Leyland Adventures Chapter Three: Part Two

With gleaming eyes glued to the lily pads spread out across sky-blue water, the two sat on the edge of the wooden brown dock. His thoughts were removed from the egg and instead focused on an important question.

"Aradressa, I've been meaning to ask about the war. I didn't mention it before because I thought it was inappropriate to discuss after you told me about your father."

"Thank you for that. The war commenced while mother was grasping control of the majority of the Kula Region due to the popular vote. The only person preventing her from achieving total control was the current ruler of the region, Cynthia. Mother fought to protect the people with her elite army of potent guards and godly might while Cynthia only revered her own stats. Both sides clashed together in a fierce battle that nearly eradicated the region entirely. Such a massive display of potency led to the unfortunate deaths of many, including my noble father. Ultimately, mother surpassed her army and gained control. However, the immensely colossal plot of land Cynthia still possesses currently belongs to her until she signs it away or dies. This historic moment was titled, The Queens' War."

She later stated that Cynthia's current whereabouts were unknown. With a blank stare, he sat silently while comparing the apocalyptic war to some events of his own. Lenovo wasn't known for lingering peace; the lush gardens of grass were constantly ruined by the filthy monsters who didn't deserve to roam.

Perhaps the topic of war was a sensitive topic for them both.

Feeling poisoned by his silence, she reached for his hand with a wide smile. As his perfect azure eyes met hers, he accepted the smooth curves and gentle hills of her hand.

"We can allow the sublime texture of ice cream to deliver a more positive mindset, would you like that?"

He nodded, and thus they traveled to Kula Outlet with the suspicious egg nuzzled in her arms.

With a deep cup of mint ice cream to share, Aradressa positioned the egg in close proximity to the cup. Her spoon stole handfuls while Tysashi didn't even pick up his. Thoughts of unimaginable destruction invaded his mind. It was a battlefield, and the enemy was uncertainty. Storms of gunfire soared across the area as the casualties skyrocketed. Eventually, a treaty was approved.

"Aradressa, I'm sorry but I'll be heading back to the castle. You can continue without me."

Extending her head towards him, her pupils bobbed. "Tysashi, is something the matter?"

He turned. "I'm not preventing you from taking care of the egg. However, the longer I look at it, my predictions become more intense. I want to respect your decision, and my intentions would only prevent you from keeping the creature safe."

"Tysashi..."

Studying her quivering lips, he smiled. "I'll take the Funni Fruit to Marissa."

With no other choice, she willingly surrendered the fruit as if it was a newborn. Thanking her, he returned to the castle only to meet Alfred inside.

"Where's the princess?" Alfred inquired.

Before he answered, Tysashi had given him the requested items.

"Aradressa told me in order to get the first gemstone, I would have to defeat a dragon. While exploring, I found an egg that was seemingly abandoned in a dirty, messy nest. She decided to take care of it while I thought the dragon was inside it. I wanted to respect her decisions but the egg only reminded me of the times where I didn't go with my instincts and others were hurt. At that point, I decided to come back here to ease myself. This way, I can accept the situation, and we can raise the egg together."

"Well, you're definitely a hero with morals."

Just then, the sudden clap of deafening thunder echoed as the clouds became gray and gloomy. Seas of rain drowned the surface as fierce winds bullied the innocent trees.

Alfred turned to him, asking about the appearance of the egg.

"It was white with red polka-dot spots."

"Those eggs are only produced by a rare creature, the offspring are never left behind. The dragon must've consumed the young and parents while sealing itself in their egg. Don't concern yourself about how the process occurs; just know those dragons feed and grow off thermal energy. It is likely the princess wasn't aware of this."

"That means the egg could hatch at any moment! I gotta go, thanks for the information." Tysashi sped out the door in search for Aradressa; his body was immediately drenched in cloud tears.

"Should I have told him Aradressa can handle such a savage beast? Ah, he'll figure it out."

He returned to his current task, cooking for the residents of the castle. Nobody forced him to; it was just out of the kindness of his heart that motivated him. The queen works hard enough and rarely considers taking a break. She gives adequate protection and support for her troops. In return, she receives royalty. True compassion and devotion doesn't come from excessive fear; it comes from the sacrifices you are willing to make for the wellbeing of your troops.
