I looked at her face, only her face. "Of course, I am. I was going to find her and start our travels to a shrine of some sorts."

"Can I come? I am your..."

"No, you can't. You need to be here to protect Hyrule."

(Y/N) looked like she wanted to argue but decided against it. "Whatever you think is best, Linkey poo."

"W-What?" I stuttered, blushing at the nickname.

"I and Zelda came up with it. Since you only talk to us two, we have the most information about you! And that goes along with making up a nickname!"

I was about to argue when Zelda's figure appeared from behind (Y/N). She was on top of her horse, smiling at us both. "I am ready to head towards the shrine." But I know Zelda is only warming up to me. She smiles at (Y/N), but when she looks at me it fades entirely.

She makes sure (Y/N) doesn't see it as I get my horse ready as well. I get the feeling Zelda doesn't like me because she needs a knight to appoint her, and although I am the champion of Hyrule, the pressure is becoming too much for me. (Y/N) waved goodbye as we exited out of the gates and into the wilds.

There was silence as Zelda and I made our way through the plains until she spoke up."Why don't you let (Y/N) out of the gates? She is your... so protection is granted, but we can use her on our journey. Tell me, why?"

I didn't have an answer. I still don't know why I couldn't speak, all I knew was I didn't have the answer to Zelda's question.
