Present Day
Hikaru (POV)
The sky weeps as Mikasa and I take out another titan. The bell tolls signaling the completion the civilian evacuation and the closing of the gate.
SL- That's it we're done. Now scale the wall.
Hikaru- Sorry sir but not without my brother.
Mikasa- Hikaru and I should help the vanguard withdraw sir.
We take off without giving him a chance to speak.
Mikasa *mind*- This a cruel world but I have a place in it. Eren, as long as you live, I can fight to the bitter end. Daisuke........I need you to be in my place. Without you, there is no me. There's no place in this world for me if you aren't with me. You are my other half. You complete me so please........STAY ALIVE.
We scale the nearest tower to see if we can see the boys. We notice the surviving soldiers not going over the wall.
Mikasa- Why isn't anyone going over the wall? They must have heard the withdrawal signal.
Hikaru- That's why.
I turn Mikasa's head in the direction I'm looking at. It's HQ and it's been overrun.

Armin (POV)
I've lost all will to go on. There's no point. Eren and Daisuke are dead. The vanguard has been wiped out, everyone is almost out of gas for the ODM gear and the only supplies for gas is at HQ but that place has been taken over by Titans. It's all hopeless. So here I sit motionless amongst the others who've lost their will to fight. Yet people like Sasha is trying to rally us for an assault on HQ.
Sasha- Armin! It's time to go.
I don't respond and wallow in my emptiness.
Annie (POV)
Annie- Reiner. Do we move out?
Reiner- Not yet. We have to let them gather up first.
Marco- It's no use. There's too many of them. I don't think any of us are going to survive this. I've come to accept my pending demise. I just.......wanted my death to mean something.
There's a stir amongst us as word of Hikaru and Mikasa have joined us. Both girls come to me.
Mikasa- Annie! I know how bad things have gotten. It's selfish. Putting personal matters in the forefront, but have you seen Eren and Daisuke's squad?
I tense up. I realize that I haven't seen Daisuke anywhere.
Annie *mind*- No. There's no way he would.......
Annie- Some squads made it back I unfortunately haven't seen their squad yet.
Reiner- We found Armin. He's over there.
Hikaru- Thank you.
Hikaru and Mikasa quickly head over to Armin. I need to get a listen to this so I go where they went but keep my distance.
Mikasa- Armin.
He's just slumped over like he's lifeless.
Hikaru- Hey Armin. Are you okay? You're hurt are you?
He shakes and both girls sigh in relief.
Mikasa- Where are the boys? Where's Daisuke and Eren?
Eren looks up with tears in his eyes.

Annie *mind*- No! That's a god damn lie! He can't!!
His tears stream down his face as his lips quiver.
I get a little closer and see that both girl's eyes are wide.
Armin- (crying) They were.......The cadets of Squad 34. Thomas Wagner. Nack Tierce. Milieus Zeremski. Mina Carolina. Eren Jaeger! Daisuke Tatsuo!!! These brave six upheld their duties. They died valiantly on the field of battle!!
Just like that, it's like my whole world came crashing down. I could feel tears escaping my eyes for the first time since that day.

Hikaru (POV)
Hikaru *mind*- Daisuke Tatsuo. My older brother. You're hotheaded at times but you did things out of the kindness of your heart. You were selfless and put others before yourself. Just hours ago, you spoke to me and you made me feel like everything was going to be okay. And now this? Why? Why now of all times? These monsters took you away and now I'm here all alone.
Mikasa (POV)
Mikasa *mind*- My world as I know it is no more. I have nothing anymore. Both of you gone so suddenly. I shouldn't have left either of you alone. Eren, I said I'd protect you. I promised your mom that is protect you. Daisuke..........you broke your promise. You said you'd never leave me. You said you had someone to live for. There gonna say time will heal. But neither time nor reason will change how I feel. No one will know the heartache that will hide behind my expressionless face. No one will know how many times I will break down and cry. I wanted to tell you how I felt. It always brought a smile to my face thinking about you. Now, you'll never be able to leave my head because you are impossible to live without.
