The next day Nova went to the station with her brother and dad, Scott had joined them as well. They were now standing in Noah's office as he looked at himself in a small mirror he had.

"Oh, I should've got a haircut." He muttered.

"Well, you know someone your age should be happy you still have hair to cut." Stiles quipped, gesturing to his dad's hair and winced when his sister elbowed him roughly in the side. Nova sent him a small glare and Stiles just shrugged in response with a sheepish look. She rolled her eyes at her brother and turned her attention back to her father.

"I think you look great." Scott chimed in, sending Noah a smile.

Noah looks relieved and returns the smile. "Well, thank you, son I should have had." Stiles sent him an offensive look while Nova snickered beside him.

"Oh, what the h**l am I doing?" Noah sighs heavily, loosening his collar anxiously. "This is a terrible idea."

"No, it's not. Dad, you're gonna be fine." Nova reassures him, walking over to him to fix his collar. "Just take a few deep breaths, you can do this." She smiles, patting his shoulder. "I know this is hard, but you can do it, dad."

Noah nods, taking a few deep breaths. "Thank you." He smiles, wrapping his arm around his daughter's shoulders and hugs her close to him. She smiles softly and returns the hug, closing her eyes and resting her head on his chest. She's happy that he's finally going on a date. She had been surprised when she first found out, he hadn't been on a date in a long time. Not since her mom had passed. So it was a big step for him.

"Yeah, dad." Stiles agrees, smiling at him while his sister and their dad pulled away from the hug. "It's one date, okay? The town of Beacon Hills won't implode while you're out with one woman. Or man." He added with raised eyebrows.

Noah sends him a look. "It's a woman, Stiles."

"Okay." Stiles nodded.

"A very beautiful woman." Noah continued, a soft smile on his lips as he thought about her. Nova smiled a little at seeing this.

"What beautiful woman, by the way?" Stiles asked curiously. Nova had to admit she wanted to know who their dad was going on a date with as well. Their dad hadn't told them really anything besides the fact he was going on a date with a beautiful woman.

"None of your business." Noah glances at Nova and Scott, noticing Nova was about to say something. He points at her and Scott. "Either of you."

Nova pouts. "Dang it." She was even more curious now to know who this woman was her dad was going on a date with.

"I want to know." Stiles whined, looking between his dad and sister.

"Stilinski!"

A loud voice suddenly sounded through the station and all four of them turn to look to see a teenage boy being held back by two deputies. Donovan. Nova recognized him from school, she didn't know much about him, she just knew he got into trouble a lot. She couldn't help but flinch at the sudden shouting.

"I'm gonna kill you!" Donovan threatened, staring at Noah with pure hatred in his eyes. His voice was filled with rage and his gaze was filled with nothing but a murderous look.

"Donavan, if you think that shocks me, remember it was well-documented in your Anger Expression Inventory. Deputies, escort the prisoner out." Noah ordered, his gaze never wavering.

"I'm not angry like I'm gonna throw a brick through your window. I'm angry like I'm gonna find you, I'm going to get a knife, and I'm going to stab you with it until you're dead. And when you look at me and you ask me why, remember right now. Because this is why." Donovan hissed out, continuing to glare at Noah.

Nova felt her stomach drop at his threat, her heart pounding hard in her chest. A low growl had left her lips at hearing this boy threaten to kill her dad. her hands formed into fists and her nails digging into her skin, breaking the skin. The smell of blood reached her nose, but she ignored it. It didn't matter, the cuts will heal. She just kept her eyes on Donovan as he was dragged out of the building.

She didn't tear her gaze away until she couldn't see him anymore, her eyes narrowed in anger and her lips formed into a tight line. She was worried and scared for her dad's safety. She didn't like this at all. If anyone was going to kill her dad, they would have to go through her first. She wouldn't let anything happen to her family. She felt someone grab her shoulder and she tensed up. She relaxed when she looked over and saw it was only Scott. He gives her a concerned look, his eyes flickering over her shoulder.

"Your hands." He whispered, glancing back at her with concern in his eyes.

