Quick A/note: This picture is not a picture that I own, it is an idea of what Somers would look like and I was so surprised because this was exactly how I pictured him. Thanks to a friend finding it for me, enjoy!

Back to Ronin's pov.

Ambros still acted weird around Somers. I knew he was gonna do this again. I climbed carefully out the window, making sure my sheath doesn't get me awkwardly trapped.

"Ambros, what was the status of your watch?" I questioned from the top of the balcony to the fire exit of the windows.

"Three townspeople were carried away this morning. Five minutes before you two woke up, Commander Ronin." I acknowledged what he told me.

The boys took the difficult way down. I sighed when they stared at me for a moment. I wasn't feeling like climbing down. I saw the rusted latch of the fire ladder that was warped. There was no way I was going to get that open with my hands. I took out my blade. Small electricity escaped the sides of the blade. I swung the blade with two hands and the metal was slit in half, like paper. A loud racket came from the ladder that took a fall. I placed the blade back in the sheath and started to climb down.

I reached the ground perfectly. We started to go deeper into the alley way. I kept my handgun in my right hand at all times. I suddenly smelled burning metal. There must have been a crash this evening.

When we rounded the corner of the empty alleyway, I saw a rusted vehicle that was cooking in the flames. There was a knocked over chain fence that leaned on the vehicle.

"Somers you look like hell, you okay?" Ambros questioned Somers. I kept my alert up while we made our way to the Flood Canals.

"I feel better than I look." There was a sudden smash sound that the two missed. I started to walk slower. The road was cut off so I took the next turn. There was a bridge over top of the Flood Canal.

There were a lot of power lines, indicating we were getting close.

"I am sorry man that we left you behind, we didn't know." Ambros says humbly.

"It'll be alright, man. Changes are on the way." I was confused what Somers meant by changes. I slowly made my way towards the bridge and jumped down. There was a lot of sound that caught my attention. There were three Xenos soldiers waiting for me, as if they had planned it.

My arm started to sting again when I started to take them out. Somers and Grayson did the same. Making sure they left holes in all of the Xenos. Three of them were down in seconds.

Something flooded my mind of curiosity. How did they know we were here?

The Flood Canal was enough to keep us off the streets. There was a car alarm that went off and some screaming. We went under an overpass that was connected to the Flood Canals. Then we took a left. There was this odd screeching sound that was heard. I spotted two of the Xenos soldiers above us. Twelve'o'clock a bit far from us. Risky, strategic, and could get any of us killed.

We had to be silent, quick, and precise with our shots. I held my fist up, arm bent a bit. That told them to halt for a moment.

I pointed where I spotted the two Xenos soldiers. I put my hand out behind me. Ambros noticed the action and passed me his gun. I looked through the night vision scope, seeing two green figures up where the road was. Around twenty feet up. I angled the gun on the corner, turned my whole body sideways, head turned.

Slow breaths, I didn't want to screw up the shot. I pulled the trigger when one of the Xenos went in front of the other, both heads aligning perfectly. I didn't have to waste a second bullet. A loud sound escaped the chamber of the gun. Following the sound, brass escaped the chamber. Both of the Xenos fell onto the ground.

"You're still on fire, Ronin." Ambros complimented me. I passed his gun back to him.

"Clear." I whispered. I started to walk ahead of them once again. There was huge blocked off Flood Canal tunnels underneath, where the road was. The road was above the tunnels. We took a turn. There were schooling fences along the road, pipes over our heads. Suddenly gunshots started to go off. I quickly took cover behind a road block. I never exactly got this close of a look at the Xenos soldiers. They wore a plain white helmet over top of their faces. Three white quills stood out of the back of their neck, upwards.

It was about to round the corner of the road block, Somers took the shot. We didn't agree to the move. At least I didn't have to worry about the Xenos. Gunshots started to go off once again, this seemed like an ambush. I took out a handgun and slid the slider back. Then popped my head up every so often to shoot. One stood on a pipe, and two stood on the overpass. The blade on my hip started to slightly glow, it reminded me of Frodo Baggins. Everything suddenly started to slow down, the drops of the rain froze in time. Even the continuous thunder. Bullets went in slow motion back and forth. I pulled the blade out and slowly stood up, it seemed like I could only move.

