It was Demetri and Eli's first day at Cobra Kai and Julianna was trying everything she could to prepare them for her father.

"I just wanted to warn you guys." Julianna breathed out, almost as if she was scared. "Of?" Demetri asked, moving his hands around to tell her to continue. "Of my dad."

Demetri and Eli looked at each other before turning to Julianna in confusion. "Look, you haven't met him before. He's a little insensitive-" "A little?" Lexi interrupted, putting a hand over her mouth to stifle her laugh. Julianna turned to Lexi, giving her a glare before turning back to the boys.

"It's just... he doesn't have a filter. He'll say anything, not really realizing it's hurting people's feelings... Or he just doesn't care. Look, he just might make fun of you guys for looking nerdy." Julianna said, not really meeting either of the boys eyes.

"Did you just say we look nerdy?" Demetri asked as if it was the worst insult he's ever heard. "Are you saying you two don't? I mean, 'Metri you're wearing a goddamn pi shirt." Lexi laughed out, a smirk taking over her entire face. Demetri looked down at his shirt before wrapping his flannel around himself, coving the image.

"We can take it, Jules. You don't have to worry." Eli spoke, making Julianna finally meet their eyes. "He might make fun of your li-" "Quiet!" Johnny screamed, shutting up every person in the dojo.

"Face front." He demanded. The four friends faced Johnny, Julianna in between Eli and Lexi, Demetri on the other side of the brunette, watching closely as Johnny walked through the crowd of new students.

When Johnny got up to Demetri he pointed at his shirt. "Nice shirt." Demetri smiled, giving Lexi a proud smile before turning back to Johnny. "Thanks."

"I'm joking. It sucks." Lexi snickered a laugh, Johnny high-fiving her as he passed before making fun of more students.

"When I look around this dojo, I don't see Cobra Kai material. I see losers. I see nerds. I see a fat kid with a hat with his tits popping out. But, in my short time as a sensei, I've also seen some miracles. So maybe there's some hope for you. But first, I need to see where you're at. So everybody fall in!"

Lexi, Julianna, Aisha and Miguel all started to 'fall in' while everyone else stood around in confusion.

"That means line up!" Johnny screamed and the kids nodded their heads, standing behind the four students that have already been in Cobra Kai. "No, not... not line up in a line. Lines! Get in lines."

"You mean like... rows?" Demetri asked from Julianna's line. Lexi and Julianna both tried to hold in their laughs when Johnny rolled his eyes, facepalming.

...

Johnny was walking around the class as everyone did jab-punches and Julianna froze when he called out the one kid she didn't want him to, and of course using a nickname that would upset him.

"Hey, Lip."

Everyone froze as Julianna and Lexi gave him a look that practically begged him to stop but he didn't. "Yeah, you. The one with the freaky lip. Who do you think I'm talking to?"

Julianna shook her head, a lump forming in her throat at the embarrassment Eli was feeling. "Dad-" "Sensei Lawrence!" Aisha screamed, cutting her off. Julianna gave her a look, immediately making her back off as she turned back to her dad. "Can you please stop?"

Johnny looked at his daughter in confusion, shrugging his shoulders. "Why?" "You really shouldn't make fun of someone's physical appearance." Demetri spoke up.

"Oh, is that so? So, I'm not supposed to mention his lip at all?" Johnny asked, feeling Julianna's stare but he kept his eyes on Demetri. "Maybe that's what they teach you in school, but in the real world, you can't expect people to do what they're supposed to do. You hear that, Lip? If you can't handle someone making fun of you, how are you gonna handle an elbow to the teeth?"

"By calling the police?" Demetri asked. "Dude, knock it off." Miguel whispered to him. "What? He does realize the Nazis lost the war, right? Why should I be scared of him? Because he's got a snake on his wall? It's not like he's a teacher who can give us a bad grade. We're paying him. He works for us. It's not like he can actually hurt us." Demetri told the room and Julianna subconsciously started shaking her head no, knowing her dad will get mad.

"Demetri, dude... Shut. Up." She whispered to him as her dad walked passed her and up to him. "This isn't gonna be good, is it?" Lexi asked, leaning over Julianna's ear so only she could hear. Julianna instantly shook her head. "Probably not."

"Hit me." Johnny demanded and Julianna's eyes grew wide, the kids backing up to let Demetri and Johnny have the floor. "Go ahead, hit me. Strike me right here." Johnny repeated, pointing at his face. Demetri got in his fighting stance and threw a punch but Julianna's dad blocked it. "Harder."

Demetri sighed, throwing a harder punch but that one was blocked too. "Is that all you got, princess?"

Julianna could feel Eli reach for her hand and she quickly grabbed it, squeezing it to calm them both down.

Demetri threw another punch and Johnny again blocked his arm but this time, flipped him onto his back. Julianna hid her face in Eli's shoulder, hating that her father did that to one of her closest friends. She knows he did it to make them better but she hated that he had to embarrass Demetri to do it.

