Does anyone understand what the title is referencing? It's kinda obscure in this day and age lol. And per the usual, the picture does not belong to me

Kyoyo was in love.

At least, she thought so.

She kept bringing up a picture of Eli in her mind, making it conjure up the butterfly feeling in her stomach. She thought about him as she cleaned, as she ate, and even as she wandered over to the coffee shop to see if Kana had come back. She had been thinking about the memory she had seen last night and had come to the conclusion that Eli was in trouble. The letter was, she believed, a message from his old girlfriend, who had treated him horribly yet wanted him back for some reason. Kyoyo convinced herself that this was fact and made up her mind to finish last night's job. There was only one thing left to do:

Erase the memory from Eli's mind.

She had learned the art of memory erasure from the Timekeeper only a few years ago and hadn't perfected it yet, meaning that people could remember more easily.

The job was simple. Get the Thread, take it to whomever you stole the memory from, attach one end to the object (In this case the letter), and lower the other end into the person's ear. Then carefully pull it out, catch the memory dangling from it like a fish on a pole, and attach the memory to the object. Finally, leave the Recall Shop's business card so that they may buy their memory back if they so desire. Simple.

As soon as night fell, Kyoyo pulled up her cowl and headed back to the Mayple Apartments.

She snuck in, just as last time, and crept down the hallway to Eli's room. The door was shut, so the opening and going in was painstakingly slow and tedious. She tiptoed carefully into the room, eyes only on Eli...

And she tripped.

"What the heck?!"

There was somebody else in the room.

The beam of a flashlight blinded Kyoyo for a second. She covered her face hurriedly, but it was too late.

"Yo-Chan??"

'Wait, what?!' Kyoyo pushed away the flashlight and stared at the person holding it.

"Kana?"

"What are you doing here?!" Kana gasped.

"N-Nothing. What are you doing here?!"

"I'm staying the night with my friend. Yo-Chan, I feel like you being here is a lot more important than me being here. So, what's going on?"

Kyoyo was stuck and out of options. She leaned forward and hugged Kana.

Kana gasped in shock. "I- Wha- Yo-"

Kyoyo didn't say anything as she connected the Thread to Kana's flashlight, then slid it gently into his ear. "I'm sorry." She whispered. Then, while Kana was still in a daze, she slipped out of the room and into the night.

Kyoyo is getting herself in trouble, huh? Man. Thanks for reading, and as always, comment if you have anything to say!! 🤓
