Pelco's POV

"What?!", Oaktail cried.

"Wait! I've been trying to find the assailants for a little over a week now. If you give me enough time, I can proove that Oaktail didn't do it", I protested.

"I doubt that", Poisonleaf scoffed.

"First of all, why would a killer just leave a trail of blood like that?", I demanded.

"That is a really good point", Clay remarked.

"And how do we even know it was a Leafwing?", I asked.

"I saw a leafwing", Damselefly said, glaring at Oaktail.

"Ok, but, that doesn't mean it was Oaktail. I have reason to believe that someone's been trying to frame Oaktail. If you just give me some time, I can find out who did this."

Poisonleaf looked very annoyed at being over-ruled.

Fine. You have until dawn tomarow morning", she said after a moment.

"What? But I-"

"If you can't do it, then I'll just take Oaktail and we'll be on our-"

"No, no, no, I can do it. I just need to get it together."
Poisonleaf looked even more annoyed at being interupted.

I flew outside to think.

Being out in nature had always helped me process things, but in case you haven't noticed already, it's hard to do anything when Junco is yelling.

"You killed three of your fellow students! You're a murderer!", Junco yelled at Oaktail.

I'm sure he would have attacked Oaktail if Windhaven hadn't held him back.

No. This was not happening.
No one was ever going to talking that way to any of my friends on my watch.

"Shut up! We don't even know if they are dead! they could just be in hidding for one reason or another! It can't be Oaktail!", I yelled back.

"Oh yeah? Well your his girlfriend it's not as if you would tell us if he was a killer!", Junco retorted.

He raised his talon to strike me, when a loud crack split through the air.

Oaktail was the first to react.
He jumped on me and Junco, pushing us out of the way.

A large Redwood tree fell right where Junco had been standing.

"Pelco, are you alright?", Oaktail asked.

But, I didn't hear him; my claws were glowing with an eerie blood-red light.

"What?"

A feeling of dread came over me.

"You did that! You tried to kill me! You are a monster!"
Junco was practly yelling accusations at this point.

Tears rolled down my snout.

"Maybe you're right."

I flew off without even looking back.

"Pelco, wait!", Oaktail called after me.

"Just give her some time", Dusky advised in his sweet, understanding voice.

I remebered the note from earlier.

Was it right?

Am I somehow responible for this?
Am I a telekinectic and my powers almost killed Junco?
What is wrong with me?

I looked down at my talons.
They looked more like they were covered in blood than ever before.

Am I a killer?

I flew down and landed by the Wisteria tree.

I'd tryed not to go there but, it'd seemed my wings wouldn't take me any-where else.

I looked down into the river.
How could I looked at myself again knowing that I was a killer?
I angerily splashed the water with my talon, disrupting the image.

Who am I?

38 minutes later...

Oktail walked up and put a wing around me.

"I thought I'd find you here."

I found myself crying tears I thought I'd beaten half-an-hour earlier.

"Who am I, Oaktail?"

Oaktail looked me straight in the eyes.

"You are Pelco. You are my girlfriend and the sister of Angelfish, Cory and Carp. You are best friends with Cliff, Dusky, Tody, Auklet and Bumblebee.
You are adventurous, funny, smart, loyal, and brave. You like solving mysteries and are determined to solve this one. And, we belive in you, Pelco."

He pulled me into another hug.

"It's going to be ok, Melleth nin."

He looked down and for the first time, noticed my necklace.

A weird expression came over his face.

"Where did you get this?", he asked.

"It's a family heirloom. My Mother gave it to me a few years ago."

Oaktail ran one of his claws along the stars delicate edges and then, he stopped.

The star opend and he gently pulled out a small peice of paper.

"What in the world?"

Oaktail's eyes moved like he was reading something.

His face filled with alarm.

The note read:

Enchant this necklace to give the wearer dangerous telekinectic powers that almost kill her friends when she is experiencing strong emotions.

I looked at Oaktail in astonished silence for a moment.

"Did you hear the story from a few years back? The one about a deformed Rainwing who used a magic scroll to disguise himself?", I asked.

"But, wasn't that scroll destroyed?", Oaktail reminded me.

"Yes, but, even afterwards, the Rainwing (I think his name was Chameleon) still had parts of the scroll, at least for a time. So, maybe parts of the scroll are still out there. Let's bring this to Qibli, mybe he can tell us what's going on."

"Its unlikely that even small parts of Darkstalker's scroll have survived after all this time, but, it isn't impossible And, maybe it wasn't the same scroll; maybe another animus had the same idea as Darkstalker", Qibli said after looking at the paper.

"Ok, so here's what I think may have happend: Someone snuck into my room and put this inside my necklace. My Mother said that it used to be used as a locket, so, that would explain how they were able to put this paper inside. What I can't explain, is who they were, how they got this, and why they did it", I said.

There was a moment of silence.

"How are you going to catch them?", Tsunami asked finaly.

"I have a plan, but, it's going to be dangerous", I warned.

Oaktail took my talons.

"I don't care how dangerous it may be, if I can help you, I will by my life or death."

I smiled.

"Thank you, Oaktail."

"If there's anything we can do to help, we're in", Sunny informed me.

"If you need to set aanyone on fire, I'm right here", Peril added.

"Don't forget about us!", Dusky said, runing towards us.

"Don't you dare solve this mystery without me!", Bumblebee said in her most furocious vioce.

"Wait! We're coming too!", Tody yelled as he and Cliff bonded out of their hidding places.

"Afterall, you need dragons of intelligence on this sort of mission. . . investigation. . . . thing."

Cliff jabbed him in the stomach.

"Well that leaves you out, Tody.

I looked at them.
These were my friends, my clawmates, my companions.
I knew I could count on them more than anyone else in the world.

"Alright", I said with a confident grin," let's do this."

"Right.
So, what's the plan?"
