I gasped and my mouth hung open slightly. The tall windows let in the filtered light from the canopy. The dark wood furniture was smooth as I placed a paw on them. No.I had to experience this moment as a human. I shifted back and stood up on my feet, I was a little shaky, but not to bad.

Carter shifted as well, this would be the first time I saw him as a human. The being that stood before me was tall with dirty blond and brown hair and the same chocolate eyes. He smiled and looked around the room.

"No to bad," He complimented and ran a hand over the wood shelves by the door for holding gear.

I touched the soft moss cushions on the couch and sighed at how soft they were. The kitchen was magnificent, I had a sink, refrigerator and everything.

I ran my hand along the mahogany stair railing as I explored the upstairs. The central room was a circular sun room with huge yellow tinted windows. A few couches and a table sat in the middle. There were carvings on the wall of a tiger with beams of light surrounding it in it's home in the clouds. Also, there was a reappearance of the same symbol, it was in color as well. The base was a pure white circle with a gray star shape in the center, reaching the circle's edges. In the large gray star was a smaller yellow star in the center. Around the circle were four yellow lines, one on the upper left, upper right, lower right, and lower left.

"What's this?" I asked Carter who was inspecting some of the carvings.

He walked over and peered at what I was looking at.

"That's the symbol of Light," He explained, "This house was made for Light's heir not to long ago when the prophets realized that you would be coming in the future. That's why it's huge and lets in a lot of light, so Darkness's followers couldn't get in through the shadows, most homes have lots of windows in the first place. Most believe having Light's symbol will keep out the evil."

I nodded. This was the mark of my family, the blood of Light ran through my veins, and I was honored.

I shook my head to clear my mind as we went to see the two guest rooms, bathrooms, and finally the biggest master bedroom I have ever seen, my room.

I pushed open the door marked with Light's symbol and gasped.  A huge bed was on the far end with white sheets, yes actual sheets! The fabric was soft and welcoming, they must really believe I can beat Jay. I can't let them down, not after all this, after all these people, my people, have done for me.

Once again, there were tall windows, except these weren't tinted. I had a mirror and master bathroom, a huge closet, some book shelves and other shelves and dressers, it was beautiful.

I sat on the corner of my bed and looked at the floor, Carter stood about six feet in front of me, "I can't let our people down, not after all they have done for me, I need to learn more about Jay, to come up with a plan on how I can defeat him."

Carter cleared his throat, "We."

I looked up at him, "We?"

"Me too of course," He stated.

I stood up, "Carter no, if my future plan fails, you could die, I could die, it's a risk only I can take.

Carter took a step forward and shook his head, "We won't be alone. We can add to the team, you can be our leader, and we will defeat Jay."

"But who would willingly give up their lives to defeat an almost unstoppable enemy?" I pointed out, no one that's who.

"You'd be surprised, these people believe strongly in freedom, and in you, they will be more than willing," Carter told me as we walked down the stairs and went to the front door.

"Where do we start?" I asked as we shifted back to our primaries and started to walk to the fountain.

Carter looked as though he considered what I was saying, "I may know someone who could help if she will agree."

We walked next to my house to Carter's house and he opened the door.

"Carter?" A voice asked from inside and a girl with brown hair and blue eyes was sitting on the couch.

She turned and looked at us. Mainly me, she stared at me. I didn't say anything, thinking I wanted to have a good first impression.

"Hey Abby, this is one of my new friends," Carter told the girl on the couch, who was in her human form.

She stood up and walked over as we switched back to humans.

"Hi! I'm Katie Lux, nice to meet you," I told her and smiled, she was a little hesitant to shake my hand, but she accepted.

"I'm Abby Reeve, Carter's younger sister, I'm 13," She told me and smiled back.

Carter shifted back to his leopard form, he seemed to be signaling me to turn into my primary. I changed as well.

"The white tiger has arrived," Abby said with shock as she turned into, what I guessed, was her primary form, a small jaguar.

I quickly showed her my black panther mode as well, she showed me hers too. A really cool hyacinth macaw, you know, the blue ones with a bit of yellow by their black beaks.

We switched back to our primaries.

Carter explained the situation and Abby nodded,

"I'd be more than happy to come with you," Abby said with confidence and dug her claws into the floor.

Carter shot me a 'I told you so' glance and I glared back at him witch cracked a small smile cat on his face.

"Great! I think I know someone else as well," I said and started to run to my aunt's house.

I burst in and let Abby and Carter in behind me.

"Luke!' I yelled and Luke flew down the stairs.

"What do you need Katie, I was just about to take a nap," He whined.

"You are coming with us, Carter would you please explain, you'd do way better than I could," I turned to Carter and he nodded.

Carter explained to my brother, who was thoroughly shocked. He nodded.

"All right,I'll come, it's not like I have any thing to loose," He sighed.

I noticed his yes kept drifting to Abby, see her reaction. I squealed on the inside. How cute! I know, I was being that one friend or sibling.

"Well now we have to catch up on some research about Jay," I sighed.