"Let that be a lesson to all of you." Johnny stated, pointing a finger at every student but Julianna kept her eyes on Demetri who was just barely starting to sit up. When his eyes met Julianna's, he could see that she felt bad. "I'm sorry." She mouthed to him. Demetri shook his head as if to say 'no problem' before getting up all the way.

...

The next day, Julianna and Lexi were already in biology when Demetri and Miguel walked in talking about karate before the conversation traveled to Miguel's infatuation with Sam LaRusso. Julianna has heard about the Lawrence and LaRusso rivalry for as long as she's been alive but she never hated Sam. She wasn't her father just like Julianna wasn't hers.

"All I'm saying is that Sam seems like a nice girl. Not a mean rich girl." Miguel shrugged out.

"Speak of the devil." Lexi mumbled and they all turned their heads to the classroom door.

Julianna watched as Sam walked into the class, a lollipop stuck to her back. Julianna whistled, catching Sam's attention, Julianna pointed to her own back as if telling Sam to check hers and when she finds the candy, she sends Julianna a grateful smile before ripping it off.

"Thanks for the blow pop, guys. Really never gets old." Sam said, her fake laugh echoing through the room as Julianna rolled her eyes. "God, I hate Kyler and his little..." "Minions. They're like his minions." Lexi finished for the blonde, Julianna instantly agreeing.

"It's cause she gives blowjobs. Get it? Blow Pop. Blow... Job-" Demetri told the three, as if it wasn't obvious. Lexi crumbled up her scratch paper, throwing it at his head.

"Hey, everybody. Who let the pigs out? I did, because I ordered the fetal pigs. But seriously, get in your groups." The teacher announced

Julianna reached into her backpack to grab her notebook when the teacher spoke again. "Who wants to take Samantha in? This little piggy needs a group." Julianna was ready to raise her hand but Lexi grabbed it, stopping her. "Let him." Lexi whispered, gesturing to Miguel who was slowly lifting his hand. "We'll take her."

Sam nodded, walking over to her table to grab her bag then going for a seat at the boys table, brushing shoulders with Demetri as she passed him.

Julianna and Lexi watched with amused grins as Demetri stared at his arm before sniffing it, sighing in contempt. Lexi quickly grabbed another blank paper, crumbling it and throwing it at his head, and catching Sam's attention. Lexi gave the girl an innocent smile, shrugging her shoulders. "Sorry, spasm."

...

After school that day, Julianna, Lexi, Eli and Miguel headed to the dojo. Demetri had decided he didn't want to be in Cobra Kai and they completely understood but they still wanted to go themselves.

A lot of people seemed to have the same thoughts as Demetri because over half the class was gone.

"Where is everyone? Crater-face? Nose ring? Slingshot?" Johnny asked when he walked out of his office. Julianna sighed. "They quit, Sensei."

Johnny looked at his daughter in shock. "You serious?" Julianna barely nodded her head and Johnny sighed. "Well good. That was a test. I wanted to see who the quitters are. Not you guys. You're in it to win it, right? You can be home playing your iComputers, playing your video games, eating candy. Instead you're here, doing pushups, learning how to fight."

Johnny looked around the room before his eyes landed on Eli and he quickly pointed at him. "Lip. Look. Even Lip's tougher than those guys. He's no quitter."

"Could you please not call me that?" Eli spoke up, making Julianna whip her head over to him. "Excuse me, what?" Johnny asked, taking a step closer to him. "I said, could you please not call me that."

"Um, I'll warm them up, Sensei." Miguel interrupted but Johnny put a hand out, stopping him. "No, Lip has something he wants to say. Sorry, speak up, Lip. Or is your tongue messed up too? Are you one of those challenged kids?"

"Dad-" "Um... the doctor said I could be on the spectrum." Eli cut her off.

"I don't know what that is but get off it pronto. All right? If you don't want me to call you 'Lip', then don't have a weird lip. Can't you get surgery for that?" Johnny shot at him.

"I was born with a cleft lip. This is the scar from the surgery." Eli explained and Johnny cringed. "You mean it was worse before that? Or did the doctor just screw up? Because of this is the after photo, that sucks, man. You should sue." "Dad!" Julianna hissed from beside Miguel who was shaking his head, hating what was happening.

"Can we please change the topic?" Eli quietly asked, not meeting Johnny's eyes. "You don't think I want to? It's tough when it's right in front of me. You wanna be something other than a nerd with a scar on his lip, you got to flip the script. Ok? Get a face tattoo or gauge your eye out and we'll call you 'patch' all right?"

"Please don't gauge your eye out." Julianna whispered to Eli, shaking her head and Johnny quickly nodded with her. "Yeah. She's right actually. Don't do that one. You'll still look like a freak."

Eli turned to Julianna, giving her the saddest look she had ever seen him wear before running out of the dojo. Julianna watched as he went went she felt a hand on her shoulder. "I got him." Lexi mumbled before following after him.