She followed his gaze and blinked. She had forgotten about her hands, she had forgotten she was digging her nails into her palms. Her nails had broken the skin and there were small cuts in her palms. She winced a little as she opened her palms. Blood had already dried on her palms, but there were still a few drops of blood coming out of the cuts. The cuts were healing already, but they weren't fully healed yet. She would have to wait a few minutes before the cuts healed completely.

"Are you okay?" Scott asked, keeping his voice down so only Nova heard him.

She glances at him and nods. "I'm fine." She reassures him, speaking in a quiet tone as well. "Don't worry, the cuts will heal."

"We're talking about this later." He murmured, squeezing her shoulder gently. She knew what he meant. She had just recently started to use pain as an anchor to keep her guarded, she hadn't done that before, not even when she was first a werewolf. She hadn't found it necessary before, but now she was using it. Scott wasn't entirely sure why, he was worried though. He knows pain can be an anchor, but he was confused and curious about why all of a sudden she was doing this now. Or maybe she had been doing it all along and he just noticed now. Either way, he was going to talk to her about it. He wanted to make sure she was alright.

She simply nodded in response, understanding what he was referring to. She would tell him what was going on later. Right now, she was focused on the fact that some teenager had threatened to kill her dad. "Wow, that was awesome." Nova's anger is replaced by confusion at Stiles comment. How was what Donavan just said awesome? "That was awesome. That was great. We do one more? Give us another one, maybe like Christopher Walken this time, you know." After Donovan sent him a glare, Stiles takes a step back with a raised hand. "Okay, you know what? It's fine. You'll have plenty of time to work on it when you're in your tiny, little cell, you know. Just stuck there, forever."

"Stiles," Nova warns, giving her brother a look. "Don't." She knew sometimes her brother could push people's buttons, sometimes to their limits. And it was clear that Donovan was at his limit.

Donovan scoffs, shaking his head. He makes it look like he was going to follow the two deputies, but then he goes to lunge at the group. Nova and Scott didn't hesitate to both take a step forward to stand in front of her dad and Stiles, but before they could her dad stopped them and called out for the deputies to get Donovan out of there. Nova's heart raced as she watched Donovan being dragged out, his hate-filled eyes were still locked on her father. But before he had left the station completely, his gaze fell on her. She couldn't help but shudder a little under his gaze. There was something about it, a look in his eyes, that made her nervous. Her body tensed as he was finally taken out of the building and she finally let herself relax a little.

She jumped a little when she felt someone grab her shoulder, her head quickly snapped to the side. Her gaze softens when she realizes it was just her brother, who had stared at her with concern, and she could see he was silently asking if she was okay. She sent him a reassuring smile and nodded. Her heart was still beating fast and her anger was slowly fading, but she would be fine.

"What the h**l's an Anger Expression Inventory?" Scott asked, looking confused.

"It's a test you take when you're applying to become a deputy." Stiles answered, causing Nova to share a surprised look with Scott.

"That guy wanted to be a cop?" Scott questioned.

"At least now he's getting the full law enforcement experience." Stiles shrugged. Nova just sighed and shook her head at her brother's comment. She looked back at the door of the station where Donavan had just left through. She didn't like the look he gave her before leaving. There was something about it that unnerved her. She just didn't like it, the whole situation was bad. She was going to have to keep an eye out on him and keep her dad and brother safe. She wasn't going to let anyone hurt her family.

****

Nova was now sitting in the back of Stiles' jeep, waiting for her brother to get the jeep working again. It stopped working once again which wasn't much of a surprise to her. The jeep was old and there was a lot of duct tape holding it together. She knows her brother didn't want to get rid of this car because their mom had gave it to him, but she did think maybe he should get one. She understood the sentimental value of it and knew that this was important to him. But she also thought it would be nice for him to have one where it didn't break down all the time and you didn't need duct tape to fix things.

"It's anxiety." Stiles suddenly said. Nova blinked at her brother's words, snapping out of her thoughts and turning her attention to him. She was confused about what he was referring to, she had been thinking about other things.

"What is?" Scott asked, furrowing his eyebrows as he looked at Stiles.

"The chemo signals? Oh, I'm well aware of how you all monitor my emotional state." Stiles grumbles, glancing at his sister in the rearview mirror. "Yeah, even you, Novi."

