Nick's P.O.V

I could hear Adarian and Roxanne downstairs talking while I was drying my wet hair in my bathroom. I smiled, I knew Adarian would get alone with my housekeeper.

As I hung my towel back up something on the floor caught my eye. I bent down to pick it up and held it up, it was a necklace and a black and sliver cross swung back and forth on the silver chain, as I stared at it I had a vision.

It was Adarian and she was staring at the necklace, the same one in my hands but instead it was hanging on a fancy jewelry tree.

As she stared at it sadness crept into her blue eyes, making them dull, biting her bottom lip, a tear slid down her cheek and she gently took it off its branch, putting it on.

"Mom, I'll never take this off....well when I take a shower or something, but I'll always carry you with me. I miss you."

Then she left the room and the vision disappeared.

This was Adarian's necklace, it was her mom's, this had great value to her, but why was it on the floor in my bathroom?

Roxanne must of let her.

Maybe, it made sense.

I sighed and grimaced as my anger ignited, heat rushed through my vains as the demon tried to come out.

The daeve left everything how it was, I wouldn't even of known she was here if she had of dropped her necklace. I couldn't be mad at that, besides the little demon down stairs was a half breed human and demon, and she lost her mom last night, watching her die. And I thought walking in on my mine was unbearable, but watching?

She had balls, I'll admit that.

I held the necklace in my hand and left the bathroom, turning off the lights, and pulled a grey shirt over my head as I walked down the stairs. I found the girls chatting in the kitchen, Roxanne cooking while Adarian sat at the island on a stool, leaning on the countertop, on her crossed arms, still wearing the black shirt I gave Roxanne to let her use. Seeing it on her made me realize how tall and big I was. And yet I was her age, size, and height once.

Adarian turned as I walked in and smiled. "Morning."

"Morning Mr. Gautier."

"Morning kid, morning Roxanne." I said taking a seat on the stool next to her and placed my right hand on the counter, sliding it towards her. She looked at my hand then up at me with a puzzled grimace as she sat back. I leaned in and whispered in her ear. "You left this in the bathroom."

I took my hand off the jewelry and she gasped, looking up at me with wide eyes that were filled with fear, guilt, and something else. "I'm so sorry."

"Its fine, you touched nothing that wasn't yours that you weren't aloud too, you used what you needed and left, its ok."

The fear died in her eyes and she grinned faintly. "Thank you for the shrit, 'preciate it."

I gave her a cocky grin. "Welcome."

"Can I ask you something?"

I shrugged. "Ask a way, kid."

"Can you help me unpack? If you don't mind and if you're not busy."

I blinked, caught off guard by the request, she really wanted me, Nick Gautier, the most dangerous demon, to help her unpack. I was shocked that I was actually glad that she asked.

Say yes idiot, she's waiting.

I nodded. "Sure, I could help with that, I'd expect you to ask Roxanne, but yes I'll help you."

She shrugged nonchalantly, putting the necklace back on. "Roxie's busy with cleaning, and taking care of the house, it took awhile but I finally convinced her that she had enough to do and that helping me unpack wasn't worth her time, and I'll say this: it took a lot to convince her."

I chuckled but then remembered something from last night. "Have you text or called Caleb yet?"

"No, but the look on your face says I should." She slid off the stool. "I'll go get my phone and call him."

I caught her by the arm before she left. "Its ok, you can use mine."

She opened her mouth to object, but obviously thought better a out it a d closed it as I handed her my phone. "Oh, ok, thanks, Nick." And walked off into the living room to call Malphas.

"You like her, Mr. Gautier, don't you?" Roxanne said suddenly and I turned to look at her with a puzzled expression.

"Of course I like her, she's nice, andi relate to what she's going through, I just don't want to see someone else end up the way I did and regret it."

She nodded but voices in the living room cut her off what she was going to say and I left the kitchen to see what was going on.
