Leyland Adventures Chapter Thirteen: Part Twenty-Seven

"So are we done here?" She waited for any response Fayemi could give. She heard nothing.

"I guess we are. Well, this was fun, but I have a painting to complete." With the intention of turning her body into glass, she drew closer to the pile of snow.

However, her body halted by the sight of the snow sinking into Fayemi's body. She stared with curiosity, refusing to let her eyes look at anything else.

"Potential Awakened: Frozen Chrysalis!"

With those words, she enveloped herself in ice, pushing Glace's interest even further. As time passed, the ice began to crack, eventually releasing her. Her hair, now as white as ice, rested on her back. A hint of vengeance could be seen within her eyes if you looked long enough. That spark of hope was no longer a spark, but a beacon of light.

"I didn't expect you to have a Potential Form. I don't have one, as upsetting as that might be." Her tone still reminded Fayemi she didn't take her power seriously.

"Enough of your crap, Glace. I'm going to end this, right here and now."

Glace watched her mouth form every word, wondering if she could level up to her strength with this new power.

"I hope so, you're eating into my nap time. Taking you all over the place is exhausting."

Glace used an old trick, the ability to copy herself. Not only that, but the clones turned invisible. Fayemi assumed the duplicates were approaching. Although this time, Alfred wasn't there to guide her.

Even so, she filled her lungs with freezing wind, and expelled an effective blast of ice. With her one attack, every target was defeated.

"Darn, that was my favorite technique. You really have gotten stronger."

A light sigh passed out her mouth, vanishing in an instant. She was quick enough to get behind Glace before she could react. Her algid touch poured an uncomfortable chill in her body. The extreme temperature had a much harsher affect on Glace. Her body quivered as a response, losing the ability to stand or use her wings.

"Aww, too cold?" She taunted, giving Glace a spoonful of her own medicine.

"Indeed. I'm finally able to use this ability, though."

Within the blink of an eye, a mirror faced Fayemi. Her reflection was saved, stepping out the mirror. She was hardly visible, allowing her to slip past Fayemi. The reflection merged with Glace, granting her one of Fayemi's abilities.

Now, she could withstand the unforgiving climate.

"D- did you just steal an ability?" Fayemi stuttered, stunned by confusion.

"Yes, it's called Embodiment. It allows me to temporarily utilize any ability from your being. I can't choose which ability I steal, though. Can you believe I'm fortunate enough to get your resistance to the cold?"

Fayemi didn't bother to respond. Instead, she encased herself in a large orb of ice, decorated with spikes. She rolled in place before launching towards Glace, who only moved a few inches to avoid the attack. She continued to dance around her attack until she got bored.

Charging towards Glace, snow was scattered across the area. With a bit of patience, she managed to get her in the mirror. Another mirror was positioned in the sky, dropping her to the ground. Upon impact, the ice shattered across the snow. Though protected, she kneeled with her hand sinking into the snow.

"That was an interesting attack; I've never seen that one before."

She picked herself up, chuckling as she did so. "Bet you've never seen this one either. Aurora Beam!"

After inhaling an abundance of air, she spewed a wide beam of ice. An attack that would instantly freeze anything in its way. Glace immediately fled the scene as she kept her attack going. She exerted so much air from her lungs that she required twice the amount of oxygen to breathe.

During her desperate attempt to regain her energy, a thought dawned on her.

"You know, you sure like to run away. Disappearing between all those mirrors like a coward! Come and fight me like the goddess you claim you are!" Her booming voice echoed into the vast field of snow.

Glace reappeared with a few words of her own.

"But it's so fun watching you use these special abilities. Besides, I don't have a Potential Form, sorry."

Her response woke Fayemi up to the unfortunate reality. Glace would always be able to avoid her long-distance attacks, meaning she's just wasting her time. She had to approach Glace up close.

She crafted a massive snowball, large enough to cover her body. Launching it towards Glace, she disappeared without notice. As she responded to the attack, Fayemi managed to knock her down into the snow.

This was her chance to deal substantial damage. Fayemi took hold of Glace and pinned her against the mountain. The mountain shook violently as she repeatedly slammed Glace into the structure.

Slightly angered, Glace retracted her head only to sling it at Fayemi's face. Her hands automatically covered her bleeding nose. Her eyes were tightly closed.

Glace grabbed Fayemi's hand and swapped places with her. Placing most of her power within her fist, Glace struck with enough force to send her through the mountain.

Shards of rock pierced her skin, oozing blood. Even opening her eyes would cause more pain to surge through her body. As she was laid in the snow, she could use it to recover. Though, Glace picked her up, lifting her from the snow.

"You know, it just dawned on me that you reached your Potential Form through the snow. With that knowledge, you could keep your Potential Form forever. So, let's go somewhere with the opposite climate."

With the hints she gave, it was obvious where Glace would take the battle next.
