That's how two years went by when Vinnie got pregnant and got a beautiful little boy with Kevin. Vince was watching the harmonious family from afar, learning from newspapers and magazines, who spoke about the two perfectly matching social workers, with remarkable work. Which they not only taught in their speeches, but they also experienced personally.

The studio at Vince's house in Pacific, each day hosted a new tune, after his exclusive occupation. He organized a concert at the nearby stadium in Vancouver with his new songs and the proceeds were donated to poor, homeless, and drug addicts. A large portion of his personal property was donated to build a small hospital that would provide the first needs to sick needy people. His work was heard all over the world, while Lavinia and Kevin publicly congratulated him.

Vince, through the alms that became a necessary move, found the true meaning of life, which gives God's joy. Helping others he slowly recovered himself and despair seemed to leave him for good. He continued with more zeal the help to the fellow man, regardless of the high noses, dismissive, and many times snide comments of fellow artists, who most of them had a similar personal drama with that of Vince's.

Though far from Lavinia, he knew in his heart that she was very happy and proud of the course of his life. This feeling gave him even more courage to continue his work and offer as much as he could.

At that time, an actress, not very well-known, was stalking him and through an artist of Vince's mutual friend, approached him and met him personally. Marianne was an old fan of his, so they got in touch quickly. Philip saw it as a positive step. He arranged a dinner at an expensive restaurant in Vancouver at his own expense. He thought it was time for Vince to take a step even in his romance. Marianne was pretty excited to meet him in person.

"You look like a happy girl," Vince whispered to her.

"Yes, it's obvious, isn't it? I mean..." she stuck with a smile of naivety.

"What kind of job you do, Marianne?"

"I'm an actress. I mean, not really, I mean I really like acting and I want to make a remarkable career."

"You've been in a movie?"

"Yeah, I've done a few entries, third parts, you know, but I dream about something better."

"The leading role, huh?" Vince asked sure.

"Something like that."

"And what do you think would change even if you had such a role?"

Marianne was stunned for seconds. His question got her thinking before she answered him. She knew that she hadn't to do with a rookie, but with an already established artist in the entertainment business, where his career especially the last few years, went through the hoop.

"You want me to answer for you?" he asked her. "Well, listen, Marianne, the excitement at the beginning before you conquer a big goal, is this sweet anticipation of the result that's eating away at all the energy, all the attention. Once you get it right and the time goes by, you realize it wasn't so awesome that you went crazy. Then it comes the period of managing all this 'phenomenal' happiness. There, as usual, no one succeeds. Very rare. You fail to manage success, you catch my drift?"

Marianne looked at him frowning. She seemed quite troubled, with many questions; she began to feel the raw truths he told her.

"You'd imagined things differently, huh?" he asked her with a sideways smile.

"No, it's just... I don't understand why after an artist's success following unhappiness. Happiness should follow, right?" she asked bewildered.

Smiling, he took a few sips of alcohol, lit a cigarette, and took the tone of the orator.

"At the beginning of my career, I saw nothing but 'joy', 'supposed happiness', success, money, luxury, fame, expensive cars, and glory. I horribly underestimated my own talent for music and let "settling" devour me. To be number one, even from the music I've loved since I was a kid. Measured people at times who saw my arrogance spread through my life like an epidemic, tried to hold me back, catch up with me before I broke my face. I didn't hear them. And when I realized it was more important to have love in my life, when I got that I would miss this if I didn't have it, it was too late. All the fame and money wasn't enough for me to fill the void of that feeling. I got involved with drugs and alcohol, as you probably already know. I lost my daughter when she was born. Did success and glory have been able to bring back my child? Where was their power at the most critical moment of my life?" despondent, he drank more and continued. "That's why I'm telling you, you want to be an actress? Good. Don't make this a primary target. Think of it as a professional step, not a lifeline. Because this is gonna take everything from you. And worst of all, it'll take away your right to choose. This world is bitter if you're not careful, Marianne. And it's not just some guy telling you. I'm telling you, I'm famous all over the world."
