Third Person POV

Y/N was in his ship as Ana and Savannah treat the injured Savannah as Y/N piloted the ship. It's been a few hours since the team of guardians left Beacon. Heading back home. To the Last City, where many other guardians like them are. 

Y/N continued to sit at the front as Aria placed her hand on his shoulder. 

Aria: Hey. You okay? 
She asked her teammate with a hint of worry in her voice. 

Y/N: Yeah. I'm fine. 
He answered. 

Aria: I can take my turn now. 
She said. 

Y/N: No. I'm fine. I can pilot. 

Aria: But Y/N. 

Y/N: I said I'm fine. 
He interrupted her. 

Aria: Okay. 
She said before heading to the back of the ship and saw Ana standing in front of the unconscious Savannah. 

Ana: How is he? 

Aria: He's being hard on himself. 
She answered. 

Ana: I see. 

Aria's POV 

I looked at Savannah and saw a slash across her abdomen. 

"Y/N thinks its his fault for Savannah's condition." 

Ana: Well he is team leader. But he can't blame himself for everything that happens on the field. 

"I know. I just worry about him." 

Ana: I do too. But he just needs some time for himself. 

"I guess so." 
I said as I walked into the back part of the ship and entered a small room with a small chair. I sat on the chair as I thought of him. Y/n. 

Y/n's POV 

I couldn't get my mind off of her. Savannah. What she did. Was dumb. 

"Why me?"

"Why do I have to be the one still alive?" 

"Why do I have to be the one that is saved?" 

"Me. I'm a team leader that watched his closest friends and teammates die." 
I said as I clenched my fists, remembering the mission. 

Flashback 

Third Person POV 

Y/N was running as his helmet had a tear in his right side. 

Y/N: Where are you! 
He yelled as if he was looking for something. 

???: Y/N! 
He heard a scream. 

Hearing this, Y/N ran down the hallway as he heard multiple screams. As he ran multiple thralls came out of the dark attempting to surround him. One lunged at Y/N but he grabbed it by the throat and shoved a grenade into its mouth. Y/N proceeds to slam it into the ground and continued running. 

BOOM 

Y/N continues running as the screams got louder and louder. Y/N comes into a room that was covered in purple crystal as a hive knight held one of his teammates by the throat. 

Y/N: Melissa! 
He yelled. 

Melissa: Y-Y/N. 
She weakly said as the knight turned to look at him. 

The knight looked to the side and nodded. Seeing this Y/N turned to his side and he was whacked across the room and crashed into the ground 

Melissa: No! 
She yelled as she saw Y/N on the ground. 

Y/N slowly got up as he was stunned from the surprise attack.

Y/N: W-What the fuck. 
He groaned as he slowly got up. 

Melissa: Y/N! HELP! 
She screamed as Y/N looked at Melissa as she was placed right next to an empty crystal. 

Y/N: NO! 
He yelled as he got to run at the knight. 

SHANK 

Y/N was stabbed in the leg as Melissa looked at him with tears. 

Despite his pain, Y/N kept crawling as he pulled out his gun to aim at the knight placing Melisa right next to the crystal. 

SHANK 

Y/N: AHHH!
He screamed as a knight stabbed him in the hand, making him drop the gun to the ground as Melisa looked at him with tears. 

Melissa: I-I love you Y/N
She said as the knight stabbed her in the stomach as it held Melissa in its hand. Y/N's eyes were full of tears as he saw her head slowly go limp. 

Y/N: NOOOOO! 
He yelled as he saw his teammate and friend die in front of him. The knight raised its blade as he was about to kill Y/N. Suddenly an orange aura formed around Y/N as he held a gun in his hand. Before the knight was able to kill him, Y/N blew his head off. The knight fell over as the other turned to him as he held the now powered up crystal in his hand. 

BANG 

Before the knight could react, Y/N formed a blade in his hand. Despite his injured leg, he slowly got up as the knight went to lung at him. Y/N side-stepped as the knight slammed its blade onto the ground near him. Before the knight could raise its blade above its head, Y/N sent his blade into the knight's throat. A black liquid slowly seeped out of the wound as the knight went to grab Y/N. Y/N formed his gun as the orange aura was still present. As the knight squeezed its arm in order to kill Y/N, Y/N shoved the gun down the knight's throat as it looked at him. 

Y/N: Die. 

BANG 

Y/N pulled the trigger and the knight slowly disintegrated onto the ground as Y/N fell onto the ground. Using his last ounce of strength, Y/N slowly crawled over to now dead body of his fallen teammate and friend. As he got to her body, he brought her body into his arms as tears ran down his cheeks. As he knelt there holding Melissa in his arms, there was multiple powered up crystals in the room. As his cries echoed in the room, multiple knights and thralls came into the room. As Y/N continued to cry, a purple aura slowly formed around him and Melissa. As he knelt there he only muttered words. 

Y/N: I'm sorry. 

Flashback Ends 

Third Person POV 

Y/N shook his head getting the horrible memory out of his head. Y/N continued piloting the ship as Ana came to the front.

Ana: Hey Y/n. 

Y/N: Hey. 
He said as he continued looking forward. 

Ana: How are you feeling? 

Y/N: I'm doing fine. 

Ana: You sure? 

Y/n: Yeah. 

Ana: You know. What happened to her wasn't your fault. 

Y/N: It is. 

Ana: No it's not. 
She said as she placed her hand on his shoulder. 

Ana: She'll make it. Don't be so hard on yourself. 
She said before going back to Savannah. 

Y/N: Only if it was me, then I'll be okay. 
He said to himself as he continued to fly. 

To Beacon 

While the team of guardians continued to fly, there was two people standing in the courtyard as one was crying while the other was looking at her in disappointment. One with black hair and a black bow while the other had a red cape. 

???: Blake. I-I'm sorry. 
She said with tears. 

Blake: First. You hurt him because you were threatened. Now you come and tell me that you're sorry AFTER EVERYTHING! 
She said with venom as she looked at the red caped girl in front of her. 

Ruby: I-I-I know. I-I-I'm sorry. 

Blake: Don't tell me you're sorry. If you never wanted this, you should have told him before he left. All because of you, Weiss, Yang, Sun, Neptune, and Jaune. 

Ruby: BUT I'M SORRY! 
She yelled. 

Blake: Don't tell me you're sorry when you could have stopped it all. 
She said before walking away from the crying red caped warrior. 

Ruby: P-P-P-P-Please. I-I-I-I'm sorry. 
She pleaded as she fell onto her knees, watching the black haired cat faunas walk away. 

To Y/N 

Y/N slowly docked the ship into the hanger and stepped out with his three teammates. As they walked out, they saw a familiar figure as he stood there. 

???: How ya doing Y/N. 

Y/N: You son of a bitch. 
He said as he brought the other guardian into a hug. 

???: Hey. That's not how you address a friend. 
He said as he pat Y/N on the back. 

???: Come you three. I'll take Savannah to the medical room. 

Aria: Alright Ikora. 
She said before walking away with Ikora. 

???: Come Y/n. 

Y/N walked with the guardian until he came up onto a deck where he was brought with the sight of the city. 

???: It's been  a while huh Y/N? 

Y/N: Sure is. 

"Cayde. Old Friend."
