                   Phoenix's POV

After the small romantic break from an awful situation. Amator and I went our separate ways for the night, him to his room and me to my house with my father.

When we got home my father broke the tense and worried silence. "You have to be more careful than ever, my beloved phoenix. Your life is in danger because of a fae invented device that man thinks can decide one's fate! A computer matched you with that vile boy and now a computer has decided your match is going to have the one job that will threaten your life and your amor aeternus' life. And what's even worse is that vile boy seems to be over enthusiastic about his new job."

As he spoke my father paced the room with worry. I watched debating how to tell about what happened in the bathroom. Finally I decided to just say it.

"I know, Dad, and Amator knows that too. When I went to calm down he came to talk to me. He let me cry on him as he hugged me and then we talked about how we had to stay away from each other, then he um..." I paused blushing, "he...um... said that he wanted to do something before we couldn't see each anymore, then he kissed me and something happened. After we kissed I heard his voice tell me that he'd been waiting to do that, but he didn't speak it he thought it. I tried it and he heard what I thought to him. We can communicate telepathically with each other, Dad!"

My dad looks shocked. Then he sighs and says, "It's good that you are not completely separated from your amor aeternus. Please just be extra careful around your match."

"I will," I say nodding. My father looks at me and sighs again, hopelessly and tired.

"We've had a long day, my phoenix, why don't we get some rest?"I nod and we head off to bed.

                         🔥🔥🔥

The next day my friends noticed that I was acting more cautious and less like myself. Alisanne was of course the first to call me out on my behavior.

"Okay that's enough!" she says looking at me, " You've been acting weird all day, you haven't once opened your sketch book, you've been quiet and respectful to the teachers so much so that they've given you strange looks, and you've been paying attention to every single subject. Now tell us what you're trying to keep your mind off of, and so help if the slime ball has done anything to hurt you we will personally show him how much pain a person can endure."

"No, he didn't hurt me." I said, "but he has the power to." I mumbled yet Kai heard and immediately became alert. "I'm just a little on edge his job placement turned out to be a type of enforcer and I don't want to go to prison for something stupid who knows he could find anything small to put me in prison for so he didn't have to go through with this match so he can have all of his lovers he wanted." I said as I gave Kai a meaningful look. As my words registered the color drained from his face.

The rest of the group nodded or shrugged in half understanding. Kai gave me a look that promised a further conversation later.

The rest of lunch was filled with awkward conversation after Arlo changed the subject to his match who was a nice, sweet, shy girl.

                        🔥🔥🔥

That night Kai came over as he normally did, but today we both knew there was an urgent we needed to talk about.

"He's a Fae Enforcer!" Kai exclaimed when he came in, "This is bad, very bad."

"I know it is, especially for Amator and me." I said, "But, we've talk and have agreed to stop all communications with each other except for our new found communication ability, b-"

"Hold on, what do you mean by your 'new found communication ability'?" He interrupted.

I sighed I didn't have time to tell him there are more important matters at hand, "After I found out I went to the bathroom to calm down, he followed, we talked, we kissed, now we can communicate telepathically, but that's not important right now we can talk about that later."

He nodded in agreement and waited for me to start. I sighed again, where do I start?

"Okay, so as I was saying me and Amator are at the most risk because we're around him all the time, but I think Amator is safer than I am because Lucifer is too arrogant and self-centered to think someone in his family could be Fae without him knowing. So, that puts me and indirectly my dad at the most risk." My voice began to shake as I continued realizing that my worst was closer than ever to becoming a reality.

"So I want you to promise me that if something happens to me, like if Lucifer finds out about me, you'll make sure my dad won't be found out."

He stared at me wide-eyed and shocked slowly shaking his head.

"Promise me, Kai", I begged on the verge of tears.

"I can't, you know how serious a promise is to fae I can't promise something if I don't know if I can keep my promise." He responded shaking his head.

"Then at least promise me you'll try your hardest," I cried.

"I promise I'll try my hardest at protecting your father from being discovered in the event you are discovered." He said with resignation.

"Thank you," I said tearfully. Then I realized that another part of my vision came true in that conversation.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Hey y'all sorry for both the long wait and the few false alarms today.

Well I'm officially 17 now with my birthday being in November then my brother's in December and a few families health issues I couldn't find the time to write, so in case I don't updated before Christmas, MERRY CHRISTMAS! Or Happy Holidays.
