Travis Stoll- Demigod

He shuffled the deck of cards again. And again. And Again. What had happened to their fairy tale ending? All of them? They had saved the world, and this is what they earn? Destruction? Chaos?

He felt broken inside. He didn't know why he was still fighting. There was nothing left of him.

It felt like just the other day they ran into the borders of camp. The two of them together. Laughing with fright, as these snake women tried to kill them. Idiots, they were. Together they were.

He shuffled the deck again.

Then they got claimed. Knowing nothing about Greek Mythology. They learned. Together. They pranked. Together. They fought back to back.

"Oh come on let's prank that new Demeter girl again." He said.

"No dude, we did that like this morning." His brother replied. "Just admitted it. You like her."

He had denied that. If he hadn't, would things be different? If he had just asked right then and there, would she be here with him? Would they be together?

He shuffled again.

He had waited to ask her out, using a series of complicated pranks. And she had even looked good covered head to toe in mayonnaise. Of Course she had slapped him when he told her that.

He almost smiled. But instead the tears came. The pain. The anger, suddenly overwhelming. He took the deck of cards and threw them as hard as he could. He could have done something! He could have saved them! He could've-He could've....

He couldn't.

He let out a painful sob. He wiped away the tears, memories and knelt down on the floor. He picked up the cards one by one.

"Hey," He didn't look up as Leo walked in. Leo looked at the cards in his hand. "Wanna play a game?"

He looked at the cards in his hand. A Game. A joke. That's what this all is. A Game, some all-powerful person is enjoying. A Joke, thinking it would be funny to watch as the mortals slowly pick off the last of these evolutionary races. He shuffled the cards, remembering where he got them.

They where Chiron's.

They had stole them. Together. He slowly felt his heart break inside him. He slammed the cards on the table shoving past Leo. He turned, to make sure no one saw his tears. Sobs racked his body. Flashes of his life flew by as he ran away. But there was a problem.

He couldn't run from himself.

He slammed against another building crying. What could he have done? What could they do? He had nothing left to stand for. He had nothing left.

"Travis, Go!" Katie screamed shoving towards the fleeing kids. " Make sure they make it!"

"I can't leave you!" He yelled back. He pulled he back. "I need you Katie! I Love you. I can't lose you!"

" I promise, I will find you!" She said "I Love you, too."  she pressed her lips on his, begging for one last kiss. But as soon as it started it was gone. Katie disappeared in the smoke and flames, before Travis could move.

"Katie!" He screamed. He run after her. He couldn't be without her.

"Travis!" Connor ran after him.

There they were again. Together. Back to Back. Brothers forever. But it was to late. Katie was gone amidst the Chaos and screams and flames. He screamed.

"Don't do this to me!"

Connor grabbed his arms pulling him towards the exit. The safe way. Travis tripped. Looking down he saw another half blood, already dead. A girl he had pranked earlier. Smoke filled his lungs. His eyes watered. His heart was broken.

Connor cried out. Something next to them exploded, raining dirt and debris on them. Connor toppled over. Travis yelled at him to get up. Connor didn't move.

"Connor!" He screamed. He kicked him. "Get up!" Desperation leaked into his voice. Connor stared unblinkingly at the ground, red trailing down the side of his face.

Travis looked up at the road leading away from camp. Percy was there yelling and motioning for him to hurry. Travis looked back at Connor.

He wanted to cry. He wanted to yell. He wanted to slam his fist into anything that could break. But he just stood there. Around him camp burned to the ground. Campers yelled. People sobbed. Guns fired. Katie was somewhere in that mess.

Suddenly there was a young boyish scream. Travis shot up seeing, one of the littlest campers running from mortals with guns. Tears streaming down his face. Fear. He didn't want to die. No one did. Travis looked at Connor. Pain and Tears falling freely.

"For Connor." He choked he took a running leap and dive tackled one of the mortals. He slammed his arm into the back of their head as hard as he could. Then he swiped the gun of the ground and shot the others. Sobbing he scooped up the terrified kid and ran after Percy.

He didn't look back as the camp went up in flames. He didn't look back went the kid in his arms whimpered and cried. He didn't look back when the distinct girl scream echoed through the woods.

He cried the whole way.

Travis slammed his fist into the brick wall again. Sobbing, crying, weeping, remembering.

The boy was with one of his older cabin mates, an Apollo kid, who thanked him so many times it didn't mean anything anymore. Travis was numb.

Why was life like this? What did they do so wrong? He couldn't see anything left fighting for. He didn't have anything left. He didn't want to be living anymore. He wanted to see Connor. He wanted them to be together again. He wanted to prank the Demeter Cabin. He wanted Katie to slap him again.

He shoved away from the wall. He hated this world. It was cruel. It took everything he had. He wondered if Connor was is Elysium. Probably smiling, with his arm around a pretty girl. Or watching him struggle. He wondered if Katie was there with him. Watching him quietly hoping he would come to her.

He felt sick. Tears rolling down his face. He had nothing. He was broken.

He slammed into someone furiously wiping tears out of his eyes. He didn't stop, too enclosed in his own misery. Too busy being lost. Too busy being broken to realize what he wanted was in front of him.

"Hey, buddy!" He heard and felt someone tug him the shoulder. He whipped around and his heart almost stopped.

"Katie?" He asked. His heart beat faster than it had ever been. Hope swelled in his chest. Her gorgeous green eyes peered back at him, recognition flashed in her eyes.

"Connor?"

Travis felt his heart crumble to pieces.