Nova gives him a sheepish look. "Sorry." She apologized, shrugging her shoulders. She wasn't going to stop checking on him, he's her brother. She was always worried about him, especially since he got possessed by a dark kitsune. She wasn't going to take a chance, she wanted to make sure he was okay. She couldn't lose him, she would never forgive herself if she lost her brother.

Stiles tries turning his jeep again, hitting the steering wheel angrily when it wouldn't work. Nova frowns at this, her eyes full of concern. She knew Scott was concerned for him as well because he then asks, "You okay?"

"Alright, I got this from Braeden a few hours ago." Stiles finally admits, pulling his phone out. He shows his phone to Nova and Scott, Nova scoots to the front of the middle seat, leaning over to get a closer look. "That's the first real bit of information we've gotten on the Desert Wolf in months."

"The Desert Wolf did this?" Scott questioned, surprised lacing his tone and Nova stared at the picture of dead men in what looked like a warehouse with surprise. Chairs and tables were broken and there was blood splattered on the wall. Nova was surprised by the destruction that had happened.

"Yeah, and I'm the one who's been pulling this thread." Stiles sighed.

"Maybe you should stop." Scott suggested.

"No, it's not up to me." Stiles replied and he turned the jeep on again. Finally the jeep turned on and they could leave the station. Nova sighed with relief when the jeep finally started working again, happy they wouldn't be stuck here anymore. It was annoying when the jeep broke down, but she knew it couldn't be helped. It was just the way it was.

****

Nova followed her brother and Scott over to where a part of the road was blocked off. Police cars were there, Lydia, Malia, and Kira were there as well. The girls had been trying to help Malia with driving when they found the van that had Donovan in it was tipped over and Donovan had escaped. They pause when someone on a stretcher was rolled past them.

"Guys," Noah calls out to his two kids and Scott and they walk over to him. "Scott, you saw this kid, Donovan. He...He wasn't like you and Nova, right?"

"I don't think so." Scott admitted, glancing at Nova to see if she thought the same. She shook her head in agreement with Scott, she didn't think he was a supernatural creature.

"Yeah, he seemed like he was human." Nova agreed.

"Unless he knows how to hide his scent." Stiles suggested.

"Well, human or otherwise, this kid might just have murdered his lawyer and mortally wounded two officers. We got an APB out on him, but you think you can find him faster?" Noah questioned, glancing at Scott.

"I can try." Scott nodded, giving the man a determined look.

"And I can help." Nova offered, knowing she could help track Donovan down.

Noah hesitates, frowning a little as he looked at his daughter. He didn't like the idea of her being in danger, but he knew that Scott and her could probably track Donovan faster than the police could. But he didn't want her to be in danger so he glances at Scott and says, "Keep her safe."

"Always." Scott agreed without hesitation.

Nova sighed a little, but she didn't say anything. She understood that her dad was worried about her safety, but she could handle herself. She was a werewolf and she was strong. She wasn't a little kid anymore, she can take care of herself. But she did appreciate her dad worrying about her. It was nice, but it was also annoying sometimes.

"Alright, keep it on channel two." Noah told Scott, handing him a walkie talkie.

"Okay, Nova, let's go." Scott glanced at the young teen by him. After she nodded in response, tey took off running. Nova easily kept up with him and together they began to look for Donovan.

****

Scott and Nova had caught Donovan's scent and had followed it to an abandoned building. They were walking through it, following his scent. "He has to be in here, right?" Nova muttered, glancing around the place. It was eerily silent, the only sound that could be heard was the sound of their footsteps and their breathing.

"Definitely." Scott agreed.

They continue walking through the place, searching for Donovan. Nova knew he was close by, she could smell him, but he smelt scared which confused her. Suddenly, there was a yell and someone lunged at her. She had been standing in front of Scott, but before she could use her strength to throw the person to the side, Scott beat her to it. She was pushed to the side and Scott pushed the person to the ground. When Nova saw it was Donovan who had lunged at them and she glared, wanting to do nothing more than rip his throat out. But she paused when she noticed the blood and she was surprised to see him looking terrified. She noticed he even had blood on the side of his face.

"Scott, is that you?" Parrish suddenly asked when Scott turned the walkie talkie on. Nova almost forgot that they had a walkie talkie with them, his voice had startled her and made her jump a bit.

