Hey everyone, I think this is the chapter you’ve been waiting for…some one on one Sutton Colton time. I hope you like it, remember to vote and comment!

“Sutton we’re going over to the Smith’s, please just let me know if you go anywhere.”

I waved to my mother as she said goodbye. The Smiths were and old family friend, and my parents were going to have a dinner night with them.

“So why do you have to do a school project on Friday night? I mean, when is this thing due?” Vee asked from where she was lying on my bed, her head buried in a magazine.

I shrugged my shoulders. “I promised him tonight we would work on it.”

“Oh it’s a boy, is he cute? What’s his name?”

Vee asked the one thing I knew I couldn’t lie to her about, and I bit my lip in frustration. How could I break this to her…

“It’s just Colton,” I stated casually walking over to my closet and pulling out an outfit for tonight.

The room was almost dead silent as I held up my black skinny jeans.

“Oh, that Colton.”

“Yeah that Colton.”

Once again, the room became silent as I rummaged through my clothes for something suitable. I wasn’t trying to impress Colton, it’s not like we were going on a date, but I was going to party afterwards. I stripped out of my shorts and wiggled into the black pants. After taking off my shirt, I stood in front of my closet looking for anything.

Finally, I fell upon a short red blouse with the back open in the shape of a heart. It was cute and a little bit risky at the same time, suitable for a party. After changing into a black bando, I pulled the shirt over my head and looked down at the pile of shoes on my floor. Immediately, I grabbed my brown combat boots and slipped them on. Although Melody would have scolded me for not wearing heels, I wanted to be able to walk tonight.

“A little dressed up for working on a school project,” Vee muttered looking me up and down.

Rolling my eyes, I took a brush through my hair. “I’m meeting you at the party afterwards Vee.”

She nodded. “I know but-“

“But what? Why do you and Mark hate him? I mean, Blaine thought he was fine, and it’s not like I have a crush on him, I can have friends that are guys, not saying we’re friends but still, I can make my own decisions.”

Vee nodded. “I know, you’re one of the most capable people in this planet. It’s just that Colton Jones is the sort of guy who hurts girls like you.”

“Like me?”

“You know what I mean Sutton, I just don’t want you to get hurt,” Vee explained quickly.

I shook my head. “He can’t hurt me if I don’t give him the chance.”

She smiled. “That’s what I want to hear.”

A little horn rang out, and both Vee and I rushed outside my room and down the stairs. I peered out my front window to see Colton hoping off his bike and heading towards the door.

“See you at the party, just lock up when you leave,” I told Vee giving her a hug.

After our short embrace, I beat Colton to the door and met him outside.  His mouth formed a smile once he saw me.

“You wore red,” he said right away, looking at my shirt.

I suddenly remember that he always mentioned something about the color red on me, and nodded my head. “Yeah I guess I did. So are we just going to you house to work on the video or what?”

He laughed. “No, but I can’t tell you where we are going.”

“Why?” I asked as we approached his motorcycle.

“Because it’s a surprise.”

Knowing that Colton was just as stubborn as me, I decided not to bother him until he told me. He handed me a helmet, and I strapped in on.

“You’re a good driver right?” I joked out of nervousness.

He didn’t answer me until I was on the bike and the engine was rumbling. “I’ve only had a few accidents.”

Although I knew he was joking, my stomach still did a little flip. Then the bike took off and there was no chance of backing out.

**

The night passed us in a blur as Colton’s bike took us zooming down the road. All my nervousness went away the second we took off, I never knew riding a bike could be so much fun. Now I knew why people risked riding a death machine, it was exhilarating. Maybe adrenalin junkies weren’t so crazy after all…

Soon enough, the street lights and town businesses disappeared. We were heading out more towards the country, and I couldn’t help but wonder where we were going. The thought of driving the motorcycle myself kept my mind busy enough, but by the time we pulled into a small parking lot next to a huge warehouse, my nerves were back.

The engine died and I quickly removed myself from the bike. “That was really fun,” I said without thinking.

Colton laughed as I removed my helmet. “Most girls are terrified of my bike.”

“Most girls? So you take a lot of girls out on your bike?”