I reflected two of the bullets at the overpass, then I used the tip of my blade to bump the bullet that was going to miss the Xenos soldier. Reality went back to normal after the fifth thunder strike. The bullet successfully hit the Xenos and then the area was clear. It was a clear shot and the risk was worth taking.

I confidently motioned them that it was clear. I regret not bringing a bullet proof vest. I couldn't wait until this would end. We had so much to finish. This was even going to the point of saving Humanity from extinction.

The truth I wanted to find out was: what am I going to do after all of this? I had no one to go home to. My home was taken by the bank, it wasn't like I could fight with Echo Squad forever.

I wanted another life outside violence, I didn't want to be always focused on survival or worry.

We only fight because this is our job. We don't know if we are going to see tomorrow. It didn't matter to me, I wanted my family back. More than anything, but yet again, I cared about Somers, Ambros, and Grayson. They were like a family that I never had until now.

"Ronin, you have been awfully quiet. Is anything the matter?" Ambros questioned, catching up to me alongside Somers.

"What are you going to do after this is all over, Ambros?" I questioned.

"Probably get some sleep when I get back. Have a campfire in the backyard with my kids and wife. What about you?" Ambros questions.

I felt my stomach turn. "I am unsure if I'll forever remain and fight alongside Echo Squad. My intentions are to find out what I want in life. My family was murdered in cold blood. This is why I joined Echo Squad. What about you Somers?" I questioned turning my head away from Ambros as I walked to Somers.

"I'm probably going to retire from Echo Squad for a while. Do some travelling, find a beautiful girl, get married, have kids. I want a life outside of violence, but I'll still keep in contact with you guys." Somers answered. I didn't know how to react to what he said. But I was prepared for disappointment. Did I like Somers more than I intended to?

I chuckled then spoke. "Sounds like you have made up your mind on that list." Ambros laughed to the smirk that was plastered on my face. I hid the emotion that was weld up inside my chest.

The flood channel ended where there was a small ramp that we could go up. We all made our way up the small ramp. There was a stone wall that indicated we were getting close. This must have been a neighbourhood that led us to the drive-in movie theatre that was located outside of town. We still had a long way to go.

There was a very silent squeaking sound from the metal gate. It swung ever so slowly back and forth. We proceeded to make our way through the fence. It leads down a tight route to the neighbourhood. This must have been the other way to get through. Taking the other routes through the streets would be too strategic.

A loud sound of chopper blades interrupted my thoughts.

"You have to lay low for a bit, they are searching for you, Ronin."

"What do you mean?" I questioned in a confused voice. He crossed his arms.

"Three years ago, the crystal responded when I touched it. The Government and the Xenos have been searching for that blade." He pointed to the blade that was held on the belt of my hip.

"Why do they need it so badly?"

"That blade is able to manipulate time. I thought I wasn't originally paying attention, I was convinced it was just a normal Katana. But, judging by its size and how you were able to move the bullet that I shot at the Xenos. If they get their hands on that blade, they can easily get rid of the Human race. That blade was owned by an ancient being that managed to keep the virus within the bunker of Iraq. I did a bit of research while I was locked up in an underground Mental Hospital. The words on the sword says a new Ronin will rise and finish what was never finished. The creature must of referred to you." Ambros widened his eyes, like a deer caught in headlights.

"I fucken new it and I was stupid to judge you when you arrived. So, what is going to happen now? How do we get rid of them because they are going to kill her or even us."

"Not necessarily, they need someone to lead. Only the ones who are immune to the virus."

"How do we know your not infected?" Somers rolled his eyes to Ambros's question remarking the virus.

"I don't have glowing veins like Ronin. She is the one who is the only living thing immune to it." Somers responded to Ambros's question.

"But, if they are collecting Humans, then why are they showing up nearly anywhere we go?"

"It would make sense if there was one more person that was immune to the virus. But, only the ones who were near the crystal."

"I can assure you it is not me, what about Piers?"

"He is dead, Ambros." Somers said coldly, it seemed like he hated Commander Peirs.

"Why do you hate Peirs so much, Somers?" Ambros questioned Somers.

"It's a long story."

"I have all the time in the world to hear this."

"Ever since Ronin joined Echo Squad, he only looked at her like a piece of meat. He lost my respect the day we were nearly crushed by concrete. He blamed her for closing the doors, she was clearly injured, she wasn't able to reach the key-pad to the door." I felt like that wasn't the whole story to begin with. But, I believed Somers any day over Peirs.
