It had been about a week since the breakup and Julianna has barely left her room. Lexi would bring in some water and food for her but she'd only have a few bites before not wanting any more. Lexi felt her heart break from watching her best friend in such a state.

Her, Demetri, Miguel, Tory and sometimes Robby would all take days to check up on Julianna but it was always mainly Lexi and Demetri.

Lexi banged on Miguel's door until a concerned Carmen finally opened it. "Is everything alright, mija?" Carmen carefully asked the girl. "Did Miguel already leave for karate?" Lexi asked urgently and Carmen shook her head, opening the door wider to show Miguel at the dining table with his grandma.

Miguel shot up from his seat and walked towards the door. "Lex, what wro-" "Come on." Lexi said, grabbing Miguel's arm and tugging him to the Lawrence house. Lexi barged into the house and walked towards Julianna's room, opening the door to show off the mess. Tissues on and surrounding the bed while Julianna lied down on the mountain of tissues, curled up under a fluffy blanket.

"She hasn't gotten out of bed. She needs to go to karate." "I'm not going!" Julianna whined from under the blanket and Lexi groaned, pulling to rip the blanket off of Julianna but she had a tight grip. Lexi sighed pointing at Julianna as she faced Miguel. "Help."

"I thought she was all good after you and Tory's little speech?" Miguel screeched and Lexi shook her head. "For a few hours! Then she went back to this mess."

"Hey! I'm not a mess!"

...

Somehow, Lexi and Miguel had gotten Julianna to go to the dojo and on the whole ride over, she planned she'd act as normal as possible but once she got to there, her plan crumbled.

Julianna walked into the dojo behind Johnny and Lexi so she wouldn't be seen right away, hoping to just blend in but once she remembered her dad was gone for a while too, everyone looked towards them.

"Glad to have you back, Johnny. And who is that behind you?" Kreese asked. Julianna slowly peaked her head out from behind her father and Kreese chuckled. "Ah... Miss Lawrence, good to see you. Miss Gomez, Miss Nichols and Mr. Diaz said you were terribly ill." Kreese said, opening his arms out as he smiled at the girl.

Julianna sent a grateful smile to her three friends before quickly turning back to Kreese. "Feels good to be back, Sensei Kreese."

"Okay, everybody, get on your gis on. Training starts in five minutes." Johnny screamed to get the attention off his daughter. After hearing a lot of the students murmur in confusion, Johnny scoffed. "What's wrong?"

Miguel shook his head. "N- nothing's wrong. I just thought we were going to the woods for a special training today." Julianna turned to Lexi in confusion. "Special training?" Lexi shrugged. "Don't look at me."

"What's happening in the woods?" Johnny asked and Kreese walked up, putting a hand on Johnny's shoulder. "Well, I thought it was a good time to separate the men from the boys." Lexi cleared her throat and Kreese quickly pointed at the four girls standing together. "And the girls, too, I suppose."

"How?" Johnny asked, making the older man smirk. "Coyote Creek." Johnny sighed. "I'm not sure they're ready for that."

"We're ready Sensei. We wanna prove ourselves." Julianna practically shivered at the Hawks voice. She had surprisingly forgotten he was at the dojo until he spoke. Lexi and Tory, noticing how uncomfortable she was, each grabbed one of her hands.

"It's up to Sensei Lawrence. If he says it's okay, then, and only then, is it okay." Kreese said. Johnny looked around the kids and finally nodded when he saw Julianna nodding, wanting to go. "All right, what are you waiting for? Let's go."

...

Sadly, the students didn't get to choose who drove with who so Lexi ended up driving Hawk, Julianna, Miguel, Aisha, Tory and Bert.

Lexi and Julianna took the front seats and Aisha, Miguel and Tory all quickly scrambled to the middle seats so Hawk would have to sit in the back, farthest from Julianna.

Hawk and Julianna were silent the whole car ride as their friends screamed the lyrics to the songs on the radio. Julianna sat in the passengers seat with her knees pulled to her chest as she stared out the window, watching the cars drive by while Hawk watch her from afar, taking in everything he could notice that was different about her since he last saw her.