My question must have taken Colton by surprise and he frowned. Without answering me, he looked up at the warehouse.

“Ready?” he asked walking towards the huge building.

I took off after him. “Hey why’d you take me here out in the middle of nowhere? Are you planning to chop me up or something.”

He instantly spun around. “How’d you know?”

Without anther word, he grabbed me and flipped me over his shoulder. Before I could make a sound, he took off towards the warehouse.

“Haha very funny Colton, put me down!” I shouted pounding his backside with my hand.

He let out a little laugh. “Whoa woman, keep your hands to yourself!”

Giggling, I hit him again. “Practice what you preach man!”

Finally, we were to the door and Colton placed me on my feet. His hand lingered on my bare back for only a short moment before he reached for the latch and pulled it open. I looked into a doorway of darkness as Colton searched for the light switch.

Suddenly, the whole place was illuminated with a bright white light. As soon as my eyes adjusted I got a great view of the whole place. It looked like an old gym, except now it was used for fun. A huge foam pit sat in the middle of the room surrounded by trampolines. Behind is here was some sort of upper level that you could get to by climbing up a ladder. The only way down was jumping into the pit, or climbing back down.

Different kinds of gymnastic bars and rings hung everywhere, and there was a corner in the room where some mats sat. Above them a rope latter hung that reached all the way to the ceiling.

“What is this place?” I asked suddenly remembering Colton was here with me.

My eyes moved to his face and a grin spread across his lips. “I guess you could call it my little creation. I used to be a gymnast, but it got to competitive and time consuming, so my dad built me this so I could come here whenever I wanted.”

“Your dad built you this?”

He looked away and grabbed my arm. “Come on.”'

Colton sure did have  way with not answering my questions...

He managed to pull my halfway across the warehouse before I thought about why we were really together and what we were supposed to be doing. “Hey what does this have to do with the project?” I asked.

Instead of answering me, Colton took off towards one of the trampolines. He amazed me with a few really cool fancy flips before the project popped back into my mind.

“No really Colton, what are we doing here? Don’t we need to work?”

Sighing, he got off the trampoline. “I have the camera somewhere in here,” he said before disappearing into a back room.

After a few seconds, he came out with a fairly decent sized camera, and it looked like it had just been purchased. “Problem solved,” he said switching the device on and pointing it towards me.

I rolled my eyes and he stepped closer. “Come on I’m serious.”

He laughed. “I know me too; I was thinking we could call it ‘A day in the Life of Sutton Bran’”

“Well that would be a pretty boring film, trust me.”

“I could spice it up a little,” he stated flipping the camera off and taking it away from his eye. “But before we get started, I want you to jump.”

I raised an eyebrow at him. “Jump off what?”

He smiled. “Up there, it’s really fun trust me.”

I followed to where his finger pointed. Up high in the air stood the second level, a latter attached to it so I could climb up. Very far underneath it the foam pit stood.

“No way,” I said. “I hate heights.”

“If you do it, I promise I’ll be serious about this project.”

“No.”

“Come on, it will be over in a second.”

“No!”

The beeping of the camera brought me to look at him. He was once again holding the device towards me.

“Please Sutton, one jump into the foam pit and I promise I’ll leave you alone.”

I sighed. “No way, I could like break my neck or something.”

He laughed. “What are you chicken?”

“Yes, actually I am and your peer pressure won’t make me jump,” I admitted truthfully, crossing my arms.

“Fine, if you don’t jump I won’t do this project with you,” Colton stated.

“Blackmailing, really?”

 “Really…”

Thrusting my arms back to my sides, I spun around and headed for the ladder. “Fine but if you don’t help me with this project after, I’m asking for a new partner.”

Without another work, I brought myself to the ladder and started climbing. Rung after rung my hands became sweatier, and once I was to the top my stomach was in a nervous knot. Shaking a little, I pulled myself to the edge of the platform and peered down. It looked much higher from here than down on the ground.

My eyes darted to Colton, who still held the camera up to this face. It was pointed at me. “Colton, I don’t think I can do this,” I said truthfully, looking back down at the foam pit below.

“Don’t doubt yourself, once you do it, you’ll be satisfied.”

Taking in a deep breath, I closed my eyes and jumped.
