Mr. Akamu, the Professor who bailed us out from prison the other years was sitting right close to me... It was Unbelievable. Barrister Yetunde must have worked so hard to get these people testify my innocence.

So was Mrs. Abayomi from the market. I mean... The bread seller. I could hardly recorgnise her.

He was a poor, hungry boy who had nowhere to go. I was too harsh on this innocent soul and I lied...I did what would cause a disgrace to womanhood. I called the police, then, I wasn't a mother but now, I am one.  I'm pleading for this boy...oh, this man's release and I want to withdraw this case and clear his name. The truth would always prevail, I can't bare to withness anymore to his torture and suffering, knowing I caused it...

Yes finally, I'm out. I went to meet barrister Yetunde to show my gratitude.

"No, don't thank me. I was only being humane."

"Thanks again for being humane. You didn't just fulfil your promises but you kept them as well. I wish all lawyers could be like you."

"I hope you wishes come true, Mr. Tunde." She smiled and paused for a while. The pause made her eyebrows furrow as if she was confused about something.
" So, who is coming for you now?Where are you going so we can meet later again."

My smile dropped as she raised these questions. "How strange, I never thought about these till now. I don't have anyone right now. My past has just been a mess. I think I'll just hang around, see what I can do to raise money for myself and start a living."

"Why don't you come after me? I would take Care of you..."

"What?.... No no no oo, you've already done so much for me. No, I can't."

"Yes, you can. Take it as not being a lawyer at the appropriate time." She smiled and I stupidly followed her.

"I would love to introduce you to my fiancee."

"What? Are you engaged?"

She nodded, showing me the golden engagement ring on her left hand.

"Yes, Our wedding would take place in Ikeja next month. And you definately have no reason not to be there."

"If you say so, what can I do? You have a way in making people follow your rules, don't you?"

"Yes, that is why I'm a lawyer." She smiled again, I couldn't help but to find myself smiling with her.

It's been so long I wore a smile... Come to think of it, it's been ages since I last smiled. I don't know why bit I feel a connection between us.