...

After class, Johnny headed straight to his office, Julianna right behind him, absolutely pissed.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Julianna announced as Johnny reached for a beer from his mini fridge. "Oh... come on, Jules. They're a bunch of losers."

"It doesn't matter! Some of those people you were picking on are my best friends!" Julianna screamed, pointing to the main room.

"It was 'Lip' and the smartass from yesterday, right?" Johnny asked, confusing Julianna. Johnny sighed. "Those two are your friends. They're the only ones you tried to stand up for."

Julianna shook her head. "You wanted a full dojo and you got one." "Not full like that." Johnny said, taking a sip of beer. "Yeah, I get it. They're losers. But did you forget I'm a loser? Miguel? Lexi's a loser? You don't get it, Dad! You were the kid that picked on our kind when you were in high school!"

"Jules-" "You were the ones pushing kids in lockers when you passed them in the halls! The one who would give some random kid a swirly or beat the shit out of a kid in a strip mall parking lot! And now... there are kids who are like you when you were younger doing the same things to us. To your daughter and her friends. So how about, you grow a pair and just teach karate to the fucking kids who need it!" Julianna screamed, stomping out of the room and out of the dojo.

As she was walking home, she quickly started calling Lexi. After a few rings she finally heard her friends voice on the other end. "Heya, Jules. Everything okay?"

"Eli. How's Eli?" Julianna asked and Lexi chuckled. "I'm okay!" Eli screamed to the phone, making Julianna feel a bit better. "I'm helping him with what Sensei said." Julianna furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Wait. What do you mean? He said DONT gauge his eye out! Eli! Don't gauge your eye out!"

"And that's why he's not doing that but he is getting a makeover. Don't worry! Xoxo!" Lexi screamed into the phone, before making obnoxiously loud kissing noises and then hanging up. Something she always did to Julianna, Eli and Demetri when she was doing something she didn't want them to know the full details on.

...

The next day, there were less kids than normal but there wasn't a huge drop in students which pleased Julianna a bit.

Johnny walked out of his office, trying everything in his power to not meet his daughters eyes but even if he tried to, her stared were pointed at the ground. "Three more absences, Sensei." Miguel informed as Aisha scoffed. "Bunch of pussies."

"No, it's my fault." Johnny muttered, pulling Julianna's sight away from the mat and to her father. "Since you joined Cobra Kai, I have been hard on you. I've called you names. I've humiliated you. Some of you, I've hit. And for that, I don't apologize. Cobra Kai is about strength. If you're not strong on the inside, you can't be strong on the outside. And right now... you're all weak. And I know that, because I was you."

Julianna rose her brows at her father, who started fidgeting his fingers under her stare for lying to his students but he kept going. "I used to have no friends. Used to be the weirdo kid. Not that weird, I still hooked up with babes and all, but... The point is, I wasn't the badass sensei I am today. Just like a cobra, I had to shed my loser skin to find my true power. And you guys will too."

Julianna scoffed, making Johnny turn right at his daughter, everyone in the dojo turning to the two Lawrence's. Johnny got right in his daughter's face. "Is there something wrong, Miss Lawrence?" Johnny announced, Julianna wincing from how close he was and loud he was. She glared at her dad before shaking her head no. "No, Sensei."

The jingle of the door drew Julianna's head away from her father and to whoever walked in. She froze as who it was as Lexi smirked. "Eli? Holy- What... what happened?" Julianna asked, stumbling over her words at the sight of Eli, more specifically, his bright blue mohawk.

Lexi leaned towards Julianna's ear. "I told you. Make over."

"I'm flipping the script." Eli said, keeping his eyes on Julianna who was frozen. "Wait. You're the kid with the lip? Nice cut, bro!" Johnny cheered. "You see that? Doesn't matter if you're a loser or a nerd or a freak. All that matters is that you become badass."

Johnny turned back to Eli. "Hawk. Fall in."

Hawk smirked, taking off his shoes and standing next to Julianna who finally learned to look away and was now facing the mirror but her eyes would still wander over to his reflection beside hers.

"Fear does not exist in this dojo, does it?" Johnny asked Hawk. "No, Sensei." Johnny nodded, walking in front of Julianna. "Pain does not exist in this dojo, does it?" Julianna kept her eyes locked on her own reflection. "No, Sensei." Johnny walked over to Lexi. "Defeat does not exist in this dojo, does it?" "No, Sensei."

Johnny turned to face the front, standing in front of the space between Lexi and Aisha. "Class, are you ready to learn the way of the fist?"

"Yes, Sensei!"

Julianna's eyes fell back onto Hawk's reflection to find him already looking at her through the mirror as well. He sent her a small smirk before facing the front again. Julianna felt a flutter in her stomach as her cheeks grew hot and a smile etched onto her face.

She was already starting to like Hawk.
