The next day on the island every fighter had gone down to the dining hall for breakfast. Tina had a small headache from last night; she sensed someone under the island who was having a bad dream, but she couldn't tell where. Tina was waiting in line for breakfast when she spotted the ninja in the front of the line talking about Chen's plan and what he was using the elemental powers for. Kai figured that it must be so Chen can destroy New Ninjago City since the place always had a streak of bad luck with evil villains. Cole figured that Chen had to be planning something more sinister. Jay, who was in a bathrobe and a night mask, reminded them that they still haven't found Zane and they needed to take care of their first round.

Cole looked at Jay's attire with shock, Jay told him that he had already moved on and Cole reminded him that his opponent got himself kicked out. Jay just laughed it off and stated that it was his day off then he piled his plate with extra creamy biscuits. Tina could sense a grudge between Cole and Jay; they needed to clear it up fast or Chen would take advantage of it. Tina finally grabbed her breakfast and she started to walk to a table to eat alone. She saw Cole and Jay bickering like little kids and bumping each other with their trays of food. She used her magic to separate the two before they made a mess. She then smiled and waved at Lloyd who smiled back at her.

Kai glared at her to leave but she just shook off his glares and walked towards the ninja. "You two need to learn to make peace, or neither of you will move on." Tina reasoned.

"We didn't ask for your help." Kai snapped.

Tina just rolled her eyes and walked away; she knew Kai didn't like her because of last night. Lloyd caught up to Tina and apologized for Kai's behavior. Tina told him that she was used to that behavior from some of her ex-foster parents. Chen started to talk on the speakers to announce the continuation of the tournament. He started to list off the fighters that will be fighting in the tournament today, speed, gravity, mind, nature, smoke, and fire. After breakfast, everyone gathered for the first fight outside with Neuro, the master of mind versus Bolobo, master of nature. A jade blade was placed on the top of a large rock in front of them. The match began, Neuro used his power to see what Bobolo had up his sleeve and used it to his advantage.

The match went on for a while until Neuro managed to grab the jade blade and won. Chen pressed the trap door button on his chair to open the trapdoor under Bobolo to eliminate him. The next match was at a cherry blossom tree where a jade blade was placed at the top. The match was between Turner, master of speed and Gravis, master of gravity. The match began with Turner speeding up the tree as Gravis just levitated himself through the branches. Turner was practically toying with Gravis which got him pelted with cherry blossoms. Gravis used his powers to bring the blade to him, but Turner caught it and won. Chen opened the trap door, but Gravis thought he was safe since he was still floating. Chen pressed another button which dropped a sandbag on Gravis, and he fell through the trapdoor.

The final match was at the volcano with a bridge where the jade blade was centered in the middle. The match was Kai, master of fire versus Ash, master of smoke. Tha match was intense; Ash shook the bridge hard enough for Kai to grab onto the rope railing, but the jade blade fell off and landed on a rock pillar. The two fought so much that they started to destroy the bridge. Kai ended up winning the match and Ash was eliminated, Tina didn't even feel any sympathy for the master of smoke after the way he treated her. Chen gave everyone a break until the next fight for tonight. Everyone mostly left for the dining hall, but Tina didn't really like crowds, so she left for her suite.

On her way to her suite, she bumped into Lloyd who was walking to his room. "Spying on me, green ninja?" Tina teased.

"I just came to apologize about Kai. He's usually not like that." Lloyd stated.

"I told you; I'm used to that kind of attitude. But I'm glad to see you again." Tina said.

Tina and Lloyd started talking again, Tina swore she could feel butterflies when her eyes met Lloyd's. But she shook it off thinking it was just nerves. Suddenly, they heard some kind of commotion from the main room, when they came into the room, they saw everyone gathered at the scoreboard. The second Lloyd and Tina saw the brackets they gasped; Chen had switched the brackets so now Cole and Jay had to fight each other for tonight's fight. Tina saw Clouse struggling to hide a smirk in the corner. She wanted to curse the chump, but she controlled her temper; she didn't want to get eliminated and have Chen steal her powers. Just then, Sensei Garmadon, Kai, Cole, and Jay entered the room and they saw the bracket change.

"Ah, but why does it say I have to fight Cole? It didn't say that before. I'm not ready to fight. It was supposed to be my day off." Jay complained.

"I tried to warn you, but you never listen. Talk? Yes. Listen? Not so much." Cole stated.

