AN: Yes, I've decided to add music to the start of my chapters.

Y/N had arrived back at Hyrule castle during the night, the blood moon brighter than ever and calamity flakes rising like ashes. Revali and Mipha had taken Midna through the back door, the King wouldn't be pleased to see an 'imp' entering his castle.

It was a lonely, and rather scary walk through the castle courtyard. The glow of the blood moon had caused all shadows to elongate, as if they were reaching for Y/N with their sharp claws. The astronomer kept turning around, feeling as if she was being watched.

She turned her head back and gasped in fright.

Link.

He was right in front of her, how did she not hear him arrive? Never mind that- why was he so close? Their noses were practically touching. Trying to cool down the heat creeping up her cheeks, Y/N backed away and coughed awkwardly. Link too, hurried back, shifting his feet. There was a faint red glow on his ears.

"Uh..." Y/N inwardly cringed "What are you doing here, Link?" her voice was unnaturally high. Link glanced at the castle door and looked back at her again, Y/N guessed they were playing charades now "You want to walk me back?" she asked, Link gave her a curt nod.

"Oh. Thank you, that's very... thoughtful."

They resumed walking in an awkward silence. Y/N noticed the master sword on Links back and stifled a laugh. Did he think he'd be attacked in the middle of the castle? That was fully guarded?

Trying to break the silence, Y/N looked at him "Uh, we talked to Midna..." Link's pointy ear pricked, he was listening although he stared straight ahead. Y/N sucked in a breath through her teeth "Midna said that we have to take the artifact from the Calamity's hands before the blood moon starts appearing during the day... when I told her about you, she got really quiet and wouldn't tell me anything."

SNAP!

Y/N whipped her head around as fast as she could, Link clutched at his sword. A blur of red, demonic chuckles. Through the corner of her eye, Y/N could see red papers with mysterious markings, The mark of the Yiga.

"HAHAHA!" Y/N heard a bow being drawn along with a laugh, she turned around quickly, just in time to see a yiga foot soldier. "Link!" she pulled him by the wrist just as the arrows shot through the air, it pinged on the cobble street where they had just been before, and fell.

In a puff of smoke the footsoldier disappeared, but Y/N knew that he was just preparing a sneak attack. Link fell in next to her, his back to hers, surveying the scene. Y/N bent down to pick up a stick on the ground, maybe Link wasn't stupid for carrying a sword after all...

"BEWARE THE EYE OF THE YIGA!"

In the second that Y/N had bent down, the yiga had appeared behind her, he had punched Link. She could hear the sickening crack of Link's bones at the moment of impact, she reared back and slammed the stick on the soldier's head. His mask cracked, and he disappeared once again.

After the impact, Link had fallen backwards. His forehead was bruised and the back of his head had collided with a sharp rock. His throbbing pain ebbed harder and harder, turning into something more painful... his vision was glitching.

He'd see fire... and then blood... and then yellow eyes...

Y/N looked at Link, kneeling down next to him. He looked distracted, very distracted. His eyes were vague, as if looking at something in the distance, but there was a horrific melancholy look to them, as if he had seen death itself.

"Link? Are you alright?" Y/N asked, starting to move his hair out of his forehead, where he had gotten hit. Link slapped her hand away, a new aggression present in his actions. He looked at her with such hatred, Y/N did a double take. But before she could do anything a new problem arose.

"Oh, Y/N!" Zelda cried from the stairs leading up to the castle, barely two meters away from them "What do I do? I need to have Wisdom- not power!" Zelda flopped down on the stone steps, oblivious to what had just transpired.

Y/N reaches over pats her friend's back "Maybe it's a mistake..?" The princess scoffs "Hylia makes no mistakes!" Zelda bursts out.

"Who could've ended up with Wisdom...?" Zelda muses. Y/N taps the princess lightly and points to Link, who is eerily swaying in the corner. "Remember when he fixed the guardian? Purah told me he did yesterday," Y/N whispers, Zelda looks at her in horror.

"Link?" Zelda addresses the knight "LINK!" she yells when he doesn't respond. Link jerks and looks at them, his head tilted. Seeing the absent look on his face, Y/N asks "Link, are you okay?" she touches his shoulder, he flinches back into reality.

Link opens his mouth, he hesitates.

"I... Rem-...remember..."
