"Cedarpaw, wake up!" Cedarpaw blinked the sleep from her eyes. She saw the pure white pelt of her mentor in front of her.
     "Sorry Echostream."
"It's fine, but you have to get used to waking up early. You're not a kit anymore."
Cedarpaw had realized that trying to fall asleep. She shivered tho whole night. It was the first time she had slept without anyone right beside her. She wished for her mother's warm pelt against her own.
Cedarpaw walked out of the den, her eyes getting used to the light of the sunrise.
"Come," Said Echostream. "We're meeting up with Berrybush, Frostclaw, Runningfox, and Rosewhisper.
"I thought we were going on a patrol with Leaffall and Lilacpaw," remarked Cedarpaw.
"No, they decided to practice battle moves instead." Replied Echostream simply.
"Do you mind if I join you?" Cedarpaw jumped at the sound of the deputy's voice.
     "Of course, Smashfire," smiled Echostream.
Cedarpaw felt her eyes go big as the lake itself. Her first time out of camp, and the Riverclan deputy was coming with her!
Smashfire was a huge grey tabby she-cat. Cedarpaw had to tilt her head back to see her flaming orange eyes.
"Let's get going," Said Echostream. "We have a lot to show you today."
They found Berrybush, Frostclaw, Runningfox, and Rosewhisper ready to go. They looked surprised that Smashfire was with them, but didn't say anything.
"You guys go ahead," Said Cedarpaw's mentor. "I'm going to show Cedarpaw the territory. We may or may not catch up with you."
The white warrior brought Cedarpaw to a large nest made of wood. Big creatures roamed around the nest.
"This is the Horseplace," explained Echostream. "This is our boundary with Windclan. Those big creatures stomping around are horses. They don't leave the Twoleg nest. But they can crush a cat if they tried."
Cedarpaw tried to keep up with all of the information. "What is that awful smell?" She asked suddenly.
     "That's Windclan's scent border."
"Why do they smell like rabbits?"
"Because that's their main source of prey." Answered Echostream. "They eat rabbits and lapwings, Thunderclan eats mice and voles, Shadowclan eats lizards and mice, and we eat fish and water shrews."
     "Oh okay."
"And you see that island over there?" Asked Echostream. "That's where all four clans gather for the Gathering."
Echostream continued to show Cedarpaw the territory. They went to Shadowclan's border lay. There, it smelled of pine sap. By the time Echostream finished showing Cedarpaw the territory, the sun was setting and the clan was sharing tongues.
"You can pick your prey tonight, you've earned it." Said Echostream. As Cedarpaw approched the fresh-kill pile, she was tackled by her sister.
"Skypaw! I feel I haven't seen you in moons!"
"I know!" cried Skypaw. "Do you want to share prey with me? You don't if you don't want to."
"Don't be a mouse-brain, of course I want to share with you!" Skypaw looked relieved. Cedarpaw grabbed a large fish for the two of them.
"So what has Willowfly been teaching you?" Asked Cedarpaw to her sister
"She and Spiketail have been teaching me all of the herbs and remedies for all sicknesses and injuries. I'm so lucky to have two mentors. They both have different experience and it helps me learn more! So far I've learned about catmint, cobwebs, marigold, and poppy seeds!"
"Oh wow," amazed Cedarpaw. "I've only been taught how to get rid of ticks and where the territory boundaries are."
"You'll get to it, don't worry Cedarpaw."
     "Thanks Skypaw."
"Oh, I heard that Nightkit misses you," giggled Skypaw.
     "What? No!" laughed Cedarpaw.
"Alright then," said Skypaw in disbalief. Her sister rolled her eyes. The two brown apprentices laughed and continued to talk and eat.
-------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, Cedarpaw found it easier to wake up earlier. She was walking to the fresh-kill pile when Echostream stopped her.
"No fresh-kill for you until you hunt a bit."
