Welcome to Manga Rambles, where I just ramble on about manga with no real uniformity or care. Different from my Anime Reviews, this'll be less structured and less reviewy but more just goofing off. Think of it as a sideline thing as I try to make anime reviews XD

So, the reason why I'm making this Manga Ramble is to talk about Tokyo Ghoul, a much dark, less humour filled seinen, and Fairy Tail, a battle packed, more fun and humour filled shonen.

I find it weird that I'm talking about these two, but it's mainly cause I was reading Tokyo Ghoul and Fairy Tail and Blue Exorcist while I was sick. Blue Exorcist left little impact except me just drooling all over Kato-senpai's amazing artwork, but when I read Ishida-senpai's Tokyo Ghoul, and also drooling all over the beautiful artwork, which actually inspired me to start my sketchy less uniformed inking style when I saw the more broken up lines of the art, the story was excellent and I found myself warming up to it quite a lot seeing as I haven't seen the anime in a long time and I didn't bother with Root A, let alone remember S1, I found myself enjoying the books.

But there was a sudden tone shift when I read Fairy Tail. After reading a dark and more, how do I say it... Uhm, oh, psychologically thrilling and to some extent "edgy", manga, reading this... Made the enjoyment of this silly manga more fun.

I ended laughing out loud to things I normally wouldn't find funny, and found my overall enjoyment sky rocketed what I expected.

Maybe sometimes we just need the stupid entertaining stories to balance the good well written ones.

Cause, like, we can critically look at a show and say...

Wow, that was shit. The characters were bland, the story was bad, the soundtrack was meh, the op was crap, the voice acting was horrible, pacing was slow and too fast for its own good, etc, etc, but watching it you might just want something stupid like that and be entertained as fuck.

No wonder SAO was so fundamentally flawed yet so satisfying to watch in a weird way, even with these broken pieces, maybe we just wanted this type of series to shit on after watching an episode or just this stupid thing that was overrated and hyped way too much. Maybe series like these are the reason why things like Tokyo Ghoul and Code Geass and Evangelion and Steins Gate and FMA, etc, are put so high up, because we have bad shows like SAO and to some extent every long running shonen manga series CAUSE JFC CAN U PLZ END SO I CAN WATCH U IN PEACE?! Cause I ain't watching Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail, etc, for any longer than 25 episodes max, unless the series is interesting like Code Geass.

Also, can I quickly side track on long running series that are interesting?

Cause I managed to pull through 50 episodes of Code Geass and want more, yet around the 30 episode mark for Bakuman and Soul Eater, I just lost steam for the series. It feels like a chore to go watch them, yet when I do, I find myself just wanting more? Like, where did logic like that go?!

It's just weird to me; and I just want to praise TG for keeping my attention for so long- while I think the build up was unnecessarily wrong, breaching 4-5 volumes to get to the actual meat of the series- it managed to keep me going and want more and the pay off was really nice, with an epic arc of Kaneki becoming Kanedgy, the CCG vs Aogiri Tree vs Anteiku, was all well done. But back at Vol. 9 it just seemed to tone down a lot and it kinda lost its charm. That's why I put it down by that point and read Fairy Tail.

But I digress! We have bad shows to show how good these hidden gems are. It's weird, yes, but without these shows, the world would be filled with all good written shows, and that'd be lame and boring.

Seriously though, go watch some dark edgy shit with no humour that you will enjoy, then go watch some mindless somewhat dumb long running shonen and you will feel better than if you just watched it after another shonen.

Btw, I'm not saying the Shonen Genre is bad by any means, one my favourite animes of all time is a Shonen, (Blue Exorcist btw. Although, what is Code Geass? I don't think it's a shonen... Or a seinen XD And I swear to God, if it's a Shoujo I will-) it's just that I find it stupid that they'd let a series go this long without ending. But hey, if it prints money, it's good. And I don't watch those series like Bleach and Naruto, mainly cause lack of time, so if I'm shitting on it now, I will probably regret it.

Also, I found a Fruits Basket manga in my English class on Friday. I almost died of laughter seeing it just on the floor. I don't know, it's the fact that the school owns manga that gets to me. I even laughed when I saw Pandora Hearts and Blue Exorcist was there in the library. (It ain't a bad thing, Blue Exorcist actually made me want to watch more anime, so thanks school! If it weren't for you I would've never become an Otaku! :D)

SCHOOL MADE ME AN OTAKU

(More like a weeb XD)

That's all, Fox out!
