"Come on Lettie, you can't quit over this minor thing. If it helps, we are never going out to have lunch again. We..." He was saying but was interrupted by me.
"Yeah... We are not having lunch together again because I quit." I turned away my face from his so that he doesn't see the tears that went rogue and slipped down my cheeks but trust Liam to always be aware of every single detail.

He turned my face back to his, and used his pinky finger to wipe my tears in the most solemn manner or if I may, the most sexual manner. I blaming my delusion on how sad I feel right now.
"Your tears say you don't want to go too, so why are you going against your wish?"
"It's because we don't always get what we want. Sure, I've had so much fun working with you for the past two months and trust me it's has been amazing, you have the most amazing personality."
"I really appreciate that you think I'm amazing, but I don't see how this has to do with you leaving?"
"Come on Liam... Don't make it harder than it already is." I groaned and buried my face in my palms.

Liam pried my fingers one by one away from my face and said, "Look at me Lettie, " Looking at Liam was a huge mistake because I saw how sad his eyes were and I just want to continue crying, but somehow I manage to shake my head telling him I still haven't changed my mind.

Liam releases my hands and used his right hand to run through his hair in frustration as he groaned, "Lettie you are my shot of normalcy and I don't want to trade that for anything. You've grown so much on me from your 'coffee helps in the morning mantra', to your making fun of the weird thing I have with shoes, even down to your poker story. I want you to stay Lettie. I trust you." He finished. He just had to go and say the last sentence.
"You shouldn't." I croaked bitterly.
"Shouldn't do what?" He craned his neck.
"Shouldn't trust me. For all you know I may just be an assassin trying to hunt you down." I spat out bitterly.
"Well, you are not." He argued.
"How are you sure?" I yelled.
"I just know okay! I just know! Even if me trusting you seems foolish, I'll still do it anyway." He sighed.

Another batch of tears brimmed in my eyes, and I picked up my bag and tried to hurry out of the office when Liam's voice stopped me.
"If you leave, I'll sue." Liam threatened.
Immediately Liam said that my heart thumped in my chest.
"Sue on what grounds?" I questioned in confidence even though I wasn't feeling confident one bit.
"You leaving without proper notice." He said, which effectively brought my heartbeat down. This is why I needed to leave. I'm living in constant fear of what if Liam finds out?

"Since when did that become a thing?" I raised my brows suspiciously.
"If you actually read the staff's handbook, then you know it's always been a thing."

I remembered the big handbook Liam gave me when I started working here and how I skimmed through it and decided that I didn't want to torture my brain. So I dumped the book.

I burst into laughter and said, "I can't even lie. I didn't read that stuff, because it was way too bulky. Felt like I was back in school and I'm sure the reason I worked my ass so hard in school was so that I never have a reason to go back again."
Liam walked to where I was at the door and held my hand solemnly, "This is what I don't want you to go. Your honesty is what I really like about you. Others may lie they read it, so I don't get offended but you didn't."
I turned my face away from him again, "I have some really huge secret and trust me it's not pretty. I really don't want you to get hurt."
"Then tell me what it is. Trust me you'll feel unburdened."
I faced him with pain in my eyes, "It's not that I don't want to but I'm not ready yet. I'm so scared that you're going to hate me."
The next thing Liam said shocked me. "Then don't tell me. If you can't, then don't."
"You are aware that the reply wasn't normal at all. Most people always want to find out what the other person is hiding." I said looking so puzzled.
"I believe from the moment you found out that I hate wearing shoes in the office that normal was far away from me." He grinned.
"True... You probably hit your head as a baby and developed all these weird quirks." I said returning his grin.
"So what do you say? Do you still want to work for a CEO who probably hit his head as a baby?"
"Well..." I started saying as I saw Liam's hopeful eyes. "I wouldn't want a lawsuit would I?"
"So does that mean you are staying?"
"Yeah... I mean a lawsuit would look bad for my reputation. I already have the poker thing and..." I didn't even finish my statement when Liam swooped me for a hug and spun me around with him. He didn't just end there, he proceeded to peck me on my both cheeks.
"Careful or I may just think that you are falling in love with me." I teased Liam.
He smirked, "And what makes you think it's not true?"

I looked at him shocked and he raised his left brow like he was challenging me to say otherwise. I managed to get over my initial shock and shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly like his statement didn't affect me.

"Well for one, you have a girlfriend. Two I know taking my bath with water does nothing drastic like a quick beauty makeover, but i sure as hell wouldn't want an acid bath either." I smirked.
"I don't care about having a girlfriend. Nothing can come between us because my love for you is forever." He joked.
"Look at who is being a leech right now." I laughed making a reference to the statement his girlfriend made when she first saw me.
"Remind me why I said you should come back?" He said holding his head dramatically.
"For someone that was begging me not to go a few minutes ago, you sure are ungrateful." I laughed.
"Yeah... Like you wanted to go?" He raised his left brow.
"I only came back because of the threat of the lawsuit," I argued weakly. Even I knew my statement couldn't hold water because it had no base.
"You and I know that is a blatant lie." Liam chuckled.
My face heated up and I mumbled a 'whatever', because i really didn't know how to defend myself.
"I knew it! You can't do without me."
"Keep telling yourself that and you will see me walking out of this door for good, Lawsuit be damned." I threatened.
That shut Liam up faster than I could say, Jack. But honestly, his statement got me thinking, Have I started falling for Liam?

