"I'm Samantha," I replied finally, breaking out of my awkwardness...

If he was Tamsin's friend then definitely I'd bear with him for one conversation.

"And you're from?"

"Montana...And you?"

"West Virginia."

And the uncomfortable silence fell again as I tried to finish the remainder of my food. My heart was beating fast.

I was actually interested to know more about this guy who had taken the initiative to talk to me when I'm someone generally ignored by boys. Not beautiful, not stylish or talented in ways people like... On top of that I'm plump, not that I mind... But boys generally did.

"So," I said. "You guys had exams. She was telling me."

"Who?" he frowned.

Stupid me. How could I speak without reference? Surely he wouldn't know about my friendship with Tamsin.

"Tamsin..." I mumbled.

"Oh! Yeah... We're going for the holidays now."

"Lucky people," I commented. "We have exams in the next month."

"We're coming back by the time you go," he muttered between his eating.

"Hmm... And you're soon going to be interns."

"If I pass my current exams, only then."

"Come on, don't say that."

"Leave about me. Are you going to your clinical postings?"

Don't remind me...

"Yeah... Eight hours in the ENT ward. You guys don't do stuff we do in the clinical postings."

"Maybe," he gave that smile again.

It was genial and yet with a dash of mystery and a sprinkle of hidden humor. There was something unusually magnetic about his smile.

We talked about bits and stuff, studies and how life sucks. In a few moments... I had grown so comfortable with him.

My lunch had deliberately lost its pace cause it was as if I didn't want the conversation to end.

Finally I knew I couldn't pretend to eat anymore and so I excused myself and left to drop my plate.

Surprisingly he waved me a goodbye while I was leaving. At that time I found that gesture sweet.

And when I returned to my seat, the mysterious man was gone. I looked around and he was standing outside... Talking to his friends.

And I watched him go.

Smiling to myself I gathered my bag to leave for duties when suddenly the thought struck me.

I hadn't even asked his name.

I felt like tearing the hairs on my head. How could I be so careless? That man knew everything about me and I was so overwhelmed that I never cared to ask who he was.

I went back to the ward but couldn't concentrate on any job. I dropped the gauze pieces, pricked myself with a syringe while loading medications and was overall distracted.

My friends enquired if everything was okay and I told them about mystery man...

They gave me the look which said that Samantha is falling for someone.

I rolled my eyes but couldn't take him off my mind.

Finally I shamelessly texted Tamsin to ask his name.

Aaron.... Came the reply.

Fine... So now I knew mystery man. I flipped open Instagram and found him out. With shaking fingers, I hit the follow button and dropped my phone.

Little did I know then what was yet to come...

A/N Please read the previous part updated... I thought of using false names and the emotions were coming... I'll write with true names and later change them... So it's changed.
