Author's notes: The song of the day is "Malfunction" by Steam Powered Giraffe, now a warning for those with children, or those who are afraid of people in face paint this is a steampunk band who attempt to imitate robots by painting their faces, I heard "Malfunction" just yesterday and thought it was a beautiful song about people embracing their personal problems and physical problems and thought it's message was worth spreading. Sorry about the short chapter but I appear to have wrote the next couple chapters to a similar length so the next few may be short. The video and music belong to their respective owners.

                   The Man's POV
"Pearl! No!" Yelled the boy choking it out between sobs as he bent down next to Pearl who was slowly drifting into unconsciousness, eyes slowly closing as they choked out a few tears, the man sheathed his weapon, eyes softened at the sight of this child weeping, "Do you know where Rose Quartz's is?" the man asked softly, the child slowly rose to his feet, there was a different air about him, it was much darker, strangely menacing "Why did you do this?!" the boy yelled anger dripping from his voice as he grabbed Pearl's sword running at the man, swinging wildly, surprised by the boy's sudden ferocity, he sidestepped the boy's downward slash, and jumped back as the boy prepared a horizontal slash, noticing this the boy just dropped the sword by his feet, much to my confusion, the boy let his head hang low staring down at the ground, assuming he accepted defeat my guard was lowered until the boy started mumbling something, once more confusing me, till a faint pink light started glowing from the kid's belly, noticing this I reached for my sword once more bringing it up just in time to block a shield spinning in such a way it's sharp edge appeared like a circular saw, the force behind this attack was enough force to push me back a couple feet, with a great deal of strength I flung the shield away from me, it landed in the sand, a few feet away from us.