"Yeah, Nova and I found Donovan." Scott replies, staring at Donovan with furrowed eyebrows while the boy kept repeating a name over and over again with a scared look in his eyes. Nova stares at the boy with furrowed eyebrows, wondering what had happened to him. "He's completely freaked out. He keeps saying some name."

"What name?" Noah chimed in.

"Tracy. He keeps saying Tracy." Scott responded. Nova didn't understand why he was saying this name over and over again, it didn't make sense. She didn't even know who Tracy was. It was silent from the other end for a few moments before her dad's voice came through the walkie talkie once more.

"Tracy who?" Noah inquired.

****

Later that night, Nova was in her room, getting ready for bed. The cuts on her hands had healed completely and were gone. There wasn't even a scar. Her hair was damp from the shower she took and she was wearing a tank top and plaid pajama pants. She had a towel wrapped around her head to help dry her hair a little more. She paused after she stepped out of her bathroom when she sensed someone else was in her room.

"Scott." She mumbled, noticing the teenage boy sitting on her bed.

"Hey." Scott greeted her, smiling a little. He had waited for her to come into her room so they could talk. He was glad that they were alone now, he wanted to talk to her about what happened at the police station.

Nova smiles a little and walks over to her bed, taking a seat next to him. She takes her towel off her head and shakes her hair out, trying to dry her hair a little more. "Is something wrong?" She asked, glancing at him with concern in her eyes.

"No, but I did want to talk." Scott answers, frowning a little as he stared at her. "About what happened earlier, at the police station. You know, when you dug your nails into your palms and made yourself bleed."

"Oh, yeah." Nova mutters, nodding in understanding. "It's just something I've been doing recently." She admitted.

"I get that." Scott nods in agreement, he had guessed that. "I'm just concerned, is all."

"Why?" Nova questions, looking confused. "I'm fine."

"I know, I know." Scott agrees, giving her a reassuring smile. "But I'm still worried, you know."

"I know." Nova sighs, knowing that he would worry no matter what. She was his beta after all, she knew he would always worry about her, no matter what. It was something that would probably never change.

"Have you always used pain as an anchor? Or is this new?" Scott wondered.

"New." Nova responds, sighing a little. "It's something I've been trying recently. It helps keep me grounded, you know. It keeps me in control and makes sure that I don't lose control."

"I get it." Scott nods in understanding. He had a feeling she was doing that, it had only been a guess, but it was nice to get confirmation that he was right. "But I thought you had found out Liam was your anchor?" Her face flushes at that question, remembering how she had told Scott that. "Is he not your anchor anymore?"

"No, he's still my anchor." Nova admits, her face still red. "I just...It's just...He's..." She groaned, struggling to explain as her heart raced. She wasn't good with words, especially when she was talking about something like this. She was nervous about admitting this, but she trusted Scott.

"So he is still your anchor." Scott concludes, smiling a little when she nods in confirmation. "Then why are you using pain as an anchor?"

"Because it helps." Nova shrugs, frowning a little as she explained. "I mean, I can always have a pain as an anchor. Just in case something happens and having Liam as an anchor doesn't help." She had just wanted to have a back up plan, something that would help keep her grounded and in control if anything happened to Liam. It was just an idea that popped into her head and she decided to try it out.

"I understand." Scott nods. "Just be careful, okay?"

"I will." Nova promised, smiling a little at him.

Scott smiled back at her, happy she was alright. He was a little concerned about her using pain as an anchor, but as long as she was being careful he knew she would be okay. He wraps his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close, kissing the top of her head. She leaned into him, smiling a little.

"Thank you." Nova mumbled, grateful he had been here. He was always here for her and she couldn't be more thankful to have someone like him in her life.

"Of course." Scott responds, giving her a small squeeze. He would always be there for her and he knew she would always be there for him as well. "Let me know if you need anything else."

"Will do." Nova agreed, smiling a little at him. She knew she could count on him to help her, he always helped her when she needed him and she appreciated it. He had always been like an older brother figure to her and she was glad to have him in her life.

****

"Tracy wasn't just having trouble sleeping. It was a real disorder. It was night terrors." Lydia explains the next day at school. The gang was standing near where the busses were at, mainly standing near Stiles' jeep and talking about what happened last night. They had found out out Donovan had been speaking about Tracy Stewart. Nova stood by Liam, holding onto the straps of her backpack. She and Liam stood close enough to each other their shoulders were touching, but neither one seemed to mind it.

