Author's notes: You don't know how happy I am when writing those two words "Author notes" for the longest time I wished to talk to a audience who would comment and give me criticism to build off of, so I may truly grow as a writer in heeding the words of the masses, so I ask those who read this to leave a comment.

“Oh! Um...sorry Connie.” the two said in unison, each blushing faintly in embarrassment forgetting their argument Greg got off his seat walking past Connie, an awkward silence filled the air, disturbed by this sudden silence Greg said “let's go Connie, you don't want to miss school do you?” interrupting the silence, Connie's eyes went huge imagining her mother reaction to a tardy on her report card, Connie hastily ran to the door “Thank you for the breakfast, Ms. Pearl!” Connie yelled before running out the door after Greg, as Connie ran down to Greg's van she heard Pearl yelling “Goodbye!” from the deck, looking back she waved, also yelling “Goodbye!” Connie jumped into the passenger seat, as Greg turned the key in the ignition, firing up the engine, a soft purr filled the air as they made their way down the road

A few minutes later

“You know, I'm surprised your parents let you sleep over last night.” Greg said trying to make idle chit chat “I'm surprised too they usually don't let me go anywhere, especially on school nights.” Connie said thinking of how different her parents been acting lately “So Mr. Universe, may I ask you a question?” this got Greg's attention “What is it, Connie.” Greg asked with a confused look on his face “Why doesn't Steven go to school?” Connie asked mimicking Greg's confused expression, Greg just sighed “it's a long story, let's just say the gems didn't want him going to school, saying his gem powers could be dangerous, I argued with Pearl many times over his education, she acted like his teacher for his early years, but back then Steven was smarter than most kids his age.” Greg said as he took quick glances out his window looking for that old man he saw earlier “What's wrong, Mr. Universe?” Connie asked noticing him taking quick glances out his window “Oh! Nothing, nothing!” Greg said bringing his attention back to Connie “I'm happy Steven finally has a friend his age.” Greg thought to himself remembering all the times he'd go to the house to see Steven sitting there sad and lonely, waiting for the gems to come back from one of their missions.
