Chapter 6

"I don't get it," Annabeth repeats running possibilities through her head.

"What's not to get?" Mr. D grunts. "He betrayed us before. Why wouldn't he do it again?"

"No he wouldn't," Thalia snaps, shooting to her feet her chair collapsing to the floor behind her.

The counselors (minus Percy) had gathered for a meeting after the Luke fiasco. Luke currently resides in the infirmary unconscious.

"Please Ms. Grace," Chiron says attempting to calm the girl. Thalia clenches and unclenches her fists before she retrieves her seat and sitting back down.

"I don't think it's as simple as it seems," Will comments and eyes turn to him. "He showed no pain. He had an arrow to each leg but, didn't seem register what was going on."

Annabeth nods. "He just kept moving like he was being controlled."

"You can control people?" Travis asks a small smile on his face. Connor mirrored his expression both clearly more interested in possibility of controlling people for pranks rather than their half-brother's well being.

Across the table Katie resists the urge to grab Clovis's pillow and chuck it at the Travis- the duo.

"So who was controlling him then?" Annabeth continues. "And why?"

"What will the gods do?" Thalia asks. "They were planning on killing him and all of the Returned..."

"They wouldn't still kill them right?" Piper asks. Her question goes unanswered.

"Where's Prissy?" Clarisse asks. "What, the Princess thinks he's too good to come to a meeting?"

"He's home. Something's happening with his family. He won't say what," Nico answers.

Chiron can't help but frown a bit.

"We got a new Re!" A voice shouts from outside.

"Let's wait until Mr. Castellan wakes. Then, I will speak with the gods," Chiron announces. "You should all go see who the new Returned is."

All nod having no other choice and walk out. They notice a single demigod weapon drawn pointing his sword to a group of campers.

Heading forward they are able to make out a few details. Black hair, and an eye patch over his left eye.

"Nakamura!" Shouts a voice. He freezes and the crowd parts as Chris appears in the masses. He hurries up to Ethan trying to explain what is going on. Silena soon goes to help.

While all this happening Grover heads to Chiron.

"Something is wrong," Grover says. "I can feel it through the link."

"And?" Chiron questions.

"It's nothing for sure but I could always feel the same thing when it had to do with his stepfather. I feel that now."

Chiron nods. "Go."

When Luke opens his eyes he immediately cries out in pain.

"You're awake," a voice comments.

Luke shifts so he can see Thalia sitting in a seat near his bed. He glances around finding himself in the infirmary
and frowns. "How did I get here? Weren't we getting food?"

Thalia shakes her head. "That was earlier. You don't remember?"

"We were on our way to get lunch... and now I can't move my legs."

Thalia shakes her head and sighs. "I'll go get Chiron he wants to speak with you."

Luke doesn't get to ask why as his girlfriend leaves. She is soon replaced by an Apollo girl who shoves so nectar down his throat and then begins to change the bandages on his legs.

"What happened to my legs?" He asks as she undoes the wrapping.

She meet his eyes briefly with a glare. "I'm a daughter of Apollo. I'm not just a medic."

Luke's eyes widen and he says nothing else.

A few minutes later she leaves and Thalia returns Chiron in tow.

"So what happened?" Luke asks.

Chiron sighs. "Well..."

"You know this wasn't what I meant when I asked you to do the dishes," Sally says a smile on her lips.

Percy shrugs with a smile as he looks at the dishes which are currently semi cleaning themselves.

"He still knocked out?" Percy asks.

"He woke up for a moment I took care of it," Sally says sitting at the table with her son. Percy can't help but laugh a bit.

As she does the doorbell rings. She stands to get it motioning to the dishes and Percy rolls his eyes and stands heading over to the sink.

Sally nods satisfied as she heads for the door. She opens it unsung Grover on the other side. He smiles weakly and Sally lets him in.

"Long time no see," she says giving the saytr a hug. "I have cookies in the oven."

Grover responds with a surprised bleat as he sees the large lump of a man in the room.

Percy emerges from the kitchen. "Hey G-Man!"

"Hi?" Grover asks confused still staring.

"What are you doing here?"

"I could tell something was wrong. I can see what it is now."

"Yeah..."

They all head back into the kitchen.

"So... what are you going to do with him?" Grover asks.

"I suggested we-"

"No Percy," Sally sighs. "And to answer your question Grover, I would like to go to the police but they will question where he's been all these years. I can't exactly say I turned him to stone."

"How did he even get here?"

"Well demigods just appear at camp. He just appeared here," Percy answers. "Ooh, can we just leave him in the middle of no where? Or Nico can bring him back to the underworld."

Sally ignores her son looking back to Grover. "Something else is bothering you."

Grover nods. "Luke went crazy today."

"What?" Percy's asks.

"He just attacked. Apollo campers put an arrow in each of his legs but he didn't seem to notice. Annabeth thinks he was being controlled."

"Controlled?"

"Go," Sally says. "They need you at camp."

"But what about him?"

"I can take care of him if you wish," says a new voice. The three turn to see Poseidon standing in the kitchen doorway."

"Hey Dad," Percy greets.

"Poseidon," Sally smiles slightly. "Might I ask what you are doing here?"

Poseidon shifts a bit awkwardly. "I was not able to interfere before but, rules are a bit different now, especially with the dead coming back. I think the least I can do is take him away. And Hades owes me a favor anyway."

Sally doesn't reply as the timer goes off.

"Cookies?" Three voices ask.

Sally gives a smile.

"The trial went nicely Mother."

"Good. Then it's time for the next step."
