Maya's PoV

I went into Bill and Charlie's room and sat in the bay window studying lines and then I sighed and started to sing a song, the tune was already in mind and it was about Riley.

"Good morning, you're leaving, I'll see you in the evening, My best friend till the end, My better half no pretend, Our language is sacred, Though people try to solve it, New adventures on the way," I sang "You and me together, take on the world forever, I know all your secrets, and I promise you I'm gonna keep them,"

I after singing for a little while more, I went back to my script. I was studying it so much I didn't even notice Bill and Charlie enter the room.

"What are you doing?" Charlie asked me and I quickly stuffed the script into my bag.

"What was that?" Bill asked me.

"Do you two just go everywhere together?" I asked.

"No," Bill said, "We just are really close siblings,"

"So, what was that?" Charlie asked me.

"Nothing," I said.

They both gave me identical disbelieving looks.

"Are you sure that you two aren't twins?" I asked them.

"Yeah," Charlie said.

"What do you two want?" I asked.

"Go downstairs, talk to Mum and sort things out. We'll be right there next to you," Charlie told me.

"Okay," I said.

We walked down to where she had just stopped sobbing her heart out.

"Mum, Maya's here, can you just answer her questions?" Bill asked her softly.

She nodded.

"Be nice," Charlie told me.

"Why did you leave me in America for 14 years?" I asked emotionlessly.

Charlie and Bill groaned and Charlie face palmed.

"What?" I asked them.

"What happened to nice?" Bill asked.

"I can say it in ways that will make that sound nice, you want me to make it sound nice?" I asked.

"Just continue," Charlie said.

"Why did you leave me in America for 14 years?" I asked her again.

"Because we wanted you to have a chance at a normal life," She said.

"Then why did you grab me back?" I asked.

"Because it was time to get you back. I missed you dearly and it was time for everyone to meet their long lost sister," She said.

"So it took 14 years to miss me enough to get me back?" I asked her.

"No," She said, "I always wanted you back, but I figured when you were older you would be more accepting, more open to a new family and a new life,"

"Well heres the thing. I would never be open to this. I don't like change, and I love my friends and family back home, and as interesting as this is, I loved going through life with my best friends. Heres and important name, Riley Matthews. She has been my best friend since we were both 5 years old. We have done everything together and we know each other better than anyone else in the world. She came to me when she was sad and I went to her when I was sad. She helped me in more ways than you can imagine. She is literally the best thing that happened to me," I said.

"I know, and I'm so sorry Maya, could you ever forgive me?" She asked me pleadingly.

Everyone was looking particularly pleading.

"Fine, I can forgive, but I swear, I will NEVER forget," I said.

She crushed me into a huge hug and I think she is trying to suffocate me.

"Mum, your crushing her," Charlie said.

Ron's PoV

After that fiasco, Harry, Hermione, and I dragged her upstairs.

"So why don't you like yelling?" I asked her.

"Ugh, I'm only telling this story once, so listen closely," She said.

"Wait, lets get Bill, Charlie, Ginny, Fred, and George also," I said and dragged them up to our room.

"So, why don't you like yelling?" I asked her.

"I'm telling this once," She repeated.

"Okay, we're all listening," Ginny promised her.

"I was little, maybe around 4 or 5 years old." She said, "And I thought that the yelling was too loud. I thought it was too scary,"

"Who was yelling?" Charlie asked her.

"My Mom and Dad," She said, "They were arguing again. I remember sitting in my room as far away from the arguing as I could. I remember sitting near a window on the cold hard floor hugging my knees to my chest and crying. I remember that it was a sunny day, a nice day. The sky was blue and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I remember birds chirping and flying around. They were there playing in the sky, carefree, having fun, and singing their little song. The only sound in my home was yelling. I remember trying to draw a picture of a happy family, the three of us together, but I couldn't. I looked at the homework assignment that I had yet again failed,"

Hermione looked appalled at that information and Maya gave her a small grin.

"It asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote that I wanted to be Happy, my teacher said that I didn't understand," She said, "Anyway, I heard some glass shatter and I remember jumping. The sound scared me, what if one of them was hurt? I was petrified. I remember every time I got home from the park, or whenever they were both home, there was yelling. It scared me, it scared me that people who were married, who promised to love each other forever were fighting. I didn't know what was going to happen. I loved both of my parents, but in the end of the day. It was always my Mom who would come into my bedroom. She would take my tearstained face in her hands and tell me, 'Don't worry baby girl, everything going to be alright. Everything will work itself out. Just don't let people get to you. Do your best and you will be happy, I will always love you, no matter what.' And then she would give me a hug. And every day, before I stepped into the war zone, I would go to a park. There was a statue there, I loved that statue and could look at it all day. But I would always go back home, always cry when I heard the yelling, the screaming, the fighting. And one day I ran away from home,"

"You did?" A teary eyed Hermione asked.

"I did, I was tired of the screaming, the fighting, the yelling, so I walked around the city, and then I heard someone singing. I climbed through a window and that was when I met my best friend Riley Matthews. She was sitting in her bay window and hoping, for someone to come and sit down next to her. She was basically the opposite of me. She was hopeful, she was happy all the time. She had parents that loved each other, she let me, a little girl that came through her window be her friend. We promised to be best friends. We balanced each other out. Her family took me in and that bay window was our sanctuary. It was where I felt safe. But even after running away, I went back. I couldn't stay away. But I went over to Riley's every day. Her parents were so nice to me, they loved and cared for me. They knew what was going on, I told them. They invited me over for breakfast every day to escape the yelling and let me play with Riley. One day, when Riley's little brother Auggie was being born, she was telling me how she didn't want to share her parents. I told her she was very lucky, she had a family who loved each other. She asked me what was wrong, she could always see through me, no matter what. And I told her that I didn't know where my daddy was, those are the exact words that I said. He left me. He left my Mom. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to her cries. I saw even less of her because she needed to have a bunch of jobs to keep me fed, clothed, and have the lights on. But Riley was always there for me. Always there no matter what. We were stuck together like glue. We know each other inside and out. I always wondered what I did wrong, what could I possibly have done to be left. What could I possibly have done wrong to have him leave. I met him once, he has a whole other family, married and everything. He told me it wasn't my fault, but he also told me that he would never leave me. But my Mom, she did everything for me, she loved me for who I was and cared for me no matter what. She was always there for me, always supporting me. She did her best for me and encouraged me to do my best. And that folks is why I don't like yelling. But I will yell," She said.

I looked around and everyone was teary eyed.

"It all makes sense now," Bill said.

"Whatever you say Einstein," Maya said.

"Who's Einstein?" Ginny asked her.

"A really smart person who's dead," She said.

Ginny stared at her and then crushed her into a hug. Then we all had a huge group hug pulling Hermione and Harry in as well.

"What's this for?" Maya asked.

"It's not your fault he left Maya," Hermione told her.

"Thats what everyone says," Maya said.

"You don't have to be scared about being left in this family," Charlie reassured her.

"Does it still hurt?" Ginny asked her.

"It hurts, It's hurt me every day of my life," She said
