The rest of the day was as busy as usual. Once work was done with, Jack made his way to 'The Sun'.

When he reached the building, Katherine was no where to be seen. 'That's weird.' He thought. So he went inside and asked the receptionist if Katherine was doing some extra work.

"I'm sorry, but Ms. Plummer didn't come into work today. She phoned saying she was sick."

He thanked her and then left. 'Sick? She was fine yesterday. Maybe she didn't go to work cause o' what Joe said. Well, he can't keep her away for long.'

Thoughts continued to race through his head. He wasn't paying attention to where he was going, but he somehow ended up in front of Katherine's home. He didn't know what to do.

His heart told him to burst through the door and run to Katherine, but his head told him to wait till tomorrow to see her.

He stood there for a few minutes, weighing his options. In the end, his head won the argument, and he headed back to the lodge house.

When he got back, the boys begged him to finish the story he started the previous night, but he told them he couldn't. So he went straight up to the rooftop and sat in thought, wondering why he didn't take the chance to see his Ace when he could have.

Eventually, he drifted off into unconsciousness. But his sleep was void of the usual happy and joyful dreams about him and Katherine.
