The next day at school, kids kept side-eyeing me, making it very difficult to sneak holy water in Mrs. Roth's coffee mug, although I managed.

Justin was back at school, his reports of a broken nose obviously exaggerated. He sent me dirty looks, but I ignored it in favor of my music. It was a mix of new age pop and old school rock.

I sat in the courtyard while I waited for Dean to come pick me up, a sketchbook in hand and music in my ears, listening to who we are by Imagine Dragons. When Cas heard the band name he was concerned I was being influenced by actual dragons.

My bike privileges had been revoked for making Sam have to deal with sue happy parents.

Carefully dragging my pencil across the page, I shaded the flower I was drawing. "That's cool"

Looking up, I realized it was the boy from my first day of school, Ethan, I think, was leaning against my tree, watching over my shoulder.

"Uh yeah" I fought the blush that began to form on my cheeks "just kind of doodling"

He nodded "want to come to a party tonight?"

I almost laughed, The Winchesters and Cas barely let me out of the bunker for school, they'd never let me go. "My family is really protective, they might not let me"

"Sneak out" Ethan suggested.

Last time I tried to sneak out, I was met with two grumpy Winchesters and a suspicious angel.

"I'll try, where is it?" I questioned, keeping an eye on incoming traffic so I could watch for Dean.

"Down the street and to the left, the house is at the edge of town" he gestured where to go, and I made a mental note. "At eight"

The rumble of the Impala drew both our attention, while Ethan gave an appreciative hum, I simply sighed. Hopefully Dean wouldn't make a big deal about seeing a member of the male species within my general vicinity.

I didn't want Cas to smite him, which could very well happen. Standing, I shoved my sketchbook and earbuds into my bag. "I'll think about it" I promised before walking toward the classic car.

"Who was that?" Dean asked as soon as I sat down, shutting the door behind me and dropping my bag on the car floor.

"It was no one, just a kid who saw me drawing" I shrugged it off as best as I could. For the moment, Dean seemed to buy the lie, and I didn't question it.

"How was school kiddo?"

"Fine" I leaned my head against the head rest of the seat. "Tested Mrs. Roth, she's clean, and Justin was in class today, so his nose wasn't even broken, but man did it feel good to punch him in the face"

Dean smirked "that's my girl"

"Whatever" I hid my smile by looking out the window.

"Listen" Dean's voice grew serious, and I turned back to face him. "Sammy and I have a hunt, we need to leave as soon as we get home, you good with being there by yourself?"

I nodded, trying my best to not seem too eager. "If I need help, I can call Cas"

Dean nodded "Sammy and I will only be a few hours out, so if need be we can haul as- butt here"

"Why do you do that?" I wondered aloud.

"Do what?" He glanced at my out of the corner of his eye.

"I've seen it I with Sam too, you guys'll start a curse word and then abruptly change it to a substitute word." I watched the older Winchester expectantly.

When he didn't answer, I huffed, leaning my head against the window. The bunker came into view moments later, the silence that had settled only broken by the sounds the car made.

"Hey" Sam greeted as we entered the library. He had his duffle bag slung over his shoulder, ready to leave "we'll be back soon, Cas should check in on you later"

"It's a simple salt and burn, should be back by tomorrow" Dean nodded at himself and Sam, picking up his own duffle that'd been resting on the table. "If we happen to not be back, assume you're not going to school until we are"

"Why can't I just come with you?" I crossed my arms. "You said it was just a salt and burn"

The brothers exchanged looks. "There's been some demonic activity near where we're going, so we're gonna look into it, you need to stay here where you're safe"

Sighing, I nodded in acceptance, showing defeat for now. Hopefully my dad coming to check on me would happen quickly so I can go to the party later tonight.

The Winchesters said their goodbyes before heading out on a hunt, the bunker was now a deathly quiet, you could hear a pin drop.

Hours later, just before eight, Cas appeared, his wings folding against his back. "Hello Andy"

"Hi Cas" I greeted, putting the lore book I'd been reading on the couch beside me. "Why won't you let me hunt? I've asked Dean and he only tells me that he doesn't want to make you mad"

"We are just trying to protect you" Cas replied quietly.

"I'm a hunter too" I reminded him, pushing myself up into a sitting position "I want to hunt"

"But Lucifer-"

"I've had people after me my entire life Cas!" I cut him off, taking a deep calming breath. "I was taught by my mom how to be safe long before I ever met you guys"

"How are your studies at school?" He avoided answering, his head tilting slightly in curiosity.

"Don't try to change the subject Cas, why won't you let me hunt?" Standing from the couch, I crossed my arms as I repeated my question.

With a movement so fast, it barely registered, Castiel was gone. The sound of feathers drifting through the silence.

Glancing at the clock, I realized I was already half an hour late to the party, but if I took my bike, I'd be there in minutes.