They still had some time to find Zane and figure out what Chen was planning which might stop the fight from happening. Tina offered to help but Kai told her that they had things under control. She shook her head and started to walk away but she was going to help the ninja whether they wanted her help or not. She waited until everyone started to head to the arena, then she went to talk to Neuro. He read her mind about how she wanted to ask him if he can get close enough to Chen and read his mind to find out what he was up to and find the ninja's missing friend. Neuro wasn't willing to help since he wanted to get them out of the competition. Tina told him to look in her head and see what Chen's tournament was really about.

Neuro saw Tina's memory of seeing Chen stealing Karloff's powers with his staff. "It's only a matter of time before Chen steals your power too. So, are you in?" Tina asked.

Neuro agreed to help the ninja; unfortunately, Clouse caught him sneaking around so Neuro made up a quick lie then left. The match between Cole and Jay was about to begin; both of them were on edge ready to fight one another. Neuro came to Kai to tell him that he tried to get into Chen's mind but had no luck, however he got a quick peek into Clouse's mind and saw that the powers Chen was collecting was for a spell. He didn't know what spell but all he saw was the page number, 149 in Clouse's spell book. Kai was surprised that Neuro had helped them. Lloyd was with Cole trying to convince him to try and make peace with Jay.

The match was about to begin; well, it started when Jay and Cole ran towards each other before Chen could even speak. Chen was laughing and giggling like a child watching Jay and Cole fight, he even had Clouse fetch him popcorn. Cole had Jay pinned but then he remembered that Jay wasn't his enemy, Chen is. Jay thought Cole was tricking him, but he wasn't, he never meant to hurt jay in the first place. Jay confessed that he was more upset about losing Nia, but he took the blame for that. He was more upset about losing Cole as a friend. Jay and Cole had made peace and made up; they figured that Chen could try to call their fight a tie by barely fighting.

Chen immediately got bored then he had his men release motorbikes called the Condrai Crushers into the arena. But that only made Jay and Cole fight together and they stopped all of the Crushers. Everyone cheered but Chen got super annoyed. "Enough! I know what you are trying to do. If neither of you will win, then both of you will lose!" Chen shouted.

Chen furiously started pressing buttons on his chair to open multiple trap doors trying to eliminate both Cole and Jay. Tina secretly used a spell to mess with the buttons so every time Chen pushed a button, some of the trap doors would open beneath some of his guards and they would fall through. Cole grabbed the jade blade but at the last second, he tossed it to Jay making him the winner. Cole's final words to Jay was that he should have bowed out a long time ago and told Jay to win this before falling in a trap door. After the match when everyone left, Tina felt a little dizzy and sat down to get her energy back. She forgot that the stronger the spell, the more energy she would use up.

Tina had a little bit of energy to walk to her room, but she stumbled over her own feet because of her dizziness. She would have fallen flat on her face if Lloyd hadn't caught her. Lloyd told Tina that she could spend the night in his room just until she recovered. He gave Tina some tea to help with her dizziness, she explained that if she overused her powers, it drains her energy and makes her feel weak. Lloyd made sure that Tina was comfortable, and he asked how she was low on energy. Tina confessed that she messed with Chen's chair to try and help Cole and Jay. She also confessed that she asked Neuro to help back trying to see into Chen's mind.

"I'm glad you did. But why didn't you just tell me what you were planning?" Lloyd asked.

"Because Kai hates me. I know I said I was used to that kind of behavior but sometimes it would get worse to the point where I would be portrayed as the bad guy. You and your team were a big inspiration for me to keep fighting and be brave. I get that I'm not a ninja, but I want to help." Tina said, sadly.

Lloyd pulled out the charm that Tina gave him the other night then he put it around his neck. He told Tina that since she helped him and his team find more information about what Chen was planning, he was going to train Tina a few moves to help her in the tournament. The two snuck up to the roof top where none of the guards would notice. Lloyd and Tina trained for a bit then Tina did Spinjitzu for the first time, but she lost control and ended up crashing on top of Lloyd. Both of them had a flush on their faces before pulling away from each other. "You're a quick student." Lloyd commented.

Tina smiled as she rubbed the back of her head "I'm a fast learner. But I never had anyone to teach me. I always just learn on the go." Tina stated.

Little did they know, Jay, Kai, and Sensei Garmadon were watching them. Kai still thought Tina was just playing them to win the so-called tournament. Jay didn't seem to think so, if anything he thought it was because Lloyd had a crush on Tina. "That can't be right." Kai claimed.

"Um, hello? The meetings, Lloyd training her, the fact that he seems to make her feel safe. It's all there! Besides, I saw Lloyd looking at Tina with dreamy eyes this morning. He's got it bad." Jay answered.
