Apparently, and thankfully there was a library at the Rain forest Beacon. It was huge! Once again, tall windows and dark wood, a great trend here. When you first walk in the door, there is a desk. A sloth was sitting in a chair, reading a book.We were all in our animal modes.

"Excuse me, could you tell me where the mythology or history section is?" I asked and she looked up at me.

She sighed and turned to point behind her.

"Over there,"She said with annoyance and went back to her book.

"Thanks," I said awkwardly and walked to where she had pointed.

When we got to the section, Carter nudged me with his shoulder.

"The book keeper, or as you call them, librarian, is always like that. Trust me, no one knows why she's still here," Carter told me.

W switched to our human forms first.

Everyone started to scan the shelves for book that could potentially give us some valuable information.

I remember my first trip to the library all those years ago, my first introduction to books and my first introduction to a new world, a world where my mind could go free and wander, where I became a part of the story, where I could make a difference. In fact, it was sort of like my life right now.

"Aha!" Abby said with triumph and she pulled a book off the shelf.

She flipped through the first few pages then sighed and closed it sending a large amount of dust particles into the room.

"Never mind," she said and went back to searching.

I read a few of the titles like 'herbs of the past and future'. 'Humans and shifters'. No. 'Myths of today'. Hmmm. Sounded promising.

I placed my fingers over the rough leather cover and the gold seams. The book was new, probably never read. Or old yet still never read.

I opened up to the first page which was conveniently the table of contents. The book was in weird markings. Idiot! The shifters probably had their own language! So if a human stumbled across and old artifact they wouldn't find the secret civilization. Light help me. Suddenly, before my eyes, the letters started to shift and plain English was written on the papers. Your welcome. The words were imprinted in my mind, it felt like they were placed by a higher being, Light? Hello? I waited a second, no response. Maybe it was only in a time of dire need. I guess that really expanded the urgency of this research.

"Wait, how can you read that?" Carter asked as he peered over my shoulder.

"Light. I see the letters in English. Shifters may talk in English but I guess it makes sense for us to have a different written language," I replied and took the book to one of the desks.

I pulled out one of the chairs and sat myself down. Everyone else crowded around me. Carter was staring at the book over my shoulder, I could feel his breath on my shoulder. Abby and Luke were in front of me, reading the book upside down.

"It says here the Jay comes from a family of Darkness descendants, legend says if you have full god like blood, your powers are stronger, and your god like influence," I read out loud.

"Ewww! Does that mean the some do the people who got married were related?!" Luke said with disgust.

"No bird brain! They were probably far enough apart as far as relatives," I sighed and shook my head.

"What it does mean is that Jay's evil influence comes from his close ties with Darkness," carter pointed out and turned to look at Luke.

Luke nodded and looked back at the book.

So, I continued to read the section on jay.

"Jay tenebris, son of Noctis and Stella tenebris, current age, 22 years. He has two brothers, one is known, Toby tenebris, the other is unnamed and believed to be dead. He also has one sister, Menda tenebris. Jay has a partner as well, Estrella Luna Tenebris, no heirs, as far as this author knows anyways."

"So if we defeat Jay, who's to say one of his evil sibs won't step up and take his place, you know, follow in their older brother's footsteps?" Abby asked as I finished.

"That's just it, we don't know, that's why we have to Either lock away forever or kill the rest of them if they can't be reasoned with, we don't know these people at all," I argued.

"Killing when unnecessary makes us just as bad as he is," Carter nodded in agreement.

"Anyways, their isn't a lot about Jay in the first place. The only other fact is that his primary is a black bear and his secondary is a condor," I sighed, "that's not a lot to work with."

Carter rested his hand on my shoulder, "did you expect a lot? Jay tends to keep things to himself to not exploit any weakness, we will have to take a more dangerous approach. We have to see for ourselves what we're up against, or find someone who knows."

I looked up at him and nodded.

"Well I did notice something unusual," Abby spoke up, "all the descendants of Darkness have a last name that has something to do with night or evil terms. Tenebris is Latin for dark, a Luna is Latin for moon. And Katie, your last name, Lux, means light, you are a descendant of light. And I know your aunt's last name is Fidem which in Latin means faith."

I smiled and snapped my fingers, "nice find! Anyone with a last name like that must have ties to Jay, we could use that!"

"That was a smart point," Luke told her and smiled faintly.

Abby was a smart girl. She blushed a bit and smiled.

"Thanks," she whispered and looked at Luke.

I looked at carter and my eyes darted from Abby to Luke. Carter smiled back and gave a short, quiet laugh.

Footsteps echoed through the old wood and began to get closer. I looked to my left and saw an old woman with gray hair and glasses. Which, not to be like stereotypical or anything, I guess was the librarian.

"You kids are to smart for your own good," she smirked and walked closer, slowly.

I tilted my head in confusion, was she delusional or something? I heard that happens with age, well I can't say I have seen no evidence of that before.

"What are you saying?" Carter asked.

"It's a shame, really. I should have known you would come here looking for answers, don't worry you'll find them. Jay has been looking for you miss," she said evilly and pointed to me.

I gestured to myself and she nodded.

"Now that jay finally has a challenger, he's not to happy to have his authority questioned by a bunch of teenagers. But really, it is a shame, unlike most you actually respected my rules. And when they come, try not to be to loud, or you, your little friends here, and anyone you have ever known or loved, will be dead like that," she snapped her fingers and seven men, dressed in all black, materialized out of the shadows.

The curtains were down! How could I be so dumb! I knew something didn't feel right!

"It's a trap!" I hissed as I changed.

"No no no," the lady waved her finger, "remember our little deal."

I shifted back, my aunt, Casey, Hallie, Max, they weren't a part of my quest.

"We can't let these guys take us to Jay, he will kill us," carter whispered in my ear, "Luke can fly to the door and shut it, he can open the window shades, the enemies will have no where to go, then we attack."

I nodded. Carter whispered to Luke.

"Very well, we surrender," I lied and the librarian smirked.

"Good children."

"Go!" I shouted and shifted.

Luke flew through the air like a bullet and the door slammed shut. I snarled and showed one of the men my teeth.

Next to me, carter lunged at a man before he went limp and collapsed on the floor.

I let Abby deal with the guy in front of me before attacking the librarian. My teeth sunk into her arm and she screamed. The sound was ear splitting. I had never killed before. But drastic times call for drastic measures. And with that, she was dead. So was everyone of the enemy.

"Great way to become fugitives guys," Luke complimented and shifted back to his human form.

I shifted back to human, as did carter and Abby.

"Where do we go now!" Abby panicked, " more of jay's followers must be coming!"

"The one place they can't go," I smirked, "the Normal world."
