"Bearkit, time to wake up," Dawnspirit purred as she licked the small black and brown kit. The she-kit's amber eyes were glittering with excitement as her and Dawnspirit padded out of the nursery. "I'm going to be an apprentice!" Bearkit giggled as she pounced on a falling leaf. Dawnspirit smiled at her foster kit but she couldn't make eye contact. She beckoned the little kit near a nettle patch.

"I want to be the medicine cat apprentice, Dawnspirit," Bearkit purred as she looked at Nightwhisper sunning herself outside of her den. Dawnspirit turned and looked at a black and white appreciate as she padded across the clearing ,mouth stuffed with berries, over to Nightwhisper. Bearkit sighed. "But that won't happen," she slouched over to the elders den.
Dawnspirit trotted over to Reedstar with her tail held high. She was going to get her kit the best mentor.

"You know Nightwhisper already has an apprentice, she can't have two," Snapped Reedstar as he glared at the queen. Reedstar's tail lashed on the sandy floor of his den. "She might be able to," she hissed, jumping to her paws. She turned away from her leader and out into the clearing. Before she exited his den, she turned and mewed
," Think about it Reedstar, she's a kit," and then she padded outside.
