"Leave me alone! What do you want from me? What have I done? Go away!"Hickorykit muttered, though in his dream, he was screaming at the one-eyed demon.
"Oh what's wrong, Stumpyleg? Having a nightmare?"
He jerked awake to see Rowankit swimming in front of his vision. He let out a grunt and turned over.
"What was it about? You loosing the rest of your legs?"his brother jeered.
"Shut up, Rowankit,"he growled, opening his amber eyes.
"Wrenfoot! Hickorykit told me to shut up!"Rowankit moaned.
"Do not tell your brother to shut up, Hickorykit!"Wrenfoot snarled.
He opened his mouth to object, but, thinking better of it, only muttered, "Unfair,"
"How dare you insult me under your breath?"Rowankit sneered,"Mother!"
Wrenfoot hissed at him,"How could you? No milk for that!"
Hickorykit didn't have any annoyance to supress; he was skinny from the lack of milk he'd got anyway whilst Rowanpaw was plump from having had 99% of Wrenfoot's milk.
"And for that rude silence, no prey today, either!"
He merely nodded, not knowing what else to do.
His mother glowered at him for a few moments, as if looking for what and how to punish. Then, she turned away with a growl.
Rowankit scowled at him,"You're lucky you got away with that, Threefeet,"he murmured.
Hickorykit wanted to attack his brother, but it was no use. His brother was a lot bigger than him, and stronger from the food he got whilst he was small and weak as he barely survived from the lack of it.
Hickorykit sighed wistfully. He closed his eyes as he suppressed a jab of pain in his chest. As it cealed over his insides, he recalled how often he got this sensation. It was random and weird, coming every time with a flash of-
Ah, there it was. The familiar feeling of fear and anger. He was angry at Rowanpaw, Wrenfoot, Eagleface and all of his older sisters. And the whole of RiverClan. No-one liked him. They'd pass him off in favour of his snobby, spoiled older brother. As for the fear, he had no idea. He wondered if all normal kits got these feelings. But I'm not a normal kit.
Hickorykit glanced up. Rowankit was still glaring at him. Normally it just irritated him, but for some reason he felt uneasy under his unweavering glower.
Hickorykit shrugged uneasily and padded around the den. He was never allowed outside of the nursery, especially not at dusk. He'd never tasted fresh air or felt the sun on his face before. He'd never seen a cat who wasn't Acorncloud, Amberstar, the kits, the queens and the fathers in the two moons he'd been alive. He clenched his fangs in frustraistion. Wait was wrong with these cats? All that was different about him was a leg! Hickorykit could still walk. He limped but so? He tore at the moss nest, growling.
"Wrenfoot!"Rowankit called.
Wrenfoot was there in an instant, "Yes, my dear?"
"Hickorykit's shredding my nest up!"
"How dare he?"she whipped her head around to face him. He felt her eyes but didn't look up. He couldn't be punished more than being born.
"Stop that, Hickorykit!"Wrenfoot yelled. He ignored her.
"Do not ignore your mother!"
Hickorykit looked up angriliy,"What are you gonna do?"
Wrenfoot still looked taked aback as she snarled,"Rowankit. Get him,"
Rowankit smiled smuggly, then charged. Hickorykit braced himself feebly, but before they made contact, the sensation of pain, terror and fury came back. He staggered, overwhelmed by the powerful force of emotion. As he stared at Rowankit with wide, fearfully eyes. Then his chest heaved and there was a black shine in front of him. It was the demon that had been haunting Hickorykit for two moons. His was male with one bright red eye. The other one had been scratched out seasons ago, and there was only two scars of vibrant red to show where it had been. He had three scars on his chest. He jerked, ready to gasp a warning to Rowankit. But they'd already clashed. Rowankit seemed even more shocked than he was as he was attacked by thin air. Wrenfoot watched in confusion until she saw Rowanpaw get scratched.
"Hickorykit!"she screamed,"Stop it! Stop hurting your bother!"
Oh. Well you shouldn't have sent him to hurt his 'brother' if you weren't prepared to see him injured. Hickorykit thought with a satisfied grin. He might not know what was happening, but he was enjoying Rowankit screeching in agony as the life was clawed out of him. His blood was flying everywhere. He had to close his eyes to stop it flying in them and clamp his jaws shut so it wouldn't get in his mouth.
Finally, when Rowankit looked like he'd been the only cat in a battle against the whole of ShadowClan, the ghost stopped. It turned around and stared into Hickorykit's eyes. It felt cold, painful and scary. It was the feeling he always felt in his chest. It was like that piercing red eye was looking right through him, but from the inside.
Somehow, he could read it's ghoul-ish expression. Hickorykit saw it say "We need him to live" and then it vanished.

The end of Chapter One! Ta-da! I HATE YOU ROWANKITTTTT!