She had bags under her red, swollen eyes, her lips were cut up and chapped from biting her lip for the passed few days to keep in her sobs and her nose was rough and red from all the cheap tissues she used. Hawk felt the guilt practically fill him up as he watched her and remembered what had been said that night they broke up.

"This isn't the boy I fell in love with."

Julianna loves him and he let her down.

He broke her.

...

Julianna stood in between her father and Kreese as the rest of the class lined up, team red and team black. Julianna was standing closer to team black so she wouldn't have to be near Hawk and luckily, Lexi was the first in line on team black.

"Gentlemen, ladies. Welcome to Coyote Creek. You've been split into two teams. Red... and black. The goal is to capture as many headbands as possible. Today, the people across from you are not your friends. They're not your brothers. They're not your sisters or any of that crap. They are the enemy." Julianna shook her head at the word. Enemy. But quickly composed her self at the feeling of eyes on her.

"How do we get the headbands?" Miguel asked from between and Tory and Lexi. "By any means possible. No rules." Kreese quickly answered but Johnny shook his head. "Use your judgement. This is a training exercise."

"Correct, but remember, this is your life. You lose it... you die."

Julianna heard heavy footsteps from behind her and watched as Chubs ran up in a whole new look. "Hey guys! Sorry I'm late. Traffic on the 118 was a real bitch. Put Coyote Creek into the nav. Nothing came up."

"What are you wearing?" Lexi gasped as she stared at the man. "Oh, this? Yeah, you know what, I just decided to flip the script, Hawk-style. Respect. Heretofore, you can refer to me... as Stingray." Lexi scoffed, looking down. "I don't know if you wanna be like Hawk, not everyone's his biggest fan of him at the moment." Julianna quickly kicked Lexi's shin as Miguel cleared his throat so people wouldn't hear her but they did.

Johnny nodded. "Yeah, alright, Chubs." Johnny turned to Kreese. "He's on your team." Kreese rolled his eyes before looking at Julianna. "Miss Lawrence, which team are you on?" Julianna shot her head up from the ground and stared at the man, opening and closing her mouth until Johnny wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Jules isn't participating today."

Kreese shook his head. "Nonsense. There's still one more spot on my team. Here." Kreese handed her a red headband and lightly grabbed her shoulder, pulling her into his line. "Come stand by Hawk." Julianna shut her eyes tight when she felt Hawk's shoulder brush against hers. When she opened her eyes, Lexi was already looking at her worriedly as she could see Hawk looking at her from the corner of her eye.

Julianna slowly shook her head to tell Lexi she was fine, Lexi slightly nodded her head to her right, silently telling Julianna to meet her there. "May the best Cobra win."

As soon as they were allowed to, Julianna and Lexi ran in the direction Lexi motioned to and hid behind a bush. "Take it. Take it. Take it." Julianna whispered, ripping the headband off of her head and handing it to Lexi. "Are you sur-" "Lexi!" Julianna interrupted and Lexi quickly snatched the headband out of Julianna's hand.

"Okay, now you just need to help me win." Lexi said and Julianna looked up at the tiny part of her baseball cap that she could see out of  her line of eyesight and looking back at Lexi. "Do you still keep super glue with you?" Lexi smirked, pulling the tiny bottle out of her pocket. "All the time."

Julianna took the little bottle out of Lexi's hands before grabbing fallen leaves off the ground, putting a little dollop of glue on the ends of them before sticking them to her cap.

"What are you doing?" Lexi asked, moving her legs into a criss cross position. "I'm glueing these leaves to my hat so you'll be in camouflage. I don't really care about this hat so... we are using it to an advantage. I mean... Hello? Have you ever seen Camp Rock 2?"

Once she glued as many leaves as she could to her hat, she rested it on her friends head, laughing at how crazy she looked.