"Well, now she's the night terror." Stiles remarks. "Especially since no one can find her."

"Okay, I know we're all tired and miserable..." Scott's voice trails off, glancing at Mason, beside him, who just looked happy to be there. "Expect for you." Nova chuckled a little, smiling a bit. She thought this was a bit amusing.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Mason apologizes with a grimace. "This is all just mind-blowing." He smiles at Kira. "You're a kitsune. I don't even know what that is."

"I'm still learning." Kira confessed.

"Liam, we said you could tell him. Not invite him to the inner circle." Stiles complained.

"Uh, I'm in the inner circle?" Mason asked excitedly, his eyes lighting up.

"No." Both Stiles and Liam replied.

"No, you're not." Nova agreed, shaking her head and sending Mason an apologetic look.

"Guys, look, back to Tracy. She's just one lone wolf. We can find her." Scott said, wanting to stay on topic.

"One lone serial-killing wolf." Malia commented.

"Uh, she only killed one person, you know." Stiles pointed out. "The other two were mauled. Alright, what do we do when we catch her?"

"I say we put her down." Malia suggested and everyone shared a look, all agreeing not to do that.

"Intense." Mason mumbled, his eyes widening slightly.

"Guys, let's concentrate on catching her first. We'll figure out the rest later." Scott reassured everyone.

****

In History class, Nova and Liam realized Tracy was there. She was sitting in the back row and she had no shoes on. Liam had pulled the fire alarm to get everyone out and he managed to get Scott's attention as well after he said an excuse to get out of class. Now everyone was leaving the school since the fire alarm was pulled, but Nova, Liam, and Scott were in the History classroom with Tom, Kira's dad. Hayden was still in the classroom, asking Tracy if she was okay.

Tracy was breathing heavily, not saying anything. Then out of nowhere she grabbed Hayden's arm, her claws extended which caused Hayden to gasp. Scott started to walk forward slowly, hoping to get Tracy to stop. Nova, Liam, and Mr. Yukimura followed him, but Liam had kept a protective arm slightly in front of Nova even though he knew she could take care of herself. He couldn't help it, he just had this protective instinct when it came to her.

"Tracy." When Tracy stayed silent and still kept a tight grip on Hayden's arm, Scott tries again. "Tracy."

Once again nothing from Tracy, but she did stand up. "Tracy." Scott repeats. Nova watches worriedly as Tracy still held on Hayden's arm that was now bleeding. "Tracy, let go. Let her go." Scott spoke while Tracy started to sway a bit.

"Hey, you're hurting me." Hayden shakily said with a grimace.

"Tracy, let her go." Scott told the brunette. He and the others had slowly made their way more into the room over to Tracy, but they still kept their distance.

"They're coming." Tracy finally says, letting go of Hayden's arm. "They're coming for all of us." She then fainted and a strange silver substance fell out of her mouth. Scott carried her down the hallway with Tom's help just as Stiles and Malia ran around the corner. They opened the door and helped them outside with Tracy.

"She wasn't even supposed to be in our class." Hayden admits. "Where are they taking her?"

Nova shares a hesitant look with Liam. They couldn't tell Hayden the truth. The truth was they were taking Tracy to Deaton for him to check her out and to see if he knew what happened with her. So they both knew they had to lie. "The hospital, I guess." Liam shrugs and then his gaze fell to Hayden's bleeding arm. "Do you need help to the nurse's office?"

"I think I'll make it." Hayden replied, sending him a small glare.

"I can go with you, if you want." Nova offered with a small smile, knowing Hayden liked her more than Liam.

Hayden's gaze softens as she looks at Nova. "Thank you, Nova, but really, I'll be fine." Nova nodded with a small smile and watched as she walked down the hallway.

"How come she likes you more than me?" Liam questioned with a frown.

"I'm not the one who punched her when we were kids." Nova reminded him with a chuckle.

"Okay, in my defense, it was an accident." Liam admitted.

"Yeah, whatever, come on we gotta go tell Lydia and Kira about what happened." Nova gestured for him to follow her and they walk down the hallway to find the two girls.