So it's finally three months that I've been working for Liam and it's been so amazing. I think although it seems funny, our argument brought us closer. Now we eat in the office and trade childhood stories and memories.
I even told him what Alina said about me getting some boy action better than Maddie when she said I kissed the boy at the gala. The whole thing was weird because Liam kind of froze when I told him the story.

I bumped my shoulder on his, "Are you okay? You kinda zoned out on me." I smiled.
"I'm so sorry. I was thinking about something else." He smiled sheepishly.
"It's fine, although you should have told me I have been talking for a really long time and you were bored to death." I teased.
"What? Of course not. That was a pretty bold statement your cousin made. How come she hasn't come to visit you 'cause I'll like to meet her."
"She's really busy right now but probably later." I rushed. The truth is yeah, Alina was busy but the thought of meeting some of our relations scared me. It made me think we were moving way past the boundary of friendship like we were heading for the relationship thing.

"What are you doing coming to work this early?" A voice startled me when I came in early to finish on a paperwork Liam said was really important. I almost dropped the two cups of coffee i ordered that morning. Although some droplets got to the table, it was fine.

I turned to the location of the voice and said, "Didn't they teach you that it's rude to speak to someone with the lights out? What if I have a case of heart attack, Chris?"
"Hey," He groaned, "How do you know my name? Oh, never mind, Liam would have told you just like he would have told me if you had heart disease. Trust me, that guy knows everything about you."
"Well, I have heard so much about you. It's a pleasure meeting you." I said stretching my hand for a handshake. He gripped my palm with equal vigor, "The pleasure is all mine by the way. Besides you are very pretty, do you want to ditch my brother and be with me?" He said, obviously teasing.
"We are not dating Chris. He has a girlfriend. Don't you know?" I scrunched my face in confusion.

Chris looked puzzled, "They are still together? Well, I thought with you, and... You know what? Never mind. It even makes it all better, we can elope together if my brother doesn't support our relationship. So what do you say charming eyes?" He smiled widely.

I got to admit, he's really funny and it wasn't long that Liam entered the office through the back door.

"I would have asked what are you doing here and when you got in? But knowing how weird you are, I don't think I need to bother."
Chris stood up to hug Liam, and that was when I noticed how tall Liam was. Like I haven't actually thought of it, I mostly went with the flow. I just thought he's tall, so, almost everyone is tall. But now that I see him towering above Chris who is also tall, I think he may be bordering in the giant section. Keynote- Ask him how he gets his clothes especially the trousers.
"Jet Li, I would say I didn't miss you but then I'll be lying because I didn't have anyone to tell or keep me in check."
"Is that so?" Liam then turned to me, "Has he asked you to elope with him yet?" I smiled and nodded.
"You Jackass, I knew you couldn't stop yourself."
"What? I see a pretty lady, I'll most certainly go for the kill. Besides she's single and ready to mingle." He smirked.
"Yeah? Is that why you told a Sultan's daughter in Dubai last week to elope with you?" He questioned, with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Chris groaned, "Stop embarrassing me in front of my prospective girlfriend, should she say yes. Which I know she will, besides in my defense, I never knew she was a Sultan's daughter. I was only joking and the father legit thought I really wanted to elope with his precious diamond and sent boys after me. I never ran faster to the airport." Chris finished.
I suddenly burst into laughter, "So you think you still want to date him?" Liam asked.
"Well... He's fun." I teased.
"Take that. She likes me and you can not separate us. Now about that eloping plan, do you think we should go by train? The road and ship so Liam can't trace us..." He continued talking as he led me back to my desk. I can actually see why Liam loves his brother, he was a ray of sunshine.
I saw the way Liam smiled and shook his head fondly. And I thought to myself, this is how a sibling relationship should be, not constant yelling at each other.

For the past two weeks, since Chris came back, it's been amazing. He's funny, quirky and an amazing person.
Everything has been going on well until I saw something I wasn't supposed to see. So I finished work one day and I was about heading home, when Brie called to get her a non-alcoholic wine from a specific bar and that I should just say her name and he'll know the right one to give me.

"Yes mom," I said as I entered my car.
"Stop it. It's April that's the mom." She said and hung up.
Brie hated it when i call her a mom, she said it makes her feel old. She likes to feel like she's the fun and flexible person. I still call her anyway because I know she hates it. Just like i still send a voice note to Chris my best friend no matter how many times he's said he hates it.
"Brie sent me. She said you'll know the right one." I smiled at the bartender.
He smiled back and handed me a bottle. I paid him and turned to see something I wasn't expecting to see.

The glass of wine dropped from my hand and shattered.
