Your POV

"Well this is definitely not the Enchanted Forest," I said looking back toward my rescuers. They were all staring between me and the ogre. "Seems like you've got quite a story, lass," one of them said. He had pigtail braids and an odd shaped hat. I recognized most of the company as dwarves. We had dwarves in the Enchanted Forest although they definitely weren't like these dwarves. These dwarves were undoubtedly warriors. Ours were miners. I chuckled softly and said, "That I do, Master Dwarf." I took another step and nearly tripped on my gown again. "Damn!" I muttered for the second time that day.

"You alright, lassie?" another dwarf asked, this one mostly bald but with a very thick beard. I nodded. "I am fine. This infernal gown is ridiculous. Perfect for dancing at a ball, absolutely useless for anything else!" They all laughed with me except for one. The one I assumed was the leader, Thorin Oakenshield. His aqua eyes bore into me. I had to admit he was very handsome.

After a moment, he turned away and asked sharply, "What is this beast?" I looked at the foul thing. "That would be an ogre. Let me get rid of it for you. I'm sure you have somewhere to be." I took a breath and summoned my magic. In a cloud of blue smoke, the ogre disappeared. "I've never seen anything like that," one of the dwarves commented. So far I'd counted 13 dwarves, one old gentleman and a creature I could not name. He was small with very big, hairy feet. He wore no shoes. "Lads!" Thorin snapped and the 13 dwarves huddled together.

The dwarves were speaking quietly about something and the small person approached me. "Begging your pardon, miss? What was that you just did?" I looked down at him. He was shorter than I was, but not by much. "What? The magic? Just a simple spell." I smiled and tucked a bit of hair behind my ear. I noticed that Thorin kept looking at me, making me blush. I needed to learn where I was and find my bearings. This company was obviously on some kind of adventure also and I was hoping they could help me find my way. When the dwarves turned back to me, most of them were smiling. Thorin spoke gruffly, "We'd like for you to join our company, if you have no objections. Your skills could prove useful to our cause." I beamed. Not in this new realm for a day and already I've found an adventure!

Thorin's POV

I felt an unfamiliar heat rise in my face when the woman gave me -us- a radiant smile. "I would like that very much. Thank you!" She stooped to grab her pack and walked in the back with the burglar and wizard. I lead the company to a place I believed was safe enough for camp. "Now lass," Bofur began, "I am curious about your story." She laughed, a sound that both fascinated and confused me. How is it possible for this woman to have such an effect on me? "I'll make you a deal. Help me find a secluded area so I can change out of this cumbersome dress and then I will tell you my story. How does that sound?"

After camp was made, I watched as my nephews lead the woman off. I assumed they were holding up their end of the deal. I would not admit it out loud, but I was curious about her too. When they returned to camp, she was dressed in trousers, a white tunic, a corset over her tunic, boots and was armed with a sword. "Alright, lass. After supper, you owe us a story," Dwalin stated. I suppressed a smile. Apparently he was as curious as the rest of us. She nodded and flashed a quick smile. "Get a fire going! Bombur can start supper," I ordered, or rather barked, "Quickly!"

Gandalf, the hobbit and the girl all looked at me curiously. Why had I snapped at my kin? "I can help," Y/N said. I smirked and asked sharply, "How could you?" I earned a smirk back and she retorted, "Let's see. I already removed an ogre from your path. How about starting a fire?" The company was staring at us. I'm certain they were wondering how I would react to the way Y/N was speaking to me. With a flick of her wrist, fire shot from her hand and onto the wood. I hid the fact that I was impressed. Once everyone had gone back to their business, Y/N smiled and gave me a wink. After supper, the company gathered around her as she sat next to the hobbit to tell her story. "Where shall I start?"