"They're taking her to the Animal Clinic?" Kira questioned. Nova was surprised she guessed correctly, but then she assumed Scott had probably texted her what was gong on.

"Yeah, to see if Deaton can figure out what's wrong with her." Liam answered.

"What's wrong with her is that she killed two people. Her father and, according to Parrish, her psychiatrist." Lydia spoke quietly so only they could hear and none of the students walking by could hear.

"Isn't there anyone else we can talk to? Doesn't she still have her mom? Any family?" Kira inquired.

"Alpha." Lydia speaks up after a moment of silence. "If she's a werewolf, she has an alpha, right? Anyone know if a new one's moved into Beacon Hills?"

"No, but there's an old one." Kira replies. "One of the oldest. We know her." She glanced at Liam and Nova, since they knew who she was talking about. Nova nodded in agreement while Liam looked annoyed.

"And her pack." Liam muttered.

****

Nova stood by Liam and Mason as they walked to the field where they saw Brett practicing lacrosse. He had transferred to Beacon Hills recently and she had no idea why. Brett didn't have a shirt on and Nova had to admit he looked really good. He was tall, muscular, and handsome. It was hard to take her eyes off him.

"So, he's a werewolf too?" Mason asked curiously.

Liam crosses his arms, still looking annoyed. "Yep."

Mason grins. "This just gets better and better."

After Brett was done, the trio met up with him and Liam asked if he knew who Tracy was, showing him Tracy's school picture.

"Cute," Brett comments. "But never seen her."

"Could Satomi have turned her without you knowing?" Liam asked.

"After the dead pool, Satomi's not exactly doing much recruiting." Brett answered.

"That's how it works?" Mason asks curiously. "Alpha werewolves just go around biting people?"

"Yeah, basically." Nova nodded.

"Or you can be born like me and my sister." Brett added.

"Yeah, that too." Nova agreed.

"Satomi took us in after our family died in a fire." Brett explained after seeing a confused loko on Mason's face.

"Guys," Nova glances at Liam when he spoke up. She noticed he had been looking at the picture on his phone and even zoomed in on it. "I think I just found something."

****

Liam had noticed the necklace Tracy was wearing in the picture and he admitted he had seen it when he had fell in a hole at the preserve. So now Nova is walking with the boys in the forest to try and find the hole to see if the necklace is still there.

"Sure you know where you're going?" Brett questioned, raising his eyebrows at Liam.

Nova knew that Liam was annoyed by the tone of his voice. "I know where I am." Liam replied.

"So do I. Middle of nowhere." Brett retorted.

"He has a point." Nova chimes in, shrugging when Liam sent her a small glare. "What? He does. We're in the middle of nowhere. We're nowhere close to that bridge."

Suddenly a loud thud and a scream from Mason can be heard, causing her to stop along with Brett and Liam. She shares a look with them and they turn around to find Mason had fell in a hole. "Guys?" Mason called out.

They walk over to the hole Mason fell in. Mason rubs his head with a grimace. "I think I found it."

"See the necklace?" Liam inquired.

Mason uses his phone flashlight to look around for the necklace, but after a few moments he replies with, "No, I don't see it."

Brett leans down and helps Mason up. "Liam, I...I thought you said this was a sinkhole." Mason stammered, bending down to get a look at the hole.

Liam shrugs. "It's a hole, what's the difference?" He knelt down by Mason along with Nova and Brett.

"I mean, look a all these handprints and look at all this dirt." Mason pointed out.

"She didn't fall in here." Brett realized.

Nova's eyes widen as she realized what he meant. "She was buried." Liam spoke as he nodded.

"Intense." Mason mumbled, a surprised look appearing on his face.

Liam had decided got down in the hole to check for himself, using his phone flashlight. He didn't have any luck either. "Why isn't it in here?"

"She probably came back for it." Brett suggested.

Liam jumps out and sighs. "I don't think this is the one."

"What do you mean?" Mason asked him.

"Like Nova said, we're nowhere close to the bridge. It was closer to the bridge, much closer. This is a different hole." Liam spoke.

"Then who crawled out of this one?" Mason questioned.

"Not sure if I wanna know the answer to that." Nova murmured.