"So, how are you and Metri?" Julianna asked once she grew tired of the silence as she picked her nails. "What- what are you talking about?" Lexi stuttered out, making Julianna chuckle.

"I'm not stupid, Lex. I know about you and Demetri. He told me one time when it was his 'shift' to watch me." Julianna frowned at Lexi. "Why didn't you tell me?" Lexi sighed, running her hand through the dirt mindlessly. "You've been crying all week 'cause of Hawk and what, I'm just supposed to push your feelings aside and tell you about me and my new relationship after you just got out of yours?" Julianna gave her a look before nodding. "Yes! Lex, you have liked Demetri for so long as much as you don't like to talk about it, you know it's true. I don't care of I just got out of a breakup. I wanna be the first person you tell when you get in a relationship."

Lexi smiled, grabbing Julianna's hand as the blonde smirked. "Who made the first move?" Julianna watched in amusement as blush cascaded over Lexi's face. "Demetri... After we dropped you off at home, I went to drive him home and before he got out of the car, he kissed me goodnight." Julianna smiled before cheering a bit. "Yes! I won!"

Lexi furrowed her eyebrows. "What are you talking about?" "Hawk and I made a bet about who would be the one to make the first move. I said 50 for Demetri and he believed it would be you. He owes me 50 bucks... If we were on speaking terms..."

It was quiet before Lexi looked up at Julianna, a smile on her face. "You know, Joey's supposed to be coming home soon?" Julianna smiled, sitting up. "Really?" Lexi nodded.

Joey was Lexi's older brother. When Lexi and Julianna headed into freshman year, Joey got sent away to boarding school for getting in a school fight. He would sometimes write letters to his sister but other than that, he wasn't heard from.

"Yeah, my mom said that it's too close to the first day for him to be able to go to school with us so he'll be enrolled in after the first week into the school year. She thought he deserved his senior year not stuck at that school." Lexi said and Julianna smiled. "That's good."

"Team Black!" Miguel screamed from a little away and Lexi turned to Julianna. "Is that our queue to head back?" Julianna shrugged. "I guess."

The girls creeped their way to the group, watching all of team Black congratulate Miguel when suddenly, Stingray came out from under the leaves on the ground and putting Miguel in a chokehold. The girls quickly ducked into the bushes as Stingray whispered something in Miguel's ear before ripping his headband off. "The red team just won!" Stingray cheered, backing up right in front of the bush Julianna and Lexi were crouched in and Lexi swiftly got up, taking the headband off the mans head.

"Wha- But-" "Sorry, Sting, I can't hear you over my victory!" Lexi yelled, moving some of the dangling leaves from her hat away from her eyes before throwing her arms up in victory as Julianna got up from the floor, bringing a hand up to her mouth.

"Boo-Yah! I win!" Lexi cheered as she swung Julianna and Stingrays headbands around as she did Gangnam Style, making Julianna's laugh escape her hands. Tory smiled from hearing her laughter again and quickly elbowed Miguel. "Look. She's smiling and laughing." Tory quietly said, gesturing her head to Julianna.

Miguel turned and watched as Julianna had her hand up to her mouth to cover her giggles. Hawk, who heard Tory's words, turned to face the pair. "She hasn't been laughing?" Miguel just looked at Hawk before looking back at Lexi, pulling out his phone and taking a photo of her in the leaf hat. "That's going to Demetri." He mumbled, quickly texting it to Julianna and when she looked down at her phone, she giggled even more.

"How did you even make that hat?" Aisha asked with a laugh as she admired Lexi's leaf hat. Lexi smirked, taking it off. "I always keep a little bottle of super glue with me incase I break a nail. When I got Jules out, she said I could use her hat for camouflage. We found a bunch of leaves and glued them to the hat and Boom!" Lexi said with a smile and Aisha turned to Julianna. "Nice." Julianna and Aisha high fived, a small laugh escaping Julianna's lips. She saw Hawk watching her out of the corner of her eye, and as much as she didn't want it to, her stomach fluttered seeing him.
